Good morning! Happy Monday!
It’s Mal last day of school today, so summer begins for us at 2:05 PM when the last bell of the year rings. I know the official first day of summer is Wednesday, but summer starts for me as soon as Mal is out of school. I love having him around during the day; we have a lot of fun together.
With summer finally here, I decided to create a Summer Bucket List with all of the things I want to make sure I do in the next few months since summer always seems to fly by.
Not surprisingly, I headed to Pinterest to create my Summer Bucket List since I’m a huge fan of Pinterest boards and bucket lists (i.e. my Fitness Bucket List).
Here’s what I have on my Summer Bucket List:
- Take a road trip
- Eat ice cream at Kimball’s
- Spend a day at the beach
- Eat watermelon
- Run a summer road race
- Play cornhole
- Swim in the ocean
- Go boating
- Play mini golf
- Have drinks at East Bay Grille
- Shop at a farmer’s market
- Attend an outdoor performance
- Go on a picnic
- Eat strawberries with whipped cream <— my Grammie calls this “skinny dipping”
- Explore downtown Hingham
- Dine at Caffe Tasca
- Play Polish Horseshoes
- Go swimming at Funny Farm
I’m so excited about this list. Most of these things I do nearly every summer, but there are a few that sometimes just don’t happen because I run out of time, but, hopefully, making this list will help me accomplish them all. I definitely want to take full advantage of summer!
[rewind to last night]
Snack
During “cocktail hour,” Mal and I sat on the sun porch and relaxed with Murphy. I enjoyed a Skinny Piña Colada and a crap-ton of cashews. Once I start with cashews, I can’t stop!
Dinner
Mal and I don’t often repeat dinner recipes, but when we do, you know it’s a good one! Last night’s dinner: Gingery Beef and Broccoli. Delish!
I went back for a second serving after eating this one””it was so good!
After dinner, I satisfied my sweet tooth with an Adora disk dipped into almond butter.
Breakfast
This morning, I woke up bright and early to make Mal a nice breakfast before his last day of school. On the menu: OMG Pancakes!
Toppings: almond butter, raspberries, and maple syrup.
Mmmmmmm!
I also poured us a couple of glasses of iced coffee, but they tasted gross. The last batch that I brewed had a weird aftertaste (it reminded me of burnt/bourbon-y), but I just thought it had been sitting in the fridge too long. I actually think our coffeemaker might need a cleaning. I’ve heard running white vinegar + water through it will clean it right out, so that’s the plan for later today. Let’s hope it works””I can’t deal with crappy iced coffee!
Obviously, starting our day without iced coffee was just wasn’t going to happen, so Mal and I (and Murphy) took a trip to Marylou’s.
I went with my beloved Peanut Butter Wonderful iced coffee.
New Balance Flip Flop Giveaway
Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway to win a pair of New Balance flip flops. Here are your winners:
Sarah
I love flipflops because they feel soooo good after a long run or a hard workout!
Jamie
I love flips flops because they look sporty. I don’t like wearing my running shoes out and a flip flop goes with my cute running clothes and a summer dress, plus it shows off my pedicure

What’s on your Summer Bucket List?

Fun list! I want to swim in the Great Salt Lake and do a ride in the mountains with my husband. I also will complete a Half Ironman (but that’s a goal too-nut just a ‘bucket’ list item). Oh, and go to the Farmer’s market. I need to get my butt there!
Teachers are so lucky that they get the whole summer off! I wish I had thought of becoming a teacher when I was in college! I would like to get as much beach time as I can get this summer!
you should definitely do the hingham farmer’s market, there’s one on saturday and wednesday its so great! one of the best around! the saturday one is usually packed but wednesday is more of an express version and pretty good too!
Ahhh, Kimballs 🙂 A weekly occurrence for me- I live in the town over! If you haven’t already, you must get Coffee Oreo. to DIE for!
Coffee Orea is on my Pinterest board! It’s my favorite! 🙂
My summer bucket list is:
-Try Standup Paddle Boarding at North Avenue Beach
-train successfully for my first 1/2 marathon in september
-Go to the beach a couple of times
-Try to stick with cross fit
-Bake a mean desert
Summer Bucket List: To spend a day at Lake Lanier (a nearby lake), sign up for a 5k or 10k, grill out at least once a week, and get our house “finished” (we just moved in and there’s still some things to be done). 🙂
I love that blue cup you’re sipping your skinny cocktail out of! It makes the drink look so summery and refreshing!
Thanks! They’re one of my favorite wedding gifts! 🙂
Great idea! Good luck crossing everything off the list and have fun!
I just made myself some “monogrammed” cornhole boards. They are pretty awesome.
Very cool!
Love the idea of a summer bucket list. I’ve added a new one, to “borrow” your words use the expression “crap-ton” as much as possible. Seriously, love it…it describes some things PERFECTLY!!! 🙂 Have a great Monday Tina.
To spend as many days at the beach as possible! Our summers are way too short so I don’t want to take any nice day for granted.
On my Summer Bucket list is ..
-Afternoon cocktails @ a beach side location
-Run and swim from one beach to the next
-Wake up for sunrise!
Love your list! Lots of good ideas 🙂
I thought the drink was blue, not the cup!
When does Mal start school? I’m in SC and we got out 2 weeks ago (I’m teaching summer school though). I am guessing you all must go back later. For his sake I hope so.
He usually starts after Labor Day.
I need to write out a list for myself too! This summer I want to go canoeing, eat at Adobo’s (a local Mexican restaurant), go on a bike ride to The Works (a burger place), run my first race, and have a water balloon fight!
I love this idea! I feel like summer is already half over even though the temperatures just warmed up. I am moving to a brand new state so I hope to partake in some serious farmers market exploration!
I’m the same way! I get annoyed if I have a bad cup of iced coffee. Having iced coffee just starts my day off with me being in a happier state.
OMG Kimballs!!!!! SO good! My friend got married near there a few years ago and we went on a hayride/apple picking/ice cream at Kimball’s and it.was.amazing. Now I really want to visit there again! Great idea.
Just got back home from two on my bucket list.
Yosemite…breathtaking!
Fern Canyon….gooorgeous!!
Ride bike as often as I can. Farmer’s markets. Grill often. Definitely get to the ocean a couple of times!
On my list…make some delicious summer meals, play tennis, do another triathlon, make QT for my BOY, do yoga outside, commute by bike, and enjoy every moment!
Ahhh I’ve been organizing my bucket list on pinterest too!
Love the list!
My sister and I just split our list into threes with her husband. Mine are eat a nice dinner outside, run a 5k with friends, and read on the beach. Interestingly enough, my sister and bro in law are done with their lists, and mine hasn’t even been started!
