Sprinkle + Yulefest 5k {Weekend}

Hellooooo and happy, happy, happy Monday to you!

We had quite a busy weekend over here, so let’s get right to it with a weekend recap!

FRIDAY

Day 11: Take a family photo!

SATURDAY

Mal recently joined a new CrossFit, so Quinn and I went with him to check it out on Saturday morning.

The WOD was a partner workout, so Mal and I teamed up, which meant we needed to share a bar and pick a weight that worked for the both of us. We went with #75, which was fine until about, oooh, round 3 when the push presses started to kick my butt. I ended up push jerking the rest of the reps, so we definitely should have scaled back. Oh well. It was still a fun way to break a sweat together. I miss working out with Mal!

Also important to note: The workout required that you didn’t put down the bar between exercises (only rounds), which definitely made it a lot more challenging!

After CrossFit, we headed to Starbucks to complete Day 12 of 24 Days of Togetherness: Get holiday drinks from Starbucks. Mal ordered an iced peppermint latte, and I went with an iced Americano with eggnog. Mmm! Related: I heard the Flat White is incredible. Opinions? I definitely want to try it!

Back at home, I quickly showered and then headed to my sister’s Sprinkle. Never heard of a Sprinkle? It’s basically a light baby shower. Instead of “showering” the mom-to-be with gifts, like you would with a baby shower, you “sprinkle” her with just a few necessities.

The super cute sign below is from Sunflower Paperie. Kate, the owner, also did the decorations for my mom’s 60thQuinn’s birthday party, and my baby shower. Clearly, I’m a huge fan! And Kate is offering CNC readers free shipping for domestic customers until the end of the year with code CNCFREE.

My sister’s Sprinkle was so nice and she received all sorts of adorable baby girl clothing. Little Karli is going to be one well-dressed little girl!

SUNDAY

On Sunday morning, I joined the KFIT ladies for the Yulefest 5K, which, once again, was an incredible time!

The race was a lot of fun (and super duper crowded), and I somehow managed to beat my time from last year by 14 seconds (24:42)! Heyyyyyy!

And yesterday was alllllllll about the post-race party. Our group was so big, we had our own VIP tent!

Isn’t this Suzy Kuzy Beer Mitt amazing?! I totally want one!

I drank approximately 197 hard ciders… a PR for sure!

  1. I’ve heard great things about the flag white too! I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but I did have a white chocolate raspberry latte from a local coffee shop this weekend that was incredible!

  2. I haven’t tried the flat white yet, but I’m super intrigued by the holiday spice version of it. May need to try. I’m all about the gingerbread at Starbucks around this time of the year and I’m a big fan of peppermint, so I’ll need to get one of those in soon.

Nice job on the 5k PR! I have yet to run a race, but I’m more of a casual runner. I think it would be fun to try one day.

Quinn looks like he’s totally into crossfit! 😀

  3. Fun weekend! We decided to make a list and just pick and chose things as we go along this year instead of the random drawing things. Except I’ve been studying for my group fitness instructor exam and we kind of slacked off so now we get to double up all week!

  4. Hi Tina!

I have a question – my brother and his wife have a home gym, they are very into crossfit and the same type of workouts you guys do. I want to get them a nice timer for the gym – do you have any suggestions? I would like to find one that has a tabata timer too..any ideas would be appreciated!!!

  5. My two favorite kids Christmas books are Mortimer’s Christmas Manger and The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. They both make me a little teary though so be forewarned. Oooh- I just looked up the Jonathan Toomey book to make sure I had the title right and someone made a movie out of it!

  6. That beer kozy mitt is hilarious! I’ve never done a Christmas race, they look like a lot of fun.
Definitely try a flat white. When I was in New Zealand I had them all the time because that’s what everyone drinks. Then I came home and suddenly Starbucks makes them.

  7. Looks like a full and fun weekend! My favorite Christmas story is now the book on tape that my favorite and now passed on grandmother recorded for my 2 year old of her reading The Night Before Christmas. Brings tears to my eyes every time!

The Holiday Spice Flat White is sooooooooo goooooooood. I am drinking one right now! I can’t take overly sweet, and this is perfect. I actually prefer it with a half scoop of “holiday spice” rather than the whole scoop.

  8. That’s a lot of hard ciders! Sounds like a super fun race! I can’t believe how quickly December is flying by! I love this time of year, so I hope the time slows down a bit. Sounds like a fun weekend, happy Monday!

  9. I was super excited to try the flat white when it came out, but I was less than impressed (tasted like a latte to me, womp womp). I am intrigued to try the Holiday Spiced version though!

  10. It looks like such a great weekend! You really inspire to get back into exercising. I haven’t really done anything the past couple of months. First I got injuired and then I just didn’t have time when I was finally ready to move again (I know, poor excuse). But this Friday my semester is over and done with and I have a good 6-week vacation so exercise is on the list and I can’t wait! Thank you for inspiring me 🙂

  11. Sprinkle? I have never heard of that but it’s so cute! And congrats on your PR – you are running really strongly right now, yay! Also, I love how you are doing these daily togetherness recaps – they are so adorable and fun to read about!

  12. Great to see that you are enjoying the holiday season to the max! I’ve tried Starbuck’s Flat White with coconut milk and I thought it was a delicious treat. Hope you and Mal continue to enjoy the 24 Days of Togetherness 🙂
