Just a heads up: This is a super random blog post… and you’re welcome. Ha!
Mal had today off from school since it’s Good Friday, so we (ok, him and Murphy) slept in and enjoyed a leisurely morning together. I actually had a terribly disturbing dream about Murphy being attacked by a big, white sea turtle (random), so I was all bugged out when I woke up and could not get back to sleep.
Ok, listen to this bizarre-o dream”¦
It was a warm, sunny day, and Murphy and I were driving by the big, beautiful mansions on the ocean in Newport, Rhode Island. I saw a bunch of people on the side of the road looking at something, so I stopped and got out of the car with Murphy to check it out. It ended up being a small pool with a huge, white sea turtle swimming around inside. I thought it was pretty cool, so I told Murphy to sit in front of the pool, so I could snap a photo on my iPhone to send Mal. As soon as I took the photo, Murphy either jumped or fell into the water with the sea turtle, who immediately grabbed him and held him in a headlock under the water. I, of course, spazzed out and jumped in the water to save Murphy, but, no matter what I did, I could not loosen the turtle’s grip, so I woke up totally distraught and almost in tears. As soon as I realized it was all a bad dream, and Murphy was safe and snoozing right next to me, I immediately relaxed and gave him a huge pug hug. Whoa. Super weird dream.
Breakfast
I had a serious craving for green juice when I woke up this morning, so I whipped up a batch with spinach, kale, apple, celery, carrot, and ginger. I love starting my day with fresh juice. Yes, I do.
A little while later, I made a batch of OMG Pancakes for Mal and me. I topped mine with sunflower butter. Yum! One of my favorite breakfasts ever.
Once we finished breakfast, Mal and I headed out to buy a couple of iced coffees from 1st Stop, which Mal and Murphy are currently obsessed with. Mal loves their Seattle Dark Roast iced coffee and Murphy loves their Milk Bones.
As you can see, Murphy got more and more excited the closer we got to 1st Stop.
Excited-panic.
Chomp!
Totally breaking one of his New Year’s resolutions”¦
I ended up ordering a decaf French vanilla-hazelnut iced coffee with milk. It was excellent””sweet, but not too sweet. Great choice!
I spent the next couple of hours tackling my inbox and then went to cash in a Groupon for a facial. (Confession: I have a serious Groupon “problem.” Must. Stop. Buying. Them.)
The facial was so great (super relaxing), and I’m actually thinking about purchasing a package deal for future appointments. I almost bought one before I left, but I decided to sleep on it before shelling out a few hundred bucks. I want a bunch of facials, but do I really need a bunch of facials, ya know? We’ll see.
Lunch
When I got home from my facial, I whipped up a simple, one-serving version of “Sunshine Sauce,” which I added to some leftover spaghetti squash. Mmm! So good!
Snack
After lunch, I shared a piece of Starbucks Lemon Loaf with Mal. I needed some change to tip the esthetician before my facial, so I popped into Starbucks, which was right next door, to buy a little something-something for later. As expected, the Lemon Loaf was delightful.
Random story: In high school, I used to work at Starbucks, so when I closed the store on Friday and Saturday nights during my senior year (I know, I was a super nerd), I’d take the leftover pieces of Lemon Loaf for Mal and then drop them off at his house because I knew how much he liked them (and, ok, I just wanted to see him). And he still loves Starbucks Lemon Loaf today. Oooh, memories.
A little while later, a couple of contractors came by our house to give us a quote for putting an addition onto our house. Mal and I love, love, love our house and never want to move, so we’re seriously considering adding another bedroom and bathroom.
We’re thinking about building up, so the contractors checked out our attic space to see what’s possible.
We have another contractor coming on Tuesday and we might hire an architect now, so I have a feeling this is going to be quite the project. I’m starting to think we’re crazy people, but we really want to stay in our house forever.
