Good morning, friends!
Ok, there really isn’t anything super groundbreaking in this post, but sometimes those are the best ones, right? It’s just a random list of things I’ve been meaning to tell you guys – random tidbits and cool things that I wanted to share. I mean, hey, it’s Tuesday, we have a long week ahead, so let’s just have some fun this morning, shall we? Here we go…
Mal and I are fighting over the Turkey Stuffing Kettle Chips from Trader Joe’s. I bought a bag last week and it was gone in like 12 hours. This week, we bought two bags, but the fighting about who has eaten more has already started. Haha! They’re so dang delicious and taste just like Thanksgiving stuffing!
I ordered this hoodie the other day and it’s definitely a game changer. I can’t wait to wear it ALLTHETIME this winter!
I’m loving tasting plates for breakfast, lunch, and dinner lately. They’re such a great way to get a healthy variety of macro- and micronutrients into your diet. The one pictured below was inspired by my trip to Israel. Details here.
Still debating whether or not to try Stitch Fix? Well, here is some SERIOUS INCENTIVE for you! From now until the end of November, you can try Stitch Fix for the first time with a waived styling fee! That’s right. Stitch Fix is waiving the styling fee for anyone who signs up for their first Fix.Β Important! Styling fee’s are only waived when using this link.
IBD School from the University of Michigan. Someone shared this in a UC Facebook group that I’m a part of, and it’s probably the most valuable IBD resource I’ve ever seen. It’s super comprehensive and covers just about everything related to IBD – even medical marijuana and how to read your blood tests. I also love that it gives FODMAPs a shout-out, especially since so many GI doctors won’t give you a straight answer when asked about diet.
Speaking of IBD, this news is exciting: Simponi Maintains Long-Term Effects in UC Patients Results Show. In addition to Entyvio, my doctor was pumped about this new drug. Glad to hear that patients are doing well on it!
I got a new stand-up desk, and I am totally OBSESSED with it. It’s already changed the way I work for the better. Blog post about it coming soon!
I’m pretty sure this playhouse is what Qman is getting for his “big” Christmas present this year. He fell in love with it at a friend’s house, but I’m still shopping around and would love some recommendations. If your little one has a dollhouse/playhouse that they love, will you please let me know? π
I paid $9 for 4 shots of espresso the other day. At the time, I didn’t want to make a big deal about it, but I’m still annoyed.
I can’t stop eating these Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Protein Cookies. For real. It’s only Tuesday, and I’ve already made two batches this week. They’re so delicious and so easy to make!
Question of the Day
What’s your random tidbit or tangent for today?

I was supposed to receive my Stitch Fix order yesterday (my first in over a year!), but it didn’t show up. Your post reminded me to check my address info, and sure enough, my OLD address (in Washington, 3,000 miles away) is listed in my profile! I’m so bummed!
Oh, no! Their customer service is really good – send them a quick message!
$9 for coffee shots? What did you order? We’ve been researching standing desks and found a lot of them looked too industrial (even Costco has one in this upcoming coupon ad). This looks great though, we might invest in one as well!
I have had a standing desk for about a year and I cannot imagine going back to sitting. I feel so much better at the end of the day!
Yes, Starbucks prices have been inching up. When you pay with your card on your phone I don’t think you notice as much but it is more expensive.
WHOA that’s a hefty Starbucks bill! Random tidbit is I have no idea what to get my boyfriend for Christmas and he’s jewish so technically I need to do Hanukkah for him too! He loves hockey so I’m trying to come up with something I know he’ll love. Need suggestions for men!
@Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious: How about tickets to a game?
Our almost-three-year old son has this same dollhouse! He fell in love with it at Target over the summer. We got a cow family to go with it, and he loves to put them to sleep in their beds (rubbing their backs and singing Hush Little Baby). The other times, he uses it as a garage for his cars:)
Good to know! Thank you!!
I love the idea of a stand up desk! I try to limit my sitting time as much as possible at work, but it’s challenging when I have a lot of work on the computer to do.
I was so impressed with my last Stitch Fix – I actually kept all 5 items for the first time ever!
Thanks for sharing that sweatshirt – I’ve been looking for something like that!
That’s awesome about your recent Stitch Fix! π
That sweatshirt looks awesome but it’s sold out. Womp.
Booooo! Ugh, sorry!
Yay for a standing desk! I started at a new company earlier this year and there was one waiting for me. It definitely took a little easing in to, but now I pretty much stand all day and I love it. Enjoy!
I hate to ruin Starbucks for you but Iβve recently been alerted to the pesticides and bad cows milk they use. Hereβs an article about it. https://www.naturalnews.com/045729_starbucks_organic_coffee_GMOs.html
A few of my friends have the Melissa & Doug brand playhouses. They love them because they are fold and go so they can store and travel easier.
The Calico Critters line has a lot more variety in animals and houses – a huge line! I (an adult woman) fell in love with them and am so happy my niece is into them!
I Have a similar house for my girls (age 3 and 5) with all the little families etc. Truth be told they don’t use it a ton. The pieces are SMALL. Like pin head small (other than the animals themselves) so I think it becomes overwhelming for them. They like the bigger doll houses that hold bigger dolls. I’m thinking of getting this for my son though (he’s 14 months now) But I think his sisters will like to use that till they grow into the calico critters/little WOODZEEZ ones.

Thank you!!
Made your protein cookies last night and they are legit! Thanks for sharing the recipe!!
So glad you liked them!! π
I’ve been ordering espresso over ice a lot at Starbucks. If they ring each double shot as a double it’s cheaper and correct. One day they did ring it like single for each shot and it was more and I said something to the barisat and then she fixed it. The thing is if you don’t order the same drink all the time you would have no idea!
They rang up for 2 double shots and it was STILL that much. Uggggghhhh!
THAT PLAYHOUSE LOOKS AMAZING. I was absolutely that kid obsessed with my dollhouse. I was a FisherPrice Loving Family maniac. The dollhouse, the people, the cars, the pets. Loved it all. I’m jealous of Quinn’s Christmas already!
@Britt:
We have the Fisher Price loving family dollhouse with a ton of accessories. Played with my both my 8 and 3 year old.
I need to check this thing out!
We have the playhouse from Costco itβs bigger as in they can stand and play in it. My youngest spends hours and even my older kids enjoy it. They just wonβt admit it. Lol
I LOVE those cookies! They’re my snack every day now and I just bought more bananas to make another batch. I’ve already made two! Yum! Thanks, Tina! Also I’m loving my beauty counter products:)
Yayyyyyy! So glad to hear that! π
$9? I’d faint. I have a makeshift standing desk at work, and I love it. It’s a serious game changer. It’s weird though, because I notice if I stand for too long, I end up not feeling well. Maybe it’s because I’m also writing on a computer too? So weird! My boyfriend and I ALSO fight over Trader Joe’s chips, but the seal salt and vinegar ones. O-M-G they are truly the best.
My son has a firestation by kid kraft that he loves (the link was 20 lines long, but just google fire station kid kraft and you will see a bunch of them)!
I bought my son and my nefew -who are 3 1/2- the Megaformer wow set. The reviews are awesome, I can’t wait to see if it’s worth all the rave reviews! Last year (2 1/2) I bought them a grow clock and the year (1 1/2) before a toy guitar (B. Woofer Hound Dog Guitar by B. Toys) – awesome purchase they both still play with it. I bought my other nefew the cat guitar from the same brand for his 1st birthday.
You seriously just pushed me to try Stitch Fix: I live in the middle of nowhere and it is impossible to find things I like that fit properly, so I figured I’d try it for a laugh and then see if it actually sticks.
Random tangent: I really miss Greek coffee (talk about strong iced coffee) and your Tel Aviv coffee post reminded me of that.
I hope you love Stitch Fix. I’m a huge fan because I can’t dress myself. π
Tell me more about Greek coffee! Is it like Turkish coffee?
I am excited! I love getting things in the mail too and need some actual fashion inspiration.
OK, so clearly I didn’t have enough coffee yet, but Greek coffee is generally served hot (although I did pour it over ice in the summer). It’s super, super thick and often sweetened, but I started drinking it with no sugar because I like the bitterness. There’s usually a thick layer of coffee “silt” at the bottom (don’t drink it) but the drink itself is SUPER strong and dark and delicious. Used to treat myself with one every Friday at a Greek bakery in Astoria – as far as Boston goes, I wouldn’t know where to find that these days, but yes, it is along the lines of Turkish coffee, which I have never had!
Random neck pain…?
I have this random neck pain that only really hurts sometimes — certain ways I move make it twinge with pain…
