Hi and happy Friday (the 13th)!
I’m still in Seattle today for the Brooks Running Innovation Summit. (I’m taking a red eye home tonight.) Yesterday, we learned all about some of the brand’s new shoes that are hitting the market in early 2020. They’re under wraps for now, but I’m excited to share the details once they debut. We also got to train with Shamrock (Shaddy) Biwott, who is a Brooks-sponsored athlete. He also came in 3rd place at last year’s Boston Marathon!
In today’s edition of The Friday 5, there’s everything from my new favorite sweet snack, life-changing book, and face serum… plus, a hilarious dog costume for Murph!
Enjoy your weekend!
1. Double Chocolate Protein Muffins from Health Warrior
I’ve been loving these double chocolate protein muffins from Health Warrior. They are not only gluten-free (made with chickpea flour), but are also low in sugar (just 6g) and have 13g of plant protein. Plus, they take just 1 minute to cook up in the microwave and they are delicious – definitely one of my new favorite healthy snacks or desserts!
2. Perfectly Imperfect Tank
Sweaty Betty gifted me the outfit below, and it couldn’t be more perfect for me. I’m ALL about the tank top. I strive to be “perfectly imperfect,” especially when it comes to healthy living. I truly believe the more imperfect you are with your habits and expectations, the more consistent and successful you’ll be in the long run. The leggings (Power Workout Leggings in Beetle Blue Interlinked Geo aka “bum-sculpting leggings”) are easily the comfiest I own, and they don’t show sweat AT ALL, which is super important to me because I’m the sweatiest person ever when I work out. These leggings are not only cute and comfy, but the super stretchy fabric and strategically placed seams literally shape and lift your bum—it’s not just an illusion!

3. Beautycounter Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum
I have been loving this serum from Beautycounter’s new Countertime skincare line. I use it at night after I cleanse and before I moisturize. The nights that I use the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, I skip the serum as they both contain active ingredients. The serum is designed to increase skin firmness and elasticity while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I’m starting to see improvements in just a few weeks!
4. Brave New Medicine by Cynthia Li, MD
This book was life-changing for me! I got an advanced copy from the author, but you can find it on Amazon. It’s written by a traditional western medicine doctor who is diagnosed with an automminue disease that knocks her down to the point where she can’t get off the couch. She shares how she totally changed her thinking to heal. It was really interesting to read about the mentality of a doctor’s point of view as she writes about the various elements to wellbeing. It’s a really good story, and I highly recommend this read if you’ve ever struggled with chronic disease.

5. Poop Factory Dog Costume
How stinkin’ (haha!) cute and hilarious is this poop factory dog costume!? We are definitely those people who dress up our dog for Halloween, and I think I know what Murphy’s wearing this year!
