The Fresh Diet

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

Iโ€™m the owner of Carrots โ€˜Nโ€™ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and canโ€™t lose weight no matter what they do.

Doesn’t tonight’s dinner look de-lic-ious?!?

And the best part: I didn’t have to cook a thing! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tonight’s dinner was provided by The Fresh Diet, a diet delivery service thatย offers a daily delivery of 3 freshly prepared gourmet meals and 2 snacks– right to your doorstep. The nice people at The Fresh Diet gave me a few days to try out their service for free. Sweet! ๐Ÿ˜€

Personally, I don’t think I could live off of a food delivery service for an extended period of time– I enjoy cooking too much– but having nutritious prepared meals delivered to my door is quite a treat! ๐Ÿ˜€

Monday’s Menu

Breakfast: Egg White Omelet with Cucumber, Dill, Smoked Salmon & Whole Wheat Toast

Lunch: Roasted Beet & Orange Salad with Baby Lettuce & Crumbled Goat Cheese & Raspberry Vinaigrette

Snack: Roasted Garlic & Herbs with Parmesan Whole Wheat Crostini

Dinner: Turkey Breast Scalopini with White Wine & Shallots with Baby Farmer Carrots and Honey Glazed Beets

Dessert: Pear Walnut Muffin

I didn’t eat the Fresh Diet meals like I was supposed to today. I forgot that they were being delivered and discovered them on my way out the door this morning, so Mal and I shared all of the food for dinner tonight. Everything was super fresh and delicious (as promised)!

I’m excited to see what I find on my doorstep tomorrow morning! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. I agree – I like to cook too much, But this is a great idea! That looks like a LOT of cheese on that salad too ๐Ÿ™‚ love it!

  2. I’m shocked by how much packaging went into just one day. Not an environmentally friendly habit to demonstrate, Tina.

  3. Fresh diet meals seem like they would be good to use during very busy weeks. With the summit fast approaching, I think the meals might come in handy for you! Did you have to do any heating/microwaving? Or are the meals intended to be eaten cold?

  4. i did these kinda diet meals for a few months a few years ago. boy was it convenient and fun! but, i have to admit i really missed cooking and felt like it was a waste when i ate out with friends. things started to pile up in my fridge and i felt so bad about all that packaging!!! it was great though when i was really busy.

  5. Where did you hear about this? Could be a real good idea when you know your going to be super busy with something, or you know your going on vacation and don’t have much food in the house. but i agree with everyone else, i think i would miss cooking my own food, and i’m sure this could get pretty expensive! but that dinner does look delish for sure! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I think food delivery is an interesting concept, but I don’t think I would be able to last long on this kind of diet. Eating out of a box everything would make me feel like an animal. I love being able to prepare my own meals, but I see where someone who doesn’t enjoy cooking would benefit from this.

I love how well rounded you are in your reviews. You truly have a taste of everything food! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Are you getting a baby Pug delivered tomorrow? If so, congrats! A dog is such a wonderful part of life, I can’t even imagine my life without my constant companion, Shadow. He is just the best!

  8. HAH! I love that you guys just shared the food for dinner. I’ve dabbled in the meal delivery thing myself here in NYC just to see what it was like. I’ve never been able to see myself eating the food long term but it was definitely nice not having to plan/think about any of my meals for a week or so! I tried NuKitchen actually and the meals were surprisingly delicious!

  9. Oh that’s really cool!! so much better than other delivery things (like Nutrisystem – which my boss is doing). Those meals look really yummy!

  10. That would be fun to try for a couple days -especially for me now, having a new baby at home. But, I agree, I enjoy cooking to much to ever have the need for it as a full time service. Maybe if they could just come and clean up after I’ve prepared the meals? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Interesting! It’s too bad there’s not an option to get everything in only one package (maybe like a segmented TV-dinner style thingie). Even so, I’m looking forward to see what you get next – this is a great idea for a busy lifestyle and even w/ the packaging I’d rate it way better than fast food.

  12. I’ve never been able to stomach beets! I will try any veggie, but this one just is like eating bitter dirt! Any thoughts on covering up the beet taste? ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Overall I love the delivery idea though. Unlike everyone else who seems to post, I HATE cooking, so if I could have someone deliver meals to me that would be AWESOME.

  14. i think this is a bit wasteful….money & environmentally! ๐Ÿ™ i’m a bit disappointed in you. plus, now we can’t learn from your fun cooking!

  15. Yum! Everything looks delish! I agree, that I could never use one of those services for very long due to my love of cooking, but it would be nice to have as a back-up!

  16. I think it’s a great idea for people who don’t like to cook or don’t have the time to cook but want to eat healthy. My old boss would have been perfect for this. He was single, wanted to lose weight, worked a ton and did not want to cook. Obviously, this is not a solution for EVERYONE but it’s nice to know there are options out there. Different strokes for different folks…

  17. That does look good but I have to say it pains me to see all that plastic being wasted! I would suggest to the people at The Fresh Diet that they start using reusable Tupperware that customers can return to be washed and used again, or at least compostable, biodegradable materials (hopefully Boston has composting bins somewhere!).

Sorry, forgot to add great post! Can’t wait to see your next post!

  19. What a fun taste test opportunity! I do agree with you, however, that I would really miss cooking. I love shopping for food, preparing food, and eating homemade meals. You might get some interesting ideas from these meals, though!

  20. If everyone concerned about the excessive packaging e-mails the company, maybe they’ll take the comments into consideration…worth a try!

  21. Honestly the food looks nasty – esp. that turkey and the omelet. And reheated / recooked food for every meal? No thank you. You can bet its FULL of preservatives (did you ask for the ingredients?) Plus – croutons for a snack?? What am I missing here. This is gross. And it doesn’t even look that healthy – lots of garbage carbs (the muffin, the croutons, and that bread which is clearly not whole grain). I am surprised you would endorse this, being a healthy blogger.

Not to mention I was shocked by how environmentally unfriendly this is. Bad, bad, bad all around.

  22. Hi Tina!
I have been following your blog for a few months now! I love it, and look forward to your daily posts ๐Ÿ™‚ I was hoping that you could help me out a little!! My boyfriend and I are visiting Boston at the end of August ( We are from Ontario,Canada ) and although the Boston tourism sites have been great… I was wondering if you would be willing to share some of your favorite restaurants, and “must sees” … museums, shopping, etc. Hopefully I am not being too much of a pain ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d really appreciate it!

  23. A friend of mine did a diet deliver service and was shocked to find the food was full of HFCS, trans fats, lost of preservatives. Do these foods have ingredient lables on them?

  24. it really does look yummy ..
thats A LOT of cheese in that salad though haha

the egg white salmon thing looks the best to me, oh and the muffins ๐Ÿ˜€

i also would not be happy not cooking though, i probably enjoy that part more than eating ! well .. maybe not, but its at leasy equal

  25. I did the zone diet deliveries a few years ago when I was trying to lose weight. The food was pretty good but I really missed having a say in what I was going to eat. I missed healthy foods like hummus. Weird. Looks like a fun treat, though, and there is definitely a target market for this kind of stuff. Not everyone loves cooking like we do ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. I just started this diet yesterday, and so far so good!! I wish more people would post photos of how the meals look. I am doing the same, but on my facebook page. And for the person who comments she could not eat out of a box all the time, you don’t have too!!! I place my food on a pretty plate, heat it up, set the table nicely like I would be in restaurant ….it’s all about presentation with me, to make this a treat, not torture.
