Woohoo! It’s officially taper time! My wonderful and amazing friend Monica flew out from California to run my last long run with me. (Now that’s a GREAT friend, right!?) I had 20 miles on my training plan (well, technically, 3:00) and we thought it would be fun to do a race together, so we ran the Duxbury Half Marathon + some miles before the start. Rise ‘n’ shine, it’s running time! Monica and I were already running on the…

I think I’m feeling better this afternoon. I’m far from well, but things aren’t getting worse for once! Hey, I’ll take it. Lunch Lunch was sliced turkey on a toasted gluten-free bagel with sweet potato wedges on the side. This lunch tasted great and didn’t give me any issues. Awesome. Snack A little while later, I snacked on a NRG Bar, which was made with all sorts of whole grains, which didn’t seem to upset my…

Heat?! What heat? Team Quincy is totally cool! I’m so glad that I woke up early to run with Back on My Feet this morning. I missed my friends! It was also nice to see some new faces in the group! I ran two miles with BOMF and then did two miles on my own at home. When I returned from my run, I made myself an iced coffee with soy milk and vanilla protein…

Happy birthday to Back on My Feet Boston!!! This morning, I had the pleasure of celebrating this milestone with members of the BOMF Boston community at a Birthday Breakfast, which was held at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. It was a morning of celebration, inspiration, and a chance to applaud the many accomplishments of members, volunteers, and supporters, who have changed lives through the program. Last year, I attended this same event, but I wasn’t…

What a beautiful morning for a run! I met the Back on My Feet folks for an early morning workout at the outdoor track at the YMCA. Today, I did a lot more walking than running, but I also did a lot more talking than I usually do. Apparently, we were a chatty group this morning! Even still, we covered about three miles. When I got home, a tired pug face greeted me as soon…

When I attended the Back on My Feet (BOMF) orientation in early March, Vic Acosta, Executive Director for BOMF, told the group that if we joined and got to know the residents, we’d have our hearts broken by them in one of two ways: They’d stop running with BOMF because they fell back into their old ways. They’d stop running with BOMF because they got themselves back on their feet with a new job, place…

My gosh, I’ve been such a scatterbrain today. Listen to my morning so far. Like every Wednesday morning, I woke up at 4:45 to run with Back on My Feet. I got on the highway to drive to Father Bill’s Place, but I missed the exit. I didn’t realize what did until two exits later, so I got off the highway and weaved my way back through Quincy. I ended up only being about 5…

Good morning! Happy Hump Day! I’m not going to lie, I sort of want one of these buttons. I’d probably wear it too. (Pug people are weird. But, I guess you already know that, right?) Last Night’s Workout SUPER FUN workout last night!! I love changing it up! I met Marie, her friend, Faran, and a new internet friend, Mary, for a bootcamp-style workout at our gym. I love trying new workouts and it was…

Chia pug? So ridiculous, but I love it. Here are some more photos of chia dogs! Lunch I often receive questions from readers about chia seeds, which I eat almost every day”” just like today in my smoothie that I drank for lunch. In the mix: half of a frozen banana, raspberries, almond milk, vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, and a scoop of almond butter. I also ate a bowl of leftover roasted broccoli for lunch….

I thought today was the day that our Back on My Feet team would run outside, but, sadly, it was still too cold. It was just 37 degrees at 5:15 this morning. Maybe next week we’ll get outside? Rumor has it that it’s supposed to warm up here in Boston! 😎 Breakfast When I got home, I made myself two pieces of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and banana slices. It was nothing fancy,…

Wahoo! Awesome dinner last night! Mal and I made Asian Rice and Vegetable Bowl With Eggs and Chili Sauce for our guests last night. The recipe called for so many delicious flavors”” many of which had a little kick to them! I love that! Dave and Marie weren’t coming over until about 7:00 pm, so Mal and I had plenty of time to prep for dinner and relax before they arrived. Once we had dinner…

I forgot how much I like homemade pita chips. I used to make them all of the time, but somehow I forgot about them until last night. Mal did the meal planning for the week and picked a recipe that I saved from last year’s Healthy Living Summit for Southwest Taco Salad. It called for tortilla chips, but he forgot to buy them at the grocery store, so I suggested the homemade variety. Problem solved!…
