Let me start off by saying that I don’t like amusement parks. I think they’re cheesy and overpriced, and I’d rather spend my time and money elsewhere. However, I’m a big fan of the Harry Potter books. At first, I didn’t think Harry Potter was for me. Wizards and magic? Totally not my thing. But, my husband fell in love with the Harry Potter books right from the beginning, so he insisted that I give…

I am stuffed. I may never eat again. My culinary tour of Orlando was amazing in so many ways, but I’m so glad that it’s over! My final day in Orlando started with blog friends! 😀 Meghann, Katy, and Katy joined me for breakfast at Harvest in the Hilton where I was staying. I knew that I had a full day of eating ahead of me, so I ordered a light meal: fruit salad +…

My second day in Orlando was a busy one. It started with breakfast a Bull & Bear, followed by lunch at Pho 88, chocolate-making at Farris and Foster’s, beer-drinkin’ at the Orlando Brewing Company, and it concluded with a lovely dinner at Le Coq Au Vin. Le Coq Au Vin offers a fresh twist on traditional French cuisine by implementing new world flavors with classic dishes. They utilize the philosophy “from farm to the table”…

After lunch at Pho 88, our group headed to a really neat chocolate shop in picturesque Baldwin Park. Farris and Foster’s Famous Chocolate Factory is a chocoholic’s heaven! But, you don’t just get to eat the chocolate– you get to make it too! We got to get our hands dirty making our very own chocolates with some help from co-owner, J. Foster Lanenga, and his staff. “Foster” demonstrated the various techniques for making truffles, lollipops,…

On Friday, our group visited the Orlando Brewing Company, which is Florida’s only certified organic brewery. All of the beer is brewed right on the premises, so it is as fresh as can be. There are more than a dozen beers on draft in their Tap Room and even more in bottles. Free tours of the brewery are offered daily. When we arrived, Orlando Brewing Company’s President (and self-proclaimed beer snob), John Creek, offered us…

Tonight, I had the pleasure of attending the 6th Annual Red Chair Affair at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre in Orlando. The Red Chair Project is a public service designed to increase participation in the Orlando/Central Florida arts and cultural community by building awareness. As a collaborative campaign involving arts and cultural organizations from Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties, Red Chair Project is the ultimate resource for learning what to do…

After a big breakfast at Bull & Bear, we headed to Pho 88 in the Vimi district for lunch. Pho 88 is a family-owned restaurant that offers a huge selection of authentic Vietnamese dishes. By just browsing the menu, I knew we were in for a treat. I just had to make some room in my stomach! 😉 We started with a bunch of appetizers to share among the table. We had Spring Rolls with…

When it comes to running, this New England gal is not used to the Florida humidity. I thought that I was going to melt on my 6 mile run this morning. Somehow, I survived, and now I’m enjoying a delicious iced coffee in my hotel suite. One of the best parts about my job (besides the food!) is running in other cities. It’s a great way to “explore” a new area. I’ve run in San…

Even after enjoying a huge meal at La Luce, I woke up with a grumbling stomach the next morning. Luckily, my first meal of the day was a hearty one. I enjoyed a wonderful steak and eggs breakfast at Bull & Bear in the Waldorf Astoria. The Waldorf Astoria was gorgeous inside! I absolutely loved the color palette of the lobby parlors. And the peacock rug!! I want one in my apartment! 😉 As soon as…

I spent the entire day eating. No joke, I spent more time eating than not eating today. Our group literally left one eating establishment to go to the next to eat more. It was crazy. It was totally awesome, but crazy. I’ve never eaten so much in one day. It’s a good thing I like to eat! 😉 So much happened today, I’ve decided to blog about it in five different posts. I don’t think…

Greetings from Orlando!! 😎 This afternoon, when I checked into the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, I had the following conversation: Front desk lady: Welcome to Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, Mrs. Haupert. I see that you are staying with us for four nights. Me: Thank you. Yes, I am. Front desk lady: Would you like one key or two? Me: One is fine. Thanks. Front desk lady: One key for each room? Me: **blank stare** Front desk lady:…
