Wow-wee! What a weekend! I sort of wish that I could relive the whole thing. It was such a blast from beginning to end!
Breakfast
This morning, Mal and I slept in until about 8:30 and then headed downstairs to grab breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations for breakfast after reading the menu, but I was pleasantly surprised when my meal was served. I ordered the fried egg sandwich, which came with homefries on the side.
The egg sandwich was served with bacon, roasted tomato, and plenty of cheddar cheese. The sandwich was massive, so I ended up removing the bacon and one of the eggs (there were 2!), but, somehow, I still managed to eat practically all of it! It was THAT good– especially the greasy, grilled sourdough bread with loads of cheese. š
Lunch
Breakfast held me over for hours and hours, so when lunchtime rolled around, I just made myself a small snack: two pieces of toasted Carrots Raisin Manna Bread with butter smeared on top.
When the Manna Bread folks asked me to sample some of their breads, I jumped at the chance. They had some many delicious-sounding varities: Carrots Raisin, Banana Walnut Hemp, Fig Fennel Flax, and Cinnamon Date. Mmm! Plus, the website describes their breads as “moist, delicious, cake-like…and simply heavenly!” Um, yes, I would like to try some Manna Bread!
The Carrot Raisin Manna Bread tasted just like a carrot raisin muffin– same texture, consistency, flavor. It was basically muffin bread. Delish!
Dinner
After my indulgent weekend (week, month?), I kept dinner light with a big salad, topped with canned salmon and balsamic vinegar.
Raw veggies never tasted so good!
For dessert, I enjoyed a few caramels from the candy bowl.
It’s Sunday Movie Night, so Mal and I have plans to get into our PJ’s, chill on the couch, and watch our newest Netflix DVD: The Men Who Stare at Goats. Sounds like an interesting movie, right?!? (I think it might be time for me to take over our Netflix queue.)
Enjoy the last few hours of your weekend! Back to the grind tomorrow!
Good night!

That breakfast does look good š Sunday nights are always a bit more depressing when you know you had a great weekend! Good thing you have movie night!
Let me know what you think of that movie! š
And your breakfast (and lunch!) look delicious.
That bread looks wonderful! Can you buy it at a regular grocery?
I’m going to guess you fell asleep during the movie… because I would have!
Hahah! I went and saw that movie in theatres for some reason… it was so hilariously ridiculous stupid! The whole thing’s just one huge acid trip, lol.
Any bread that tastes like a muffin sounds good to me!
That’s so great your birthday weekend was wonderful!
The Manna bread looks amazing!! I really have to look into that for sure! I love carrot anything!
That manna bread looks sooo delicious – I’ve never seen it before! I looked on their site and unfortunately you can only order the bread in a pack of 8 loafs. And as much as I love my carbs, I don’t think my freezer can handle 7 loafs of bread, haha. I’ll have to stay on the lookout for it around here.
Muffin bread is a fantastic idea!! I need to get my hands on some of that.
Glad you enjoyed your weekend, Tina. Looked like a blast!
That Manna bread sounds pretty good, especially the Cinnamon Date.

Mmm that breakfast sandwich looks awesome. I almost thought that was pork roll on there! Do people outside of the Philly area even eat that!? Let us know how the movie was!
mmm manna bread sounds amazing! i wasn’t really crazy about that movie – i saw it in the theater but maybe i was just not in the proper frame of mind. if you do take over the queue, add my movie “saving face” to the list! i’m not sure it’s mal’s cup of tea, but you would probably like it.
Manna Bread is SO. GOOD. I literally couldn’t believe how good it was when I first tried it! You should try the Cinnamon Date variety – it’s delicious!
What did you think about the movie? It was filmed in Roswell, NM where I grew up!
I love that bread, and it’s 100x better toasted!
I have wanted to try the manna bread since reading your post, but have no idea where to find it. I’m in the boston area too, where do you get it? I haven’t had a chance to look in whole foods yet, but I know for sure trader joe’s and stop&shop don’t have it.
