Say hello to the third trimester!
I can’t believe how much my shape has changed in the past few weeks! And I still have 10 more weeks to go! I can only imagine how huge I’m going to get by then! Haha!
The past few weeks have been really good, but I’m definitely starting to feel the third trimester. I normally have a decent amount of energy throughout the day, but now I feel a little dragged down every once in awhile. It’s funny because I’ll feel like my normal self and have plenty of energy to burn, but then it’s like I’m hit by a truck and need a nap or something. My energy levels are definitely all over the place, but I’m just going with itāātaking advantage of those burst of energy and then taking it easy when I need to.
CRAVINGS
I am still loving apples and now applesauce! I can’t get enough of them!
AVERSIONS
Pretty much the same as before, but no new ones.
OTHER SYMPTOMS
Frequent urination: Same as before. I’m still a peeing machine!
Morning sickness: I was finally starting to feel a little bit better at night, but now my nausea is now coupled with a new symptomā¦
Indigestion (and burping): My indigestion usually starts right before I go to CrossFit, which is, um, fun, and continues until I go to bed. I asked my doctor about it the other day, and she says it only gets worse in the coming weeks. Good times. She recommended that I try TUMS, so I bought some yesterday afternoon, and I guess they help a little?
Clear skin: My skin has been awesome latelyāāzero breakouts, soft and glowing! After dealing with some serious acne in the first and second trimesters, the third trimester is treating me well!
Restless sleep: I had a rough few days of restless sleep during week 28, but I’m starting to sleep better again. Once again, the Snoogle is definitely to thank!
Weight gain:Ā At my 30-week appointment on Monday, I had gainedĀ 31 pounds. I am still ahead of the game and have a good feeling I’ll surpass that recommended 35 pounds with flying colors!
WORKOUTS
I’m still trucking along with my CrossFit workouts! Here are my weekly workout recaps from the past three weeks: 27 weeks, 28 weeks, and 29 weeks.
I’m still feeling pretty good and haven’t needed to make any additional exercise modificationsĀ at CrossFit. My energy comes and goes in waves, so I take my workouts day-by-day and take it easy when I am just not feeling it. However, there are still times that I mostly feel like my old self (minus my 30-pound weight vest/”basketball under my shirt”… a stranger actually said that to me the other day). For instance, I finished a couple of CrossFit Open workouts without too many modifications (one I actually did Rx), which was awesome. If you told me I would be doing 185-pound deadlifts and 95-pound cleans during my third trimester, I would have never believed you, so I am more than happy that I have been able to keep up my fitness level.
ADDITIONAL UPDATES
I bought a dress for my baby shower! My sister and I went shopping a couple of weekends ago, and I found a nice dress that is both comfy and flattering. I might even be able to wear it after Baby H. arrives!
We bought furniture for the nursery. All of it came from IKEA (cribĀ and small cube shelf). We still need to buy theĀ dresserĀ since itĀ was sold out when we were there last time.
Mal (and Murphy) put together the crib. Pugs are always so helpful.
Baby Haupert is a movement maniac.
Baby H. is flipping, rolling, and kicking all the time! Sometimes he will move so much, it will stop me in my tracks. I feel like I need to wait for him to get comfortable in there. Haha! My stomach also moves and grooves based on his shifting around, which is cool to watch and, whoa, sooooo sci-fi. Alien baby inside!
My range of movement is shifting.
My belly is finally getting to a point where I notice it in everyday activities. When I sit down and lean forward, it rests on my lap. Standing up after sitting on the floor or even getting out of bed is always an adventure since my center of gravity is so different. I alsoĀ get out of breath doing the smallest things, like putting on jeans or leaning over to tie my sneakers. I actually find it kind of funny. (Mal definitely does!) And I hear it just gets more and more awkward until the baby comes! Haha!

Lookin’ good! I have heard heartburn and indigestion can be a sign your little one has lots of hair, haha!
Good for you keeping up with Crossfit and killing it, it sounds like!
I had heartburn/indigestion only in my 3rd trimester, too. You may want to try the Tums Smoothies. I found those easier to chew and swallow because they are less chalky. Even sips of water gave me heartburn!
And yes, my son had hair. š My mom had the same wive’s tale come true for me as I was born with enough for a pony tail and her indigestion was terrible. Ha!
That’s what I bought in the end. They’re pretty good!
You look fantastic! My skin was great toward the end of my pregnancy and it has stayed pretty great while I have been nursing the past 3 months. A nice little perk of nourishing another life š Hope your sleep gets better soon, mine was pretty rough during that last trimester.
I feel like time is flying by! I felt like it was just yesterday you announced you were pregnant and now you are near the end! I’m sure it doesn’t feel that way to you though! š
Hey Tina!
I’m not sure if this is safe for pregnant women but I thought I would share. Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar has been shown to really help people who suffer from acid reflux. I suffered from acid reflux and used to take tums and over the counter acid reducers constantly. Now I take a cap full of ACV in the morning and in the evening every day. I like the taste so I’ll put mine in water and drink it like a normal beverage. I know other people who can’t stand the taste and will just take a little cap full straight up. There is a lot of research out there on the benefits so check it out!
Thankfully, I don’t have acid reflux (yet?), but I will definitely keep it in mind! Thanks!
@Tina: Aren’t acid reflux/indigestion/heartburn all the same thing? Maybe I’m wrong here, but that’s what I’ve always thought.
Anyway, you look great! You’re almost on the home stretch now. š Great job with keeping up your fitness.
Yup basically! Acid reflux is the cause of heart burn! So the two go together which I was I suggested the ACV remedy. Sometimes its just nice to have an option that doesn’t require taking any meds.
Then maybe I don’t have that? I always just feel like I have to burp (and usually do)!
You look
Hi Tina,
I’m so glad I found your blog when I did, because I truly enjoying seeing you keep up with your workouts and life while pregnant. While I don’t have any kids yet, I am getting to that age and as a group fitness instructor who is extremely active, I’ve always feared pregnancy and how it would interfere with my routine. You’re a great inspiration.
Thanks for sharing it all on here. Another wonderful thing about blogging … right? You can look back at some important times in life.
Best,
Ashley
I’m surprised it took this long for your baby bump to start getting in the way of daily things – I think it would be really noticeable to me asap! But, I’ve never been pregnant so obviously I can only speculate! Glad things are going along well – and maybe some antacid medicine to prevent indigestion? I have GERD and take a prescription every morning about 30 min before breakfast.
Man, I wish I looked as great as you do when I was preggo.
I had heartburn BADLY. Even from water. (I’ve heard it’s when your child as a lot of hair, mine did). Nothing helped.
Aww I can’t believe you are already in your 3rd trimester! Tums now has the chewable ones now and they are really delicious! We got some samples and I keep them in my purse when I need them.
You look awesome!
You are most definitely glowing, Tina! And I also love how you are not worried in the least about your weight gain. You have a very healthy perspective that more women need to emulate!
Oh, man. I am right with you with the heartburn. I’m 32 weeks, and TUMS have become my dessert, my best friend. š
You look great! It is so awesome how you’ve documented your pregnancy this way. Must be fun to look back and you will have it for free baby arrives too!
Aww..you look so cute! Miss being pregnant now : )
185lb deadlifts!? you’re one strong mama!!
You look awesome! Way to keep working out during your pregnancy! You will be so so so so glad you did. š
I never had heartburn actuallyā¦not sure why I didn’t? I think it is a genetic thingā¦.2 of my sisters had it and 2 of us didn’t. So weird! But I know the 2 who did felt the Tums helpedā¦.so happy chomping!
Way to go on keeping up your workouts, it’s great! You’re looking beautiful š I get indigestion regularly and I’m not even pregnant! I can imagine it’s not fun.
Just wait until you can’t reach to shave your legs! Better let Mal get some practice in now. LOL
You look so cute, Tina! I’m at week 39 with our first little boy and and to giggle at the Tums purchase. I joked in the 2nd trimester that Tums became my new favorite candy. However, I have nearly eliminated refined sugar and the heartburn is pretty much gone unless I eat something spicy. Enjoy the last trimester! Isn’t crazy to think how quickly the time goes?!!!
I visited my parents over the weekend and forgot my snoogle. Now I have a whole new appreciation for it. I never realized how key it is in my quality of sleep at 33 weeks!
I was taking Tums occasionally too until I saw it had artificial sweeteners and dyes- blah! They sneak those things into everything!
So glad you’re feeling pretty good overall. Time will start flying now! š
First, you look amazing!
Second, before my second pregnancy I was very much into lifting weights. Unfortunately, I was under the impression that lifting heavy things was a big no-no while pregnant. I still lifted, but reduced the the amount significantly. I remember someone telling me that I shouldn’t lift more than ten lbs. and I listened. Fast forward five years and now I’m learning that being pregnant doesn’t mean having to put the weights down. Such an inspiration!
OMG the Snoogle has been a life saver! I’ve got less than 2 weeks to go and the Snoogle has become more and more necessary as the days go by!
You look awesome! 30 weeks is such a big milestone… those last ten weeks will go quickly. I had the same thing with acne- it was an issue in the first trimester and now my skin is clear and I skip make up most days!
Hi Tina – we got our nursery furniture at Ikea too! The crib and dresser have worked out great! My son is now 16 months and crib is still doing great. Our only splurge was a chair from Buy Buy Baby which has been so worth it – I sat there with my son Henry while nursing and now we ready stories before bedtime. Have fun setting everything up!
Also you look fantastic! I only wish I had that much energy while I was pregnant! I did go to the gym and kept active which helped so much.
I ate TUMS like they were candy in my third trimester. I never found anything else that worked even remotely well for me. I think I polished off 3 or 4 bottles in those few months!
You look great! It’s such an inspiration seeing other pregnant women working-out! I’m 22 weeks right now and I’m hoping I’ll be able to continue running/ working-out out ’til the due date. š
Sorry to hear you’re having heartburn now. Maybe baby’s got a lot of hair? Wive’s tale, I know š One of my girlfriends had terrible heartburn with all 3 of her pregnancies and swore by 1/2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in water. I’ve had heartburn since first trimester, and this simple solution seems to be the only thing that helps me.
You have the best perspective and attitude on the whole Baby H fun š
You look so great and glowing. So happy for you!
Hi Tina. The indigestion is the worst! I ended up taking a Prilosec everyday and that did wonders – it was the only way I could make it through the day. Glad your pregnancy is going great – you look fantastic and have such a great positive attitude!
I love the baby updates. I totally identify with the breathlessness. It’s so bizarre too. I’m getting through my workouts pretty well but something seemingly simple like getting out of bed or even standing up from sitting in a chair leaves me gasping for air. I also appreciate you sharing your weight gain. I am in the same trajectory as you are in that regard and it was totally freaking me out. I am trying to remind myself that I am eating well and exercising and this is just what my body is doing. Thanks for sharing!
You know I wouldn’t be surprised if some of that baby weight is muscle you’ve put on from cross fitting with baby on board.
Well, my arms are looking pretty jacked from all of those weighted pull-ups I’ve been doing! Haha!
@Tina:
Wait till you do one post pardum, they going to feel super easy once you’re back to your pre-baby weight.
I love these updates!
You look great! Kudos for keeping up the workouts for so long!
I had much more relief with Pepcid than I did with Tums and you only have to take one of those – might be worth trying.
It’s so fun putting a nursery together!
I can really see a difference from 27 to 29. You’re doing so good with your workouts and seem like such a happy pregnant person. I’m glad everything is going so well for you! š
You are looking sooo good!! So impressive with the workouts!
I am 33 weeks and have crazy heartburn. My doc prescribed Zantac and it works amazingly. I don’t like to take it because I am also on other medication for high blood pressure. Someone suggested apple cider vinegar to help with heartburn…have not tried it yet though.
You are so cute! I can only imagine how hard it is to be pregnant, but the end result is more than worth it! Hope you keep feeling good, and showing that there truly is no reason NOT to workout!
Have 2 kiddos and my youngest is 5. Your baby bump is really giving me belly-envy.
I burped like crazy and felt kinda sick, and my dr told me that was all part of the acid reflux symptoms that are common during pregnancy. Hormones relaxing sphincter a in the diaphragm I believe she said? Anyway, at her suggestion, I started with tums (no help), moved on to Pepcid (sorta helped) and ended up with Zantac (super helpful). Hope you can find something to bring you some relief.
You’re looking fantastic, staying so fit and toned will really stand to you! š Can’t wait to see what dress you ended up with! You should try apple cider vinegar as a natural remedy for the indigestion – 1-2 tbsp in 2/3 cup water 15 minutes before you eat and when you get indigestion too!
You are looking awesome! It’s impressive that you have kept up your workout routines! Keep trucking along š
It drove me crazy when putting on socks and shoes became an athletic event!
That baby bump is adorable. Glad you can keep up the Crossfit! Being in shape will help so much in the months to come. You’re going to rock motherhood!
It looks like pregnancy really suits you! When the time comes (not yet!) I plan on taking photos each week so that I can see how the baby grows throughout the months – so lovely to look back on.
You look so happy and healthy!!
Where the heck is that weight coming from? You’re so active! It’ll probably fall right off.
Try some good local honey for your indigestion. A nice natural and effective way to treat it!
I love how positive you are about everything. Best of luck as you hit the homestretch!! š
prevacid! works wonders, seriously!!
