Still Standing

I can’t believe that I am still standing after the day I had yesterday. I woke up at 6:30 AM, ran 14 miles, ate second breakfast, stretched, showered, and drove more than an hour out into the ‘burbs.

Of course, Mal and I took this little guy with us:

On the drive, we took at pit-stop at Starbucks to grab a couple of iced soy lattes. Mal ordered peppermint; I ordered pumpkin.

Fun times in the car!

A little while later, we arrived at my mom’s new house. Mal hadn’t visited yet, so my mom gave him a tour of the place. Mal liked it a lot. Murphy did too! 😀

Then, we checked out the backyard.

Murphy had a blast running around and sniffing new smells. At one point, the pug felt a bit adventurous and ran into the neighbor’s yard, so Mal went to retrieve him.

The next stop of the day was Mal’s parents’ house. Luckily, they live about 10 minutes away from my mom! 😀

Murphy loves Funny Farm!

LOVES it!

At Funny Farm, we explored the barn to find furniture for our new house.

Mal and I decided to get rid of almost all of our Ikea furniture to make way for “new” stuff that we plan to refurbish ourselves. We both like rustic/antique-y/country decor, so we figured we could save some serious money and give ourselves some fun home projects by using old furniture from the barn. Plus, Mal’s parents were more than happy for us to take it off their hands!

Mal and I found LOTS of goodies! 😀

Most of the pieces require a lot of work, but I think we can do it!

Even after a few hours of exploring Funny Farm, Murphy did not want to leave. He was having so much fun! Mal had to bribe him with promises of “cheese” to get him our of the horse pasture.

Eventually, we hit the road back to Boston.

On the drive, I ordered a pizza with mushrooms, peppers, and black olives to pick-up for dinner. As soon as we got home, I wolfed down three pieces.

And a Peanut Butter Cup cupcake.

Mmmmm!

Not even an hour later, I headed out the door to a friend’s Halloween party. While there, I drank three Shipyard Pumpkinhead beers.

And ate a zillion potato chips.

I stink at taking photos at parties, so these were the only two that I snapped. Even still, I had a great time!

Thankfully, I have a low-key Sunday today! 😀

  1. Tina!! I LOVE your dog!!! I laugh everytime I see his face. You make me really want to get a pug…are the easy to train/ good dogs? Also- can I come to the funny farm so I can have some furniture too? 🙂

  2. I would have loved looking for furniture finds at Funny Farm! I also like rustic/country style furniture, and when I/we had our first few places, found and refinished a lot of pieces. It’s so rewarding to fix found stuff up even though it’s a lot of work.

  3. Great idea with the furniture! I don’t care for Ikea! (Not to say I don’t own any hahaha, I’ve got a couple Ikea items secondhand hah!) But this other furniture will last a lifetime as opposed to one move! And it will be unique!

  4. Only three slices of pizza and a cupcake? If I had run 14 miles, I would have downed the whole pie! But that would be counterintuitive, wouldn’t it?

  5. LOVE that Shipyard beer! Perfect for fall. Also loving the rustic stamp you’ll be putting on your home. Can’t wait to see it all come together!

  6. Looks like your training appetite caught up with you 🙂 What a fun day and I’m excited to see the furniture you picked out. I too love the rustic, country look and refinishing it yourselves sounds like fun (and hard work!)

  7. So fun that you are doing all the furniture yourself. Can’t wait to see! That cupcake… looks… incredible! I have to ask, where did you get it?!

  8. That’s an awesome idea to refurbish some of that old furniture! I did that when I redid my room this summer and it definitely gave my room a more rustic and special feel than if I had used Ikea furniture. I can’t wait to see how it turns out for you!

  9. That farm is awesome! Your pictures just scream fall! My Florida does not look like your Northeast AT ALL! 🙂

I am jealous of your Shipyards…I haven’t had one all season! Can’t find it locally 🙁

Your pizza looks DELISH. Hope you are enjoying the rest of your weekend!

  10. I am so jealous of your shopping in the barn. I love to redo old stuff, especially furniture. What a perfect way to furnish your new place. Can’t wait to see how everything turns out. Congrats on your long run.

  11. That’s so cool that you and Mal are doing your own furniture!! You three seem like ya’ll have so much fun together – I love reading about it! 😀
