The marathon is just 4 days from today! FOUR!! AHHHH! I can’t believe it. I really can’t believe it. I am so excited and so nervous at the same time. At this point, I know I need to just trust my training, stop obsessively checking the weather forecast, and focus on the things that I can control, like my OUTFIT for race day. I’ve also received quite a few questions from readers about what I am wearing…

Good morning! Happy Sunday! Right now, I’m on my way to Cape Cod for the Falmouth Road Race. Boy, do I hope I’m ready! I’ve been running pretty consistently since my not-so-great performance at the ZOOMA 10K, but I haven’t run more than 6 miles at once and, well, Falmouth is 7 miles. However, I remember at the beginning of June, I was struggling with running 3 or 4 miles without dying and stopping a…

Hi, friends! Happy Friday! It feels like a survey-type of morning, so here’s a running-themed Q & A that I saw on Julie‘s blog awhile back. It was fun to do and definitely motivated me to go for a run today! Best Run Ever Easy. Reach the Beach with Team Off Balance. We had such a blast! I would love to relive that 24 hours! Three Words that Describe My Running Fun, social, and sporadic….

Hi, friends! Happy Monday! So, not only did I survive the Army 10-Miler, I PR-ed that bad boy! Booyah! A huge thanks to Anne and Theodora for getting me through it! Bright and early on Sunday morning, Katie and I left her condo to catch the Metro to the race. We arrived a little after 7:00 AM and then went to check our bags. While we were walking to our different drop-off locations, Katie and…

Back to the Reach the Beach adventures… Two thumbs up for night running!!! Actually, it’s pretty scary. Ok, it’s kind of fun, but mostly scary. I guess I’m on the fence about night running. At 1:00 AM, I woke up totally disorientated and pretty exhausted. I knew I didn’t have much time to get ready for my second leg (6.51 miles), so I climbed out of the van, found my duffle bag, and dressed myself…

Sooooooo, I’m running a half marathon on Saturday. I should probably run or something like that, huh? I have a couple of short runs planned for this week, but, at this point, it’s too late to really train for this thing. I just need to hope for the best, have fun, and listen to my body on race day. I’m pretty confident I’ll finish. It just might not be very pretty. Oh, well. There will…

Good morning! I’m so glad it’s Thursday because I have a fun day ahead. It involves spending a few hours at NuVal, getting free bagels at Bruegger’s, and then meeting up with my friend Jen for a media event followed by an overnight stay at a Boston hotel. It’s all good stuff today, and I’m excited! Breakfast I’m on a real oatmeal kick lately. I thought about making Protein Pancakes this morning, but I really just…

Remember my post from the other day about the holiday season starting too soon? Well, apparently, I’m not the only one who feels like Thanksgiving doesn’t get enough attention: A national survey from Allrecipes found 82% of Americans think Christmas is marketed too early. Moreover, 42% admit being frustrated by Christmas shopping sales that begin before Thanksgiving while 39% just try to ignore them. To commit myself to fully enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday, I recently…

There’s something about running distances over 13 miles that bugs me out. I’ve completed a number of half marathons, so I’m totally confident with my ability to run that distance, but when it comes to anything longer, I start to question my running abilities. It happens every time. This lack of confidence plagued me throughout most of training for my first marathon. In fact, the night before each of my Saturday long runs, I doubted my…

While training for my first marathon over the past 4.5 months, I’ve learned what I need (and don’t need) to run well. Some products are more essential than others, but these are the ones that I can’t live (run) without. Garmin Forerunner 305 My Garmin Forerunner 305 is easily my favorite piece of running equipment. In fact, it’s changed the way that I run. To read my full Garmin 305 review, click over to this post. Mizuno Women’s…

“If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail.” Wise, wise words with regard to running (and life, in general) from Steve Prefontaine. Actually, he has a lot of great running quotes. Here are a few of my favorites: “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” “You cannot propel yourself forward by patting yourself on the back.” “Success isn’t how far you got, but the distance you traveled from where you started.” As…

Mal and I headed into uncharted territory this morning. We each ran fourteen miles, which is the longest distance that either of us have ever run. Hooray!! I was psyched to finish today! As you probably know, I’m in the process of testing out fuel for my long runs, so I tried a Honey Stinger on this morning’s training run. The other day, Monica sent me a whole slew of her favorite products to try out….

I did it! Twelve miles! Twelve miles is the farthest I’ve run since May 2009 when I did the Run to Remember. I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty proud of myself right now! 😉 Breakfast Before heading to Southie to meet our team, I ate my go-to breakfast: peanut butter + banana on Sandwich Thins (or whole wheat bread). I also drank an iced coffee with soy milk. So far, this meal is working out fabulously….
