Hi, friends! I woke up to the fuzzy face of a cutie-pie Golden Retriever this morning. Brody is the sweetest pup! Once we got out of bed, Mal and I took a quick trip to Caffe Ladro for iced coffees. The last time we were in Seattle a few years ago, we fell in love with their coffee, so it was a priority to visit this morning. I added soy milk to my iced coffee….

Hello and greetings from Seattle! Mal and I arrived safe and sound a little while ago. Now, we’re waiting for his luggage (he checked his snowboard boots and bindings), so I figured I’d blog while we had some downtime. Our day started bright and early (aka in the middle of the night) with a 2:45 AM wake-up call. (I’m pretty sure it was the earliest I’ve ever woken up for a flight.) A cab arrived at our…

On my vacation, my favorite eating experience of the whole week was at a sustainable sandwich shop, called Homegrown. The goal at Homegrown is not only to create sandwiches out of sustainable ingredients, but also to make sandwich creation sustainable itself. This goes beyond using fresh, sustainable ingredients in our gourmet sandwiches, salads and soups. Homegrown strives for sustainability as a local business through the green materials we print and serve on, to our rejection of bottled…

For Father’s Day, we (Mal, his father, sister, step-mother, grandmother, and I) celebrated with a late brunch at Salty’s on Alki Beach. I’ve never been to a restaurant like Salty’s before. It’s truly in a class all by itself. The view is one of the best in Seattle and the seafood and friendly, attentive service is one of the best I have encountered ever.  Salty’s is known for its impressive Sunday brunch buffet. I’m not…

Hello from the Victoria Clipper IV! The Clipper is so cool! What a fun way to travel! Interesting facts about the Clipper: The Victoria Clippers are some of the world’s fastest catamarans. The speed of the Clipper is about 35 miles per hour. The 71-mile voyage between Seattle and Victoria takes about 2.5 – 3 hours. For breakfast, I grabbed a quick egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. I didn’t snap a pic…

My father-in-law turned 64-years-young today. Happy birthday, Garner!!! We’ve been eating out so much, we decided to celebrate with a low-key dinner at Sibylle’s condo, which was an excellent way to spend the evening. It was so nice to just chill with family.  We started with a cocktail hour and appetizers: cheese & crackers and hummus & cucumbers.  We toasted to the birthday boy with a round of white wine.  This was a delicious wine! …

This morning, Mal and I woke up bright and early to explore Fremont and grab a light breakfast. We have lunch plans with his sister and his parents later today, so we didn’t want to fill up with a big meal.  On our walk through Fremont, we found a huge statue of Lenin. Being the history dork buff that he is, Mal, of course, wanted a photo taken with him.  A number of readers suggested…

Hi, guys! I am loovvving Seattle! I’ve taken lots of pics, but I haven’t blogged much because of my uploader issue. But, just this morning, I found a way around it! I used Ecto to upload my photos then published them to my blog and it worked! Sweet!  I’m a little behind on my posts, but here are some of the highlights from yesterday’s adventures. (You guys can also follow my vacation on Twitter!) Cafe Ladro Before breakfast…

As expected, Sibylle’s 30th birthday bash was a total BLAST! 😀 The night included all of the essential party elements: an attractive venue, tasty eats, a special drink menu, a heartfelt slideshow, an active dance floor, and non-stop good times with family and friends. From the look of it, everyone really enjoyed themselves! The party was held at Sole Repair in the First Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Sole Repair is a private event facility with a sort of Manhattan loft feel…

I LOVE Seattle!!! What a fun city! Unfortunately, my stupid WordPress/Flash photo uploader is broken, so I can’t upload all of my photos from the day. Well, I can, but only one at a time and it takes for-ever. If you have any idea how to fix this problem, please let me know! I did, however, manage to upload my favorite photo of the day! This afternoon, I met Pebbles the pug at the Summer…

Hi, guys! Mal and I landed in Seattle late last night, so we crashed as soon as we arrived at my sister-in-law’s apartment. I slept like a rock last night, but being on Boston time, I woke up bright at early around 6:00 AM (PST). It was quiet, so I finished next week’s Feel Great Weight article before waking-up Mal for a coffee run.  Mal’s sister, Sibylle, lives in such a fun part of Seattle, called…

It’s kind of fun blogging from an airplane. It’s definitely a first for me! Ok, let’s backtrack to lunch. This afternoon, my friend, Jen, took me out to lunch for my birthday. I wasn’t planning to drink, but as soon as Jen ordered an “extra spicy Bloody Mary,” I knew that I wanted one too. Hey, it’s my birthday! We had lunch at The Fours, where I ordered a bowl of chili, which was topped…
