Good morning and happy day before Thanksgiving!
I’m a big fan of exercising on Thanksgiving morning before I eat a huge meal and one million desserts, so I wanted to share a full-body, butt-kicking workout that I really think you guys will enjoy. I used a barbell for this one, but dumbbells or a kettlebell would work too!

I linked to each of the individual movements below, but if you have any questions about them, please let me know.
Please note: The rep scheme is Thanksgiving-themed since it’s tomorrow’s date (11-26-15). Have fun! It’s a good one for sure!
Did you happen to notice the awesome new flooring in our home gym? It’s made from recycled rolled rubber (there’s even car tires mixed in) and it’s actually very inexpensive, but extremely durable at the same time.
And, of course, a little someone wanted to help “Dada” install it. Installation was a piece of cake. We went with the Double Sided Tape Installation, which took no time at all. Basically, we just unrolled the flooring, measured it, and then cut it with a utility knife. Easy-peasy. We had a brand new gym floor in about 20 minutes!
Our new gym flooring is perfect for protecting our floors from weighted bars, dumbbells, and kettlebells. It also has an anti-slip surface to help keep traction when doing various lateral movements. FYI: We got the 1/4″ roll option, which is recommended for use in home gyms and exercise rooms. (Can we talk about Quinn with the banana in the photo below? Clearly, he was pumped about our new floor!)
Nice work, Dada! High five!

Question of the Day
Are you planning to work out tomorrow before your Thanksgiving festivities? If so, what’s your activity of choice?

There is nothing like starting your day with a workout! I love at home options that use little to no equipment since I’ll be traveling and limited.
I am seriously jealous of your at home workout space. Looks great girl!
That looks like a great workout, but tomorrow I’m running my local turkey trot. I’ve been doing it for about 5 years now, I just love starting my day of indulgence with a run, and it benefits one of our local animal shelters, so it’s for a great cause!
I’ll have to do this with a kettlebell! Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family!
I aspire to lift that heavy of weights—GO YOU!!
Love skater jumps. I’ve been really falling behind with exercise lately and am pretty much only doing push-up parties these days—but every bit counts! Maybe I’ll give this workout a try this week and start getting back into it 🙂
I can’t get over how cute your little man is in all the pics 🙂
haha Quinn’s sudden appearance made this post!! Too cute 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
I would love to do this workout tomorrow! Do you just do one time through? Not that it’s “just” but I wasn’t sure..
Thanks for the great idea and Happy Thanksgiving!
You can do it more than once!
I agree with you on working out on Thanksgiving. It’s helps you want to eat better and not as much junk! This looks really cool! Now if only I had a space to build a home gym.
Our local Y is closed with the exception of one Boot Camp class. I WILL be there!
What weight did you use and for how many minutes? It looks great!
I am running my hometown Turkey Trot! Should be fun. Love your workout, will have to try something similar some time. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Hi Tina,
I’m super curious about your flooring :). I have a home gym and want new flooring, ours is just carpet with a couple of mats made out of the same material as your floor. Did you remove the flooring underneath? Is your flooring carpet or hard surface underneath? Thank you!
It’s just carpet underneath. The flooring worked great over it!
@Tina: Is it a berber carpet or more of a looped, thick carpet underneath?
It’s definitely more of a flat/high traffic carpet.
That flooring is really cool! I’m planning to get in a run or maybe a hike with my dogs.
I would love to have a work out space like yours at home! So jealous of you! Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow so I probably won’t have much time for a morning work out. However nice it may sounds….
I am running a 5 mile turkey trot tomorrow morning to get my thanksgiving off to a good start!
I always love working out Thanksgiving morning. I used to go hiking or running, but nowadays I go swim laps. I will be doing that tomorrow morning while my husband watches our newborn baby. Can’t wait to get together with friends.
I Turkey Trot every Thanksgiving morning and this year my friend and I are both bringing our newborns!
Love the flooring! My Dad owns a flooring company and I’m doing something similar in our new house. Can’t wait!
Thanks for the workout idea! As much as I’m loving all the pictures Lucie is taking of you, I wasn’t a huge fan of these. I was trying to figure out why, and kept thinking, “this just doesn’t look like Tina”. Then I realized, it’s because you’re not wearing your headband! Haha!
Love the workout! Thanks 🙂
I know I’m late on this, but my husband and I are setting up a home gym in our basement now and are looking for gym flooring. How has it held up for you? You purchased the rolls or the squares? How was the installation? The squares seem much easier to deal with but they are a lot more expensive. My husband is concerned that the rolls are a pain to install and might curl up on the edges over time. Just wanted to get your feedback.
Definitely! It’s held up great and we really love it. Installation was a piece of cake. It took no time at all!
