Hey there!

What a weekend!! 😎

For once in a long time, I actually felt like I was able to enjoy a vacation… and it was so awesome! Now that blogging is my full-time job, I rarely take time off, but, sometimes, it’s nice to take a break– even though, I still posted photo recaps of my weekend with a total of 25 words! 😉

Mal, Murphy, and I spent the night at Fanny Farm with Dave and Marie and their puppies. We all slept-in and puttered around the house in our PJs before heading to breakfast at Bagels Plus in Acton. I ordered their grilled veggie sandwich with Swiss cheese on a toasted sunflower seed bagel.

Sunflower bagels rule. I had no idea how delicious they’d be. They’re similar to sesame seed bagels, but I guess I prefer the flavor and chewiness of the sunflower seeds over the sesame seeds.

Mmmmm! I can’t wait to replicate this sandwich at home! 😀

I also drank some iced coffee with breakfast.

I have a crazy, crazy week ahead, so I spent 5 hours catching up/getting ahead on work for the week, so I never really ate a “real” lunch. Basically, I ended up snacking all afternoon long.

I started with a bowl of granola + Puffins and soy milk X 2.

Then munched on a TON of pitted dates.

And some walnuts. (These photos show just some of what I ate!)

I finished off my snack attacked with some pickles.

For dinner, Mal and I headed to Milton Marketplace to grab dinner and a few groceries for the week.

On the menu tonight were Make-Your-Own-Salads. So fun! 😀

Check out this salad bar!!! It seriously has everything— marinated tofu, Asian coleslaw, edamame, stuffed grapes leaves, sun-dried tomatoes, chickpea patties, falafel balls, hummus, buffalo chicken tenders, breaded artichoke hearts, every bean salad imaginable, and tons and tons of fresh fruits and veggies. I could have easily made a $20 salad with all of the different options.

The salad bar also had Cinnamon and Sugar Pita Chips, which I grabbed for dessert.

My dessert:

Mal and I ate our salads while celebrating Sunday Movie Night. (We watched Duplicity with Julia Roberta and Clive Owen.) The Make-Your-Own-Salads were such a hit, we might add this meal to our weekly tradition.

I also enjoyed a few M&Ms while watching the movie.

I’m making overnight oats then reading in bed.

Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

  1. That salad bar is AMAZING. I have never seen anything like it!

I’ve never seen that movie… but I hope it’s good… also I’m glad you had a vacation, but I’m also glad to see you back blogging. 🙂

  2. WHOA that’s an awesome salad bar!!!! Dang, I can see how you could go a little overboard. I looked at the original Milton Markplace post- that place looks incredible! I could spend all day in there 😛

  3. That bagel sandwich looks delicious! Very fresh. I woke up this morning craving carbs and ended up inhaling a huge chunk of challah bread. Hey, it works! 😉

  4. I MUST try that bagel someday. I’m a sunflower seed fanatic. I’ve been munching on seeds after dinner all week long and I polished off a jar of sunflower seed butter in record time. I <3 sunflower seeds!!

  5. Yay for a great weekend and some MUCH deserved time off!! U are my blogger inspiration and I know how hard it can be to disconnect; but I’m so glad u did 🙂 now back in action!!!

  6. You definitely deserve some time off- especially on weekends when not many people are reading blogs anyway! See you tomorrow!

  7. Holy CHEESE in that BAGEL! Holy SALAD! Ohhhhh, gosh. Your eats are amazing. I’m hungry now 🙁

I’m glad you had a good break – from work and from blogging! I hope it was very relaxing for you. 🙂

  8. Your fantastic looking bagel sando reminds me of this fabulous bagel sandwich that I used to get a Finagle at Bagel when I worked at the Harvard University Box Office. I went to BU but hopped the red line to work at Harvard and it was a great way to get off my own campus and take in another. I don’t remember the details of my ever-so-amazing bagel (it’s 9 years and a lot of beers later)…but damn was it good.

  9. That looks like such an insanely delicious day to me! I wish we had a place like that make-your-own-salad place in my city in Australia… instead, I’ll just have to triple the amount of sugar and cinnamon in my oatmeal and pretend it’s a bowl of pita chips! 😀

  10. That’s probably one of the best looking bagels I have ever seen! (I’m a bagel fiend. I could likely live off a bagels and that is it haha)
What a great looking salad bar! I am a fan too because you can choose anything you want!
That’s great you had a nice weekend!

  11. Wow your weekend looked like it was fun with a bunch of good eats! That bagel looks really good and the salad bar looks amazing! I’ve never seen one so huge before! It must’ve been expensive though, but hey, sometimes it’s worth it 😉

  12. Omg that salad bar is epic! All that choice, I wouldn’t know where to start! Your salad looks really good though.
I’m glad you enjoyed your break. The 2 posts with pics only in were great. You showed what you were doing whithout having to go into a full blown post.
Hope you are refreshed after your weekend away.
