Sweet Yoga

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Good morning!

I skipped writing this morning, but I did so for good reason: YOGA! Sweet, sweet yoga!

Yoga Challenge

This morning, I did a 20-minute Yoga for Runners session from Yogadownload.com. It was perfect for my, oh, so tight hamstrings and hips. Check out the class description:

Yoga for Runners was designed with the runner in mind, but is a flow for everyone to enjoy. This Power Yoga class helps you to enjoy life to the fullest, and will enhance your experience in any activity you choose: hiking, cycling, climbing, running, walking, or simply going about your busy day. Use this class after any athletic activity to stretch and lengthen your muscles, or any time you are looking to slow down, become focused and create space in your body and mind. Ahhh, you we feel amazing, refreshed, and renewed!

Yoga for Runners was great– my practice, however, was not so great. I’m so inflexible now-a-days! Some of the poses actually hurt! 😕 I really enjoyed the lower body stretching and the core work, but I found myself losing my balance and breathing weird a number of times. And, as always, my mind drifted all over the place– to breakfast, book writing, blogging, etc. It’s only my first day back on the yoga train, so I’m sure it’ll get easier the more I practice.

How are you doing with the Yoga Challenge?

I made Mal and me a special breakfast this morning: Pumpkin French Toast!

In my Pumpkin French Toast batter was liquid egg whites, vanilla soy milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and a scoop of canned pumpkin, which mixed right in.

On the side, I had a small serving of cantaloupe.

It was so fun eating French toast during the work week! 😀 It’s such a weekend meal to me.

After a finished eating my Pumpkin French Toast, I decided to mix the rest of my iced coffee with a scoop of chocolate protein powder. I figured that I needed a little more protein in my breakfast.

Question of the Day

If there was a magic pill that would keep you in shape, would you still exercise?

P.S. Check out my recent grocery shopping on Trading Up Downtown! 😉

  1. My first thought was “Heck no I wouldn’t keep exercising!”. But then I realized that when I’m anxious, frustrated, or listening to some really good music, exercise makes things better. I’d still exercise, but not as much, and I wouldn’t get so angry with myself for skipping workouts!

  2. I would never exercise again!! I wouldn’t have to deal with being sweaty and thirsty and sore. Plus I would have more extra free time spent with my family instead of at the gym alone running off extra chub!!

  3. I’m training for a half marathon (less than a month away) and developed terrible hip pain this past week. I’m guessing it’s from overtraining but don’t know what to do! I can’t run and all forms of crosstraining are crazy painful too. What did you do when hip pain interfered with your training last spring?

  4. Yoga in the morning is one of the best ways to start the day, in my opinion. However, our bodies are tight when we first get up. It’s a good idea to take your time in letting your body ‘wake-up’ and to concentrate more on stretching before moving onto some of the more challenging poses. I just came back from yoga class and I feel amazing! I was actually feeling not 100% before class, and after about 10 minutes of working up a good lather and ‘feeling’ my body, I am feeling great!

  5. as a pharmacist, TONS of college girls have been asking me which diet pill is the best…of course I told them “if there was one that worked, I’d be on it”. Anyhoo…even if I was skinny from the pill, I would still want muscle definition! but if the pill helped with weight loss and magically made me tone…HECK NO.

  6. I would definitely still exercise. It is my “me” time and allows me to zone out and de-stress. I would never give up my exercise sessions!

  7. That french toast looks fab. Yep…gotta say I’d exercise. When I work out I just feel better in general. Plus it helps me sleep better at night!

  8. I’m going to be doing my own yoga challenge next week, centered around Jillian Michaels workouts. Her new YOGA dvd came out yesterday, and I can’t wait to try it out!!

  9. Answer to the question of the day:
Heck ya!! When I work out, I know I not only make a difference on the outside, but on the inside, too. It makes me feel good.

  10. I just wanted to say “thank you!” for the yoga challenge. I have a slight overuse injury on my hip and I have been doing more weight lifting and different cardio to rest my hip… running was the cause. I decided to try the yoga class today at my gym because of your challenge. It was a great stress reliever and an awesome stretch for my hips! I can see the benefits of doing yoga once a week.
