Hi, guys! How’s your Tuesday going so far?
Here’s a little recap from yesterday”¦
Breakfast
I slept pretty well on Sunday night, but I still woke up feeling totally exhausted on Monday morning. It was actually kind of weird. I guess all of my trying to get comfortable + trips to the bathroom was more restless than I thought.
My stomach was growling like crazy when I woke up, so I got out of bed and immediately headed to the kitchen to make breakfast. I made my usual toast + nut butter + banana slices and then took it back to bed with me. How’s that for lazy? Haha!
I ended up laying in bed”¦ checking email, playing on Instagram, reading blogs”¦ for probably a good 25 minutes before starting my day. Like a lot of you guys suggested, I am really trying to embrace my downtime these final few days before our little one arrives.
Then, I drank some orange juice, took Murphy for a walk, and then gave him his eye drops for his ulcer. His eye is getting so much better, and he’s almost good as new! Thank goodness.
Eventually, I poured myself a glass of iced coffee, started up my computer, and got to work. I’m working on writing as many posts as possible for when Baby H. arrives, so CNC doesn’t go completely quiet during those first few weeks.
Lunch
Around noon, I broke for lunch, which was a delicious new recipe that I’ve actually made twice now in the past three days. The recipe will be on CNC tomorrow. It’s a GOOD one!
After lunch, I got a few things done around the house. I framed the dinosaur prints that we got for Baby H.’s room. Unfortunately, one of the frames was broken when it arrived (I ended up ordering them from Amazon), so I only framed 3 out of the 4.
Seriously, how adorable are these prints?! I absolutely love them, but I actually think Mal loves them even more than me. As a kid, he was obsessed with dinosaurs (and knows all sorts of random facts about them now), so he’s excited to share his love for them with Baby H. once he’s older. Dinosaurs are pretty cool, aren’t they?
After cleaning up around the house, I took Murphy for a long walk.
After that, we planted ourselves on the couch for the rest of the afternoon.
There was lots of cuddle time.
Snack
And snacking!
I made a batch of Oatmeal Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies over the weekend, so I ended up finishing them off.
And then I ate some dark chocolate chunks with almonds. Mmm! Love this snack. It never gets old.
Dinner
When I was out walking Murphy, I ran into one of our neighbors, who suggested Chinese food to induce labor. He has 3 kids, so I figured why not and, of course, Mal was on board. He loves Chinese food in a weird way.
We ordered General Tso’s chicken, pork fried rice, and veggie lo mein. I ate some of each, but not luck on the labor front. Still waiting on Baby Haupert!
Questions of the Day
What’s your favorite Chinese food dish to order?
I love pork fried rice with duck sauce.
What did you really love as a kid?
I loved drawing, coloring, and anything related to arts & crafts. I still do, but now I create blog posts on the Internet every day!
P.S. I read this article the other day on The Huffington Post and just had to share. If you ever had gripes or qualms about CrossFit, check out this piece: CrossFit Bashers, Can You Be More Constructive?

I’m so excited for you guys. I keep checking your blog a few times a day just to see if you’ve gone in to labor!! I feel like a creepy stalker haha! I’m not, I promise, I’m just a fan – I’ve read your blog every day for what-seems-like years! Good luck Tina!! 😀
My favorite takeout chinese food is General Tso’s chicken and crab rangoon. But no matter what we order, I love putting duck sauce on everything!
As a kid I loved BARBIES! Between my sister and I we had so many and we must have played up until middle school…but not many people know that!
Glad you’re enjoying your leisure time! My in-laws have told us to do the same until LO arrives in November!
Sesame chicken! I haven’t had Chinese in forever. Actually, I prefer Thai or Vietnamese pho over Chinese. From the time I learned how to write, I always wrote short stories. I loved writing my whole life. Not sure why I gave it up and went into a fancy corporate consulting job.
Just curious, what kind of bread do you use for your toast?
Can’t wait to hear the birth story! Hopefully you’re not waiting around too long for the little one to arrive 🙂
I’ve been eating cinnamon raisin Glutino lately.
As a girl with two older brothers I was a bit of a tomboy growing up (still am). One thing I REALLY loved with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. OBSESSED! Needless to say, I am rather excited about the TMNJ live action movie coming out this summer! 🙂
Chicken kung pao….me and my brother used to share a portion as kids and we’d fight over who got the most cashew nuts!
One of my favorite Chinese dishes is wonton soup! I really love all kinds of soups and this is definitely one of my favorites!
As a kid, I loved playing outside games like tag and kickball! I also enjoyed riding my bike and haven’t owned one since my elementary years!
I love chicken low mien with extra duck sauce! When I was a kid I always tried to organize plays and shows with all of the neighborhood kids and pretend that I was a teacher and they were my students!
I loved playing teacher too! I’d make up worksheets for my sister to do. Haha!
I love shrimp fried rice!
I loved drawing too! I’d take a box of Crayola crayons (the 64 pack with the sharpener in the back 😉 haha) with me everywhere! I’m getting so excited for baby H!!
Love the pictures of Murphy snuggling with your belly!
I love sesame chicken or sweet and sour chicken – totally not healthy, but so delicious.
As a kid I was into arts and crafts and science “experiments” <—these were mostly just kitchen messes I always got yelled at for! Its funny someone brought up biking – I hadn't bike since elementary school and last weekend I got back into it – so much so I even ordered a trailer hitch for my car and a hitch rack!
Love me some shrimp lo mein! Have u and ur doctor talked about an induction date?
Completely random, but what’s your go-to Chinese spot in the area? We’ve so far struck out at every single place we’ve tried, without going to Norwell for Beijing House, which isn’t even that great!
I’m a BIG fan of lo mein… and egg rolls… and sweet and sour chicken. Now I’m craving it!
We don’t have one. There really isn’t any good ones near us. 🙁
I LOVE the prints! So fun. You should go find some old school dinosaurs!
I can’t eat Chinese food because I have a really strong migraine reaction to MSG 🙁 When I used to eat it, I loved any kind of saucy green beans. Oh MAN now I have a super craving!
I was a baby-doll and Barbie girl when I was a kid. Super girly-girl! And I loved playing school too. I got such weird satisfaction out of giving bad grades to my imaginary pupils. I was such a weirdo!
I loved rocks…the pretty geode ones you can collect. We used to have a house in the mountains and there was this resort near our house, and its bookstore would sell rock kits and individual geode rocks. I had quite the assortment. I totally forgot about that until you made me think of it! I swear I wanted to be a geologist, which is so weird to me now.
My birthday is tomorrow and I am secretly (or not-so-secretly now I guess) hoping you have baby H tomorrow ha. That sounds weird too, but hey, I’ve been reading your blog for over 5 years, what can I say? I’ll send some vibes!
I love shrimp lo mein, but I NEED my crab rangoons. Hope Baby Haupert comes soon! 🙂
I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying some down time! Soak it up. 🙂 All of your meals and snacks look sooooo delicious! I’m a huge fan of fried rice and lo mein!
I keep checking the blog like crazy waiting on something! 🙂 I really love chicken lettuce wraps specifically the ones from P.F Changs! 🙂
Chocolate and almonds is the BEST snack. So so tasty!
I looove honey shrimp. My eight million food sensitivities won’t let me have it anymore. 🙁
When I was a kid, Barbies were my thing. I had tons of them!
My little boy is 11 months. I was so ready for him to come. Raspberry leaf tea worked for me. I drank 2 glasses in the morning, and water broke that night. Who knows what actually works, but I’m attributing my going into labor to the tea. (They also say eggplant, curry, lemon… who knows!)
I read that article earlier today and love it! I also need to make some coffee ice cubes ASAP!!
I went into labor right after General Tso’s Chicken 🙂
I love chicken and broccoli, and pork fried rice. And egg rolls! I need to calm down…haha
I loved drawing, dancing, and playing make believe as a kid. Those were the days…
In Atlanta, there’s an Italian restaurant that’s famous for inducing labor with their eggplant parmesan…give that a try.
I think I’m a little far from Atlanta! 😉
@Tina: When I lived in LA there was a restaurant that was famous for inducing labor with their salad! I considered treking up to it my last few weeks, but the traffic was too intimidating. BUT, their website is fun to read!
This is the website, but it isn’t loading right for me, it used to have tons of stories about how the Salad worked for people 🙂

Hi there-
I don’t ever comment on your blog, but I have a client who is struggling with UC and we just switched him to a raw-vegan diet and he is eating foods he has not been able to eat since his initial diagnoses, and hasn’t flared since the changing his diet. I recommend trying to cut out meat and processed diary until your flares die down if the raw-vegan thing is not for you with the new babe. Substituting goats milk has been helpful for a few UC people I know. Best of luck, and congratulations on the baby!!!
i frequently make food then return to bed to eat it… so no judgement here!
I really love you dog.. Murphy is Very CUTE!!! I always like pug puppies.
I don’t know whats your lunch but it looks very simple and delicious also
I loved the care bears when i was little and Rainbow bright. I was obsessed with my teddy that i took everywhere and i still have him 🙂
First off, Murphy sleeping on your belly is basically the cutest thing ever! I think he’s going to miss the bump when Baby H. arrives. 🙂
When I was a kid, I was *obsessed* with trains. I watched Shining Time Station religiously, and every time we were at my grandmother’s house (she lived behind a train track), I would flip out and run outside to watch the trains go by.
Poor Murphy is going to miss that baby bump. He looks very comfortable using your “head rest.” 🙂
Best of luck, Tina & Mal!! I’m so excited for you guys, and I can’t wait to see pictures of the new baby carrot! Enjoy your little boy!
My favorite chinese is Pork Lo Mein, but I can’t find any that was as good as the Lo Mein from the Chinese Restaurant near my college! But maybe, since I might have been drunk my whole 4 years, I am making it out to be something it wasn’t!
And I love a good PuPu Platter 🙂
Favorites as a child – Legos! I kept them under my pillow to play with after lights out.
My 5 year old was OBSESSED with all wheeled vehicles from ages 1-4, he is more into his Marble Run (me too) and unfortunately video games now.
Those oatmeal cookies look so good! And the dinosaur pics are so adorable!
Fave chinese foods….sweet and sour chicken, hong kong chicken and chow mein. Okay now I want a big plate of chinese food…he he.
Good luck with the last stretch:)
DOLLS! i love dolls so much and played with them far past when i “should” have. favorite chinese dish is orange chicken or kung pao chicken!
What kind of frames did you get? I have a bunch of prints that I want to frame and those are perfect!
My husband was SO INTO dinosaurs when he was a little kid. His mom told me that he wrote a sign on his bedroom door that said “Dinosaur Maniac at work” when he didn’t want to be disturbed. Cutest thing ever.
Haha! That’s awesome!
When I was in preschool I had this huge crush on this boy who LOVED dinosaurs.. So, when my mom told me she would give me any themed room I wanted, I said I wanted a dinosaur theme. I insisted and she went above and beyond and gave me the best dinosaur room.. the downside was I never saw the boy after preschool and I had the room until I was 13.
.. I guess I was obsessed with boys lol.
Haha!
That potato concoction looks good, whatever it is. Murphy is so cute laying on you like that.
I loved horseback riding and really need to get back into it as an adult!
Chinese food: I actually went to Beijing over Thanksgiving 2013 and had my first Peking Duck. I LOVED IT. I could have eaten that duck all day. So crispy, greasy, decadent. Yum. I also love Dim Sum.
As a Kid: I loved to craft (and yes like you now I paste photos and things on the web for my blog) and I loved to DANCE my heart out. I am now a dance instructor…
I think I’m very much the same kid at heart.
Agreed on the CF rebuttal post. I had SO many conversations with people about the original because they know I do CF. I was more than happy to share that in 2+ years I have never been injured. That I LIKE the people in CF. And that we should support each other no matter how we choose to get healthy! Grrrr!! 🙂
I love the dinosaur prints!! They’re so adorable!
PS- I saw you at The Yogurt Bar a couple weeks ago but was too shy to say hello!!
You did? Was I with Mal? You should have said hi! 😄
