Hi, friends!

Here’s a little preview of our kitchen. Check out the shelf we hung over the stove for our spices. The previous owners had it on the wall in the living room, but we moved into the kitchen since the black shelf we used to have there no longer matched. Cute, right?

Mal and I ordered a couple of things from Etsy, so once we receive them, I’ll show ya the final product. Although, I’m still in search of a new utensil holder. I found this one that I really like, but it costs $48, and I haven’t quite decided if I want to spend that type of money. We’ll see. It is really nice.

Dinner

Last night’s dinner was a good one. We had pizza with chopped orange bell pepper, onion, chicken, and black olives on an Almond Flax Crust.

I may have spread the Almond Flax Crust too thin because I remember the texture being a lot more cake-like the last time I made it.

Even still, it tasted pretty darn amazing. I mean, isn’t all pizza delicious?

After dinner, Mal and I headed to the Derby Street Shoppes to do a little shopping.

Banana Republic was having a one-day sale (40% off one full priced item + 25% off clearance), so we decided to check it out. Unfortunately, when we finally got to the store, neither of us were in the mood to shop anymore. We wandered around and found a few things that we liked, but nothing so great that we wanted to try it on, which, of course, is not a good sign when shopping. Instead of spending money on things we weren’t super excited about, we called it quits and headed to Burtons for a drink.

Somehow, one drink turned into three.

Our friend Colleen was working the bar last night, so she gave Mal and me an autumn-inspired martini to sample. She’s trying to perfect the recipe, so she gave us a taste and asked for our feedback. I can’t tell you what’s in the martini (it’s Colleen’s secret recipe), but Mal and I really loved it. I hope Burtons adds it to their fall menu!

While Mal and I sat at the bar, enjoying our drinks, our friend Kayla (from CrossFit) randomly walked in the door of Burtons. She was meeting another CrossFit friend, so the four of us snagged some seats at the bar together. A few minutes later, Colleen’s fiancé (aka Man with a Van and Tile Saw) came to visit her. At this point, we had quite the crew of CrossFit 781 peeps hanging out at the bar at Burtons, so it was only fitting that our coaches showed up to grab dinner. With so many of our friends there, Mal and I decided to stay for “one more” drink.

Two glasses of wine and half of a martini later, I was more than ready to head home and pass out. Before I went to bed, I ate a piece of cold leftover pizza from dinner and chugged a ton of water. Thankfully, I feel fine this morning.

Breakfast

This morning, I made a wrap with almond butter and banana slices inside for breakfast. I also drank an iced coffee with almond milk. Man, I’m sorry I’ve been so boring with my breakfasts lately. This one is just so easy and so satisfying.

The Protein Powder Question

In addition to the carb question (thanks for all of your great comments on that post, btw), I have also received the ”˜what type of protein powder do you use’ question a lot lately. And the answer is a bunch of different ones!

As you know, I have a relationship with GNC (from my sponsorship to the CrossFit Games), so they’ve been hooking me up with all sorts of awesome products, including various types of protein. The ones I like best are the 100% Egg Protein (check out my review) and the Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 (vanilla) mostly because they taste delicious (I love vanilla protein powders), but also because they mix well with water, almond milk, iced coffee, and in smoothies. I typically drink a protein shake or smoothie everyday, so I like to have different options. I also like that these products have a good amount of protein, but not a ton of calories per serving. The 100% Egg Protein has 25g of protein and 120 calories per scoop (34.5g) and the Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 has 20g of protein and 90 calories per scoop (26.3g). I also use (and love) the vanilla protein from fitmixer (check out my review), which has 32g of protein and 190 calories per scoop (27g). I swear it tastes like vanilla cake batter.

Mal uses all of the protein powders mentioned above (he really likes the fitmixer), but he also started using the Beyond Raw Re-Built Mass (chocolate brownie) to gain weight/muscle. At the CrossFit Games, Scott and Joe raved about this stuff, so I suggested it to Mal and then GNC sent him some to try. The container that we received is absolutely massive. It’s basically the size of Murphy‘s torso! Haha! Mal loves it and says it tastes like brownie batter. I’ll let ya know if he builds some mass!
