What a beautiful afternoon!
We have blue skies!
Birds chirping!
Melting snow!
And patches of grass!
It’s starting to feel spring-ish in Boston! Hooray! š
Workout
I started my Yoga Challenge off on the right foot by purchasing an unlimited two-week pass to a yoga studio that recently opened in my neighborhood. It’s been on my radar for a few weeks now, so I figured the start of the Challenge was the perfect time to buy a pass and recommit to my yoga practice. Spending money on fitness-related stuff always motivates me. I hate to waste money! Does spending money motivate you to exercise/stick to your workouts?
The class that I did this morning was a 75-minute Vinyasa. The first Downward Facing Dog almost killed me, but my legs eventually loosened up. I can’t even explain how much better they feel after that class! I feel like a new woman! And, somehow, my IT bands aren’t sore anymore? I dunno how it happened, but I’ll take it!
Lunch
After yoga, I did a few quick errands and then headed home for lunch. I was famished! I threw together a quick salad with roasted cauliflower and Garlic Gold Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette drizzled on top.
Lunch also included a banana-chocolate smoothie. In the mix: frozen banana, almond milk, chia seeds, vanilla protein powder, Greek yogurt, and cocoa powder. So yum!
Work, work, workin’ all afternoon long!

Mmmm, that smoothie looks fab. Yay for spring! It’s starting to feel like spring where I live, too.
Downward dog is amazing, huh? š It looking like Spring all over- the snow on the mountains is the only place that still looks Winteresque around here…..p.s. I love your smoothie kick, it is very enticing š
I am one of those people who thinks yoga helps just about anything – glad you are doing this challenge š š
I recently started doing yoga too, and I love it! My body really does feel SO much better after a great session!
I am the SAME way. If I spend money on something, it is the best motivator to get me to follow through with it!
The first downward dog of a yoga class is always brutal, but about 60 minutes into a 90 minute class, I am praying it’s the next position called! š
It’s a beautiful day here too…nothing more motivating!
Downward dogs make me feel good too. I don’t do them often enough.
It is sunny here too –slowly the snow is melting and I cannot wait to see green grass.
Downward facing dog and pigeon pose are the two yoga poses I make sure to do before and after every run. They feel so good!
Aah you’re lucky you’re getting spring – I was wrapped up in my warmest clothes today, SO COLD! And grey, and wet…aka England. Boohiss.
It’s bright and sunny here, too!! Definitely makes me feel that spring is on its way!
I need to get back into Yoga. I used to love it! I also have IT band issues, and I am intrigued that it seemed to help your IT soreness… even more reason to get back into Yoga!
Yea, it’s very strange. Usually, if I even touch my IT bands, they are sore. But, now, I barely feel any soreness!
So glad you have a 2 week yoga pass…and that after awhile your legs loosened up in downward dog. Funny how that happens, isnt it š
Congrats!
I love the way my legs feel after a good stretch from yoga–especially hot yoga!!
I’m so jealous of your spring weather! In Alaska the temps are still in the teens. š
I have a strong craving for a downward facing dog right now!
i’ve started going to body flow (yoga/pilates combo thing) and oh my goodness, i love the way i feel after it. always keeps me coming back for more.
spending money usually motivates me, but out of guilt to not waste money. no inspiration to be active.
I swear yoga “un”-does what running does to our bodies. All the tightness and stiffness is gone in just 1 class!
Exactly! I think the same thing!
I actually went for a run outside in shorts today! Spring is definitely near! š
Enjoy your spring like weather Tina! It is beautiful here, but kind of chilly. I am loving the sunlight though!
oh yeah, whenever i buy a yoga pass i make sure to use it EVERY day. (not sure if that’s good or not, just sayin’. š ) glad to hear your legs are feel great!
It’s so warm here I might die of excitement. I heart spring!
ooooh what lovely Spring photos!
I love buying new workout clothes! I bought new outdoor running clothes for this winter to train for my second half, and now that it’s getting to be nicer out, it looks like I’ll have to make my way onto buying new SPRING outdoor workout clothes! Hooray! I can’t wait to continue training outside. The treadmill is just not fun anymore.
I hate wasting money! It’s a huge motivating factor. I want to get my money’s worth out of my gym membership.
Definitley, especially when I buy cute workout clothes. Also, whenever I buy a new song off iTunes that really peps me up I get super excited about listening to it, especially when I’m pushing a faster pace.
The weather there looks delightful! It was like that here (Pacific Northwest) a couple weeks ago and then last night, wham! 2.5 feet of snow. š Can’t wait for spring and herb gardening!
Spending money on new running shoes always gets me out the door because I can’t bear to let $100 gather dust in my closet!
I have Spring fevaaaa too!
Spending money absolutely is motivating. I just bought a hot yoga pass, and it’s too pricey to waste. You think Vinyasa is good – try bikram!
I’m so jealous!!! I’m just up in NH and there is soooo much snow in my yard. I feel like I’m never going to see grass again!
I can’t believe this weather lately! Our trees are already blooming!! š
I am definitely more motivated to workout if I spent money! I work at a gym, so I have a free pass, but I also have a pass for another gym that I bought before I started working there and can’t cancel. Knowing that I already paid for it makes me take advantage of it š
I’m pretty sure downward dog would actually kill me. just sayin’.
Spending money completely motivates me–I hate wasting it by paying for a class and not attending!
Can’t wait for spring! Have fun at the More half, I ran it two years ago and it was awesome.
That smoothie is making my mouth water…I may have to make one of my own tonight!
in the past, i’ve spent lots of $$$ thinking it’d get me to work out – outfits, trainers, fancy locker room, etc. but i ended up not doing it and it made me feel worse!!!
the only thing that gets me to work out? when my job depends on it – like a movie role. but since that hasn’t been the case for over a year, i haven’t been to the gym since!!!
I just tried Yoga 2 weeks ago for the first time and realized it was a big thing missing in my life! I loved how I felt afterwards, and after a long run it was really releasing. I’m now going once a week and hope to increase that when I have time.
I love all the small signs of spring that are popping up around town!
I definitely need more yoga in my life. But, I just am not translating those words into actions.
Paying money definitely motivates me to exercise! I buy a group exercise class each semester, which keeps me going to a few classes a week. Each class is gonna average to a dollar or less by the end of the semester!
Yay spring!! Thank god
The snow is starting to melt here too! I’m so excited!
That’s a good idea to buy a yoga pass. Going to classes is so much better than doing online videos!
Yeah for spring in Boston! If I had paid for a membership, that would definitely give me the incentive to use it. š
It may sound silly, but if I wear nicer gym clothes (which entails spending money, haha) I’m definitely more motivated to work out!
Yay for Spring!!! Only 20 more days. š
It’s sort of spring in WI too, at last at last!
I am so jealous that you can see grass! We have a long way to go in northern MA! lol
Aww, I love Spring. It’s the season that promises life and brighter days! How was the yoga session? I’ve been meaning to try it for some time, though I feel like cycling would be fitter for me.
As a fellow Bostonian, I can definitley relate to the excitement of the sun today and its return tomorrow. We deserve it after this winter!
Yoga is such an amazing mind and body workout. I always find that when I do it, I feel so much more in tune with myself..and alot more flexible. For some reason, I always fall off the Yoga wagon after some time. But when I pick it up again, I always wonder why I ever stopped!
I am loving all those smoothie creations you’ve been making! TOday was nicer outside too. I was actually playing out back with the pup with no coat!!
