One of the most common questions I receive from IBD patients is how long does it take for Entyvio to work? And, really, it depends on the person and their disease. Obviously, I’m not a doctor, but I’m more than happy to share my experience with Entyvio and ulcerative colitis. I started Entyvio after I failed Remicade. Actually, it never really worked for me. I went to the hospital every 8 weeks for Remicade infusions…

Happy December, friends! Today marks the start of the Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Week! And because December kicks off Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Week, I had the opportunity to appear on the cover of Healthmonitor’s Guide to Living with IBD! Yep, that’s right – I’m IBD famous! 🙂 FYI: The magazine is available in doctor’s offices and you can read the full issue here! All jokes aside, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my journey…

I’ve partnered with Deep River Snacks to bring you this blog post. As always, thank you for supporting CNC! It’s finally April, which means we are on the homestretch (fingers crossed!) to some warmer weather here in the Northeast! April will hopefully be the month we all come out of winter hibernation – but did you know that it’s also National Volunteer Month? It’s so important for me to be able to spend my time…

Hi, guys! Just wanted to share what my doctor said when I asked him if I could stop Entyvio. I received a bunch of questions on social media about his response, so I figured I should fill you guys in over here. Photo by Marcelo Leal on Unsplash Ok, first a little backstory… My GI doctor that I loved so much left MGH to work for Takeda, the company that makes Entyvio. This makes me both sad and…

Hi, guys! Today has been the slowest day ever. Maybe it’s because I was up so early? Or maybe it’s because I miss my sweet boy after having him home with me yesterday? We have a “date” after school to get his hair cut, which involves a lollipop and prize, so we’re both very much looking forward to it. After I dropped off Qman at school, I headed home to eat breakfast and then get…

The very first spin4 Crohn’s & Colitis Cures in Boston was a huge success, and the event raised more than $40,000 to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America(CCFA)! Woohoo! The first ever spin4 event launched last year in 9 cities across the country with 650 people in attendance raising nearly $400,000. This year, the indoor cycling relay will be held in over 20 cities with Boston being one of the first. There isn’t a cure (yet) for Crohn’s…

Hi guys! On October 30th, I will be participating in spin4 Crohn’s & Colitis Cures, an indoor cycling relay to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). The CCFA is the leading non-profit organization dedicated to finding cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These diseases are collectively known as IBD or inflammatory bowel disease and there is not cure (yet). Since the organization’s founding in 1967, the CCFA has funded over $285 million in…

Hey, hey! I had my 5th Entyvio infusion earlier today, so I wanted to give you guys an update on my health and how things are going. Long story short: I’m doing better. I’m taking a combination of drugs now (Entyvio + Budesonide + Cortifoam + Hydrocortisone), which are mostly keeping me healthy. I’m far from 100 percent, but there’s still a chance that the Entyvio will work, so I’m hoping and praying it kicks in soon. (FYI…

Now that summer is just about here, I’m all about getting outside and enjoying the warm weather. And, for me, this means one of two things: 1) listening to my favorite podcasts and books on my early-morning runs (before it gets too hot outside) and 2) relaxing on the beach with a good book. As we all know, a book can inspires new ideas and ways of thinking that have the power to transform our lives (i.e….

In honor of World IBD Day today, I wanted to share some advice about what has helped me over the years with anyone who is newly diagnosed or struggling with IBD on a regular basis. Nearly 5 years after my own diagnosis, I still don’t have all the answers, but I’m more than happy to share my experience with the hope of it helping others. Find a doctor who you trust and respect – This is…

Last Sunday, I attended the 2016 Boston Patient & Family IBD Symposium, which was hosted by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). It was a half-day event (with breakfast!) for people living with IBD as well as their families. The agenda included a number of interesting and educational talks from top doctors in the area, including “IBD Outside the Gut” (the disease and its associated drugs can affect many other parts of the body) as well as “IBD…

Hello, hello! I can’t believe it’s Thursday already. I feel like Monday and Tuesday totally dragged, but yesterday flew by. Hey, I’m not complaining… I have a fun weekend ahead of me! Breakfast Yesterday’s breakfast was a repeat of Tuesday’s breakfast, but I added more almond butter this time for some extra staying power. Nut butter sticks to my ribs! After breakfast I got right to work. I managed to get a lot accomplished yesterday,…
