Hi, friends!
I’m just popping in to share some photos from the last couple of days. Our little family is trying to soak up our final days of summer together, so we purposely planned some low-key days this week because the season will be over before we know it. Doesn’t it feel like July 4th was just the other day? It was a whirlwind summer for sure. Anyway, here we go!
This morning: Quinn checking out the bagel options while grabbing breakfast at Gunther Tooties.
Iced coffee PSA: The “Jamaican Me Crazy” flavor from Gunther Tooties is heavenly. I believe it’s chocolate + caramel. Heavenly.
Running errands with our “Little Maniac.” Him standing on his tip-toes is absolutely adorable.
Mal snapped this pic right after Quinn took a sip of his iced coffee. I swear, we took our eyes off him for 2 seconds! Haha!
Tempo run!
Eating on the run: Turkey sandwich with Creamy Swiss from The Laughing Cow + cucumber and tomato slices.
Cinnamon Raisin Honey Cookies = SO GOOD and they are Paleo, GAPS, & SCD-friendly.
Afternoon walk with My Little Love, who looks so grown-up in the photo below. He’ll be 15 months in less than 2 weeks. Where does the time go?
Future CrossFitter? Yesterday’s WOD took less than 15 minutes to complete, but it was intense: 5 rounds for time of 10 Hang Power Cleans (#65), 5 Thrusters (#65), and 400 meter run.
Late-night snack: Roasted red potatoes with ketchup + Sriracha.
Planting marigolds on the back deck.
Dinner: Scallops with summer squash, broccoli, and roasted red potatoes.
Ok, so let’s talk about Periscope. It’s the new big thing, and I *think* I like it. I just signed up the other day, and I’ve done a few broadcasts, but I’m still getting my feet wet and figuring it all out. If you’re on Periscope or thinking about joining, you can find me by searching ‘carrotsncake.’ And since I’m new to this Periscope stuff, do you guys have any requests for broadcasts? Anything specific you’d like me to chat about? I’m open to ideas! Let ’em rip!
Questions of the Day
Are you on Periscope? If not, have you ever heard of it?
Tell me something fun that happened in the last couple of days!

Soak up those last few family days of summer!
I’ve watched a few periscopes. The best ones are question & answer sessions.
Hearing about periscope all over the place and I’m really intrugued! Might have to finally sign up now.
I’ve been avoiding Periscope & Snapchat is a definite no for me. I will be curious what you think about it. A good Q&A might be how you plan what your workouts will be.
I love Periscope! I mainly follow other teachers (lots of good tips and ideas out there) and a few fitness/lifestyle bloggers. I’m going to look for you there! I think you can do all kinds of scopes: cooking/meal prep, home decorating, fitness tips, mommy stuff. Your blog is a great mix of all that and it works! But, I also like the informal let’s just Q&A scopes too.
I just heard about Periscope yesterday, so I have no idea how it works. I’m signed up, but I haven’t done anything yet.
I am not on Periscope but keep hearing about it! A fun thing that happened this week was celebrating my birthday. Iced coffee in the AM + flywheel + sushi = great birthday!
Happy birthday!!!
Looks like a fun couple of days! Plus, that iced coffee flavor sounds so yummy!
Those cookies are the bomb! Love all the flavors!
And I have seriously slacked on ice coffee this summer….I still always went for hot!
I joined periscope last week and have enjoyed your little videos so far! Especially the Murphy ones! Haha!
As far as future broadcasts maybe just everyday things and q&a sessions would be fun!
Diving into periscope as well and loving tips but also people just saying hi and showing their day to day. And Quinn sipping coffee and grabbing the weight bar is too cute! Monkey see, monkey do.
Back to school time is making me want to pursue more schooling”¦But with two little ones, I’m not sure that is in the cards. I would love some more info on how Periscope works when you have it all figured out : )
I joined Periscope a couple of weeks ago and I wasn’t even sure I knew what it was at that point…but I am loving it! Just one more thing for me to get wrapped up in, I guess. 😉
I’ve never heard of periscope… I’m a little behind the times on tech things. 🙂 I’ll check it out!
I like Periscope! i tried to watch your scope from this morning (walk n talk with Murphy), but it says you have your settings set to only broadcast to people that you are following. So maybe change your setting if you want your readers to be able to watch. Thanks!!
Ooohhh! I should definitely change that. Thanks for telling me!
Hi Tina, I just tried to comment on a Periscope you were doing (a walk and talk with Murphy) but you have comments blocked allowing only those you follow to comment. Not sure if you meant to have it set that way?? If you want to allow your followers that you don’t follow to chat with you, on the page where you type your scope title, you need to deactivate the third button that looks like a speech bubble. If you did mean to limit it, that’s fine. I just wasn’t sure you were aware.
Quinn lifting weights is so stinkin cute!!
I would love to see any random “day in the life” updates on periscope and snapchat. I’ve become a big snapchat fan for blogs because i think it’s cool to see life unedited and real – random updates from from you, murphy, mal and quinn would be so fun! 🙂
Every time I drink my coffe Matilda want some too! It really does go by so fast!
Oh my goodness, that picture of Quinn and you working out! I just can’t.
i had periscope then deleted it. I just might have to get it again! I left my coffee next to my nephew turned around to grab something, looked back and he was happily slurping my Dutch Bros!
I’ve never even heard of Periscope! What is it?
Quinn’s hair is always so cute. He’s got the little messy-hair, Einstein thing going on haha
I have not heard of Periscope! I will definitely check it out. I don’t listen to or watch many podcasts type things, but worth at least looking into.
The most exciting thing that happened in the past few days was having our second prenatal appointment and getting to see the little one. 11 and half weeks with our first. Definitely exciting/scary.
Very exciting! Congrats!!
@Tina: Thanks! I am so glad I found your blog in the past year and you just had little Q definitely been hitting up your previous posts regarding crossfit, pregnancy, and baby items!
Haha! Love the stolen swig of iced coffee–hopefully he didn’t develop a taste for it, but really who could blame him? 😉
I am new to periscope too! I love it! So far I am following mainly fitness Moms. I would love if you did a what I am loving lately Fitness/Mommy piece. We got squigz because I saw them on your blog! Holy perfectness for dining out with my son who is eight months. Thanks for sharing.
