Have you ever said you’d never do something, but then you ended up doing it?

It happens, right? Life happens. Here are some things that I said I’d never do, but I did ’em:

Join a sorority

I actually didn’t even want to go to a college with a Greek system, but then I joined a sorority. I wasn’t planning to rush at all, but my freshman year roommate was all about it and paid for my registration, so I’d go with her. I went into rush with an open mind (maybe I’d meet some cool people), but I had no intention of joining. I ended up loving the ladies I met and realized that sorority life was a lot more than just cocktail parties and getting drunk (even though those are some of my best memories!), so I ended up joining.

Drink alcohol

For real. I didn’t drink a sip of alcohol all through high school. I’d go to parties, watch my friends drink, and then drive them home at the end of the night. I actually planned to not drink in college too, but that definitely changed!

Go to grad school

I still remember my college friends studying for their GREs and scoping out grad schools during our senior year, but I had zero interest in any of that stuff. It was hard enough paying the tuition for my undergraduate degree, so there was no way I was going to shell out more money. I needed a JOB, so I focused my attention there and ended up with a paid internship at a marketing and promotions company after I graduated. Long story short, I left the marketing gig for a full-time position at Boston College where I earned my Master’s degree (part-time) in Higher Education Administration. (I also lost 20 pounds during this time: How to Lose Weight with a Busy Schedule.) My plan was to become an administrator or maybe even a dean, but then I fell in love with health and fitness, started this little blog, and the rest is history!

Spend a semester abroad

I actually just blogged about my semester aboard last August, so you probably remember the story. I never planned to go abroad, but I took a leap of faith and was so glad that I did. It was an experience of a lifetime!

Wear a running skirt

When running shirts first started to get popular, I was totally against them. A skirt? To run in? No thanks! But, then a few of my running buddies started to wear them, and I thought they were kind of cute (the skirts”¦ and, ok, my friends), so I tried one myself. Surprisingly, I liked it! It was actually a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be. I still don’t wear running skirts on a regular basis (I’d much rather wear shorts), but I’m glad I gave them a try!

Get back together with an ex

After getting back together and breaking up with my college boyfriend for the umpteenth time, I swore I’d never date an ex again. Well, that changed when Mal and I went on our second first date in 2003, and we all know how that turned out!

Breakfast

Yesterday’s breakfast was another French Toast Breakfast Scramble with sunflower butter. I’m sure you’re getting sick of seeing this same breakfast over and over again (sorry), but it’s just so darn delicious and easy to make. I haven’t eaten breakfast yet this morning, so maybe I’ll switch it up. Variety is the spice of life! Ha!
