I love wedding showers! Actually, I love pretty much everything that has to do with weddings! It’s funny because before getting engaged, I was not at all into weddings. I know some women have their dream wedding planned out in their heads from about the time they are 16-years-old, but that wasn’t me. Mal and I are actually the first of friends to get engaged (then married), so I didn’t really have any expectations for the Big Day. Ok, so I totally just went on a tangent– sorry about that! 😉
Her Favorite Color
The wedding shower that I attended on Sunday afternoon can best be described as “spring chic.” Spring green dominated the shower’s decor and food– from the flowers to the plates and napkins to the frosting on the cupcakes. Ashley’s bridesmaids did a wonderful job!
How cute are these cupcakes? I feel like they should be on the cover of Real Simple magazine! If you can believe it, they tasted even better than they look!
Food
The spread of food at Ashley’s shower was impressive— with healthy and colorful selections including raw veggies, fruit salad, pasta salad, mini sandwiches and wraps, and a whole slew of delectable desserts.
Before diving into the food, I sipped on a small glass of Ménage à Trois white wine, which is a blend of Chardonnay, Muscat and Chenin Blanc.
My green plate: turkey and cheese in a green wrap, fruit salad, chocolate-covered strawberry, and a green frosted cupcake.
Inside the chocolate-covered strawberry was a delightful surprise: cheesecake filling! Holy yum!!!
Gifts and Games
While the bride-to-be opened gifts, her guests played a round of Bridal Bingo.
Each of the words in the bingo squares were associated with Ashley or her fiance– including their favorite things, places they went, nicknames for each other, their pets’ names, etc. We used Hershey’s kisses for the bingo markers.
While playing Bridal Bingo, I helped myself to another half glass of wine and a sugar cookie with green sprinkles on top.
About 10 minutes later, I grabbed another cookie. They were GOOD!
What a lovely shower! I think Ashley really enjoyed herself! Now I really can’t wait for her bachelorette and actual wedding!
