Guys, this world map puzzle totally deserves its own post. We had so much fun putting it together!
One of my blog readers works for a website called foamtiles.com that makes all sorts of fun play mats, including the world map mentioned above, and she offered to send Quinn one for his playroom. Their mat are super cool and a perfect addition for any kid’s playroom, so we happily accepted.
Quinn was so excited when I told him who the play mat was for!
The world map mat is made up of 60 foam puzzle pieces. Each one is approximately 8″ X 8″, but they come partially assembled in much bigger squares, so, if you aren’t up for the challenge, it’s not difficult to put together.
I love that this play mat is both fun and safe to play on, but also educational and can help kids learn basic world geography.
Mal was especially excited about this since he teaches a geography class at school.
And he taught Quinn random facts as they built it together. He’s the best dad.
Even Murphy was excited about the mat and wanted to help us put it together/play/get in our way.
Each piece of the mat is made of durable foam which prevents liquids from penetrating the surface, so it’s easy to clean and maintain. If it gets dirty, you just wipe it down with a damp cloth and it’s good to go.
Almost done!
Ta da!
High-fives all around!
Once the mat was finished, Dada went into teacher mode pointing out all sorts of interesting things for Quinn.
And Quinn thought it was so cool!
The completed world map mat is 4′ X 6.5′, so it’s a good size play mat and an awesome addition to Quinn’s playroom. I know we’ll get a ton of use out of it in the coming years.

The Murphy high-five is adorable and of course, Quinn is too cute as well!
Quinn is looking like such an adorable little man! And the Murphy high five is so, so great. My favorite subjects were Science and English!
I love puzzles, my son and I used to do them all the time, but now he is older and into video games. He is adorable. Have a great evening
This is a really cool idea for a toddler! I love the idea of having a big map that they can play on. What a great toy! In school I always liked the STEM classes, which would make sense since I work in Technology now 🙂
oh the memories! I had a giant atlas book (~ 18″ x 24″? ish?) that I LOVED. it was maybe 8 “pages” but it was thick cardboard that you could lay on and trace on. it even had the flags too. my grandma gave it to me when I was maybe 4 or 5. Quinn will love that play mat for years.
my favorite subjects were math and chemistry, which makes sense as I am now a chemical engineer.
Math all the way! My geography has gotten much better over the years though since we have lived on 3 continents in 4 years!
Such a great gift idea! Going to keep this in mind for my nephews at Christmas. I always loved English, and I’m an English teacher now!
Cute! Will keep those mats in mind when I start our playroom. My favorite topics were U.S. History and Algebra!
I loved English! Hence my English Education major. I love the 3rd picture done of Quinn. He looks so excited! This is a great idea for a play mat!
I loved history and art. That’s when I discovered I was actually good at drawing and painting. Of course art is just a hobby for me now but it is something I do like to do to de-stress.
I loved science, history, English, math…basically all 😉
Cute post. I liked social studies and science.
English definitely – I love to write!
That Murphy high five is too stinkin’ cute!
My favorite subject was definitely English.
How cool! I love that it’s a bit of a different twist on the normal foam play mats most kids have!
math! loved it so much.
i just adore your family and love reading. you all seem so happy and are just so cute!
I was a big fan of math until I hit AP Calculus. I also liked learning about history but didn’t like writing papers.
I want one of these map mats! SO COOL! I love geography but I’m a mathematician so I guess I would have to say my favorite subject is/was math 😀
