I’m such a sap when it comes to marathon stuff. I get teary-eyed at the Boston Marathon every single year, I almost cried (tears of happiness) when I finished 18 miles last weekend, and I can barely read my favorite running quotes without getting a little choked-up thinking about my own upcoming marathon.
So, I guess I really wasn’t surprised when I fought back tears watching the Spirit of the Marathon with my TNT team this evening. I felt like such a dork, but this marathon stuff is really emotional for me. I just want it so badly!
The Spirit of the Marathon is a documentary film that chronicles the journey of six marathon runners while they train and compete in the 2005 Chicago Marathon. Our team watched it together to psyched ourselves up for next weekend’s 20-miler.
After watching the film, I definitely feel good about running 20 miles. Let’s just hope my foot heals ASAP! 😯
Before the film started, we snacked on appetizers and pizza.
I went with two pieces the Buffalo Chicken variety.
As a sweet treat, I brought a big batch of Salted Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. I’ve eaten at least a dozen of them all by myself today!
I also had the pleasure of meeting an adorable (and stylish) French bulldog this evening.
Our hosts, Elizabeth and Nick, brought Clark to hang out during the movie. Of course, I was obsessed with him. Don’t you think Murph and Clark would be best buds!?
Enjoy the evening, guys!
I’m thinking about running my first marathon in Chicago (and by thinking I mean I totally am but you can’t sign up yet). Its my hometown and so I watched Spirit of the Marathon last week and I totally cried. It really pumped me up to run!
I can’t wait to see this movie…it is in my Netflix queue and part of my must-watch for Christmas break!
I think Murphy would be jealous of how stylish Clarke is 🙂
You’ll have your marathon before you know it, Tina!
It’s awesome you are so passionate about the marathon! You go girl:)
I should watch that movie – perhaps it will motivate me to train for another half again!
I’m thinking about adding the salted oatmeal cookies to my Christmas cookie list – they look amazing!
AHHHHH that dog is so cute! I <3 French bulldogs so much. Tina:Pugs as Paige:Frenchies.
Glad you're getting psyched up for your marathon with your team!
I have heard so much about that movie, I would love to watch it. What a cute dog, I’m a sucker for cute little dogs even though we’ve had labs my entire life.
I abs loveeee that film! So inspiring to see people of all ages running!
I watched that movie the week before my marathon in october and definitely choked back tears the whole time!
I am so excited about your marathon! I’ve heard that movie is good, maybe I’ll be inspired to run a marathon if I watch it.
I am the same way! After I finished my first 1/2 marathon, I cried like a baby and every long training run, I would burst into tears after each mile farther I would complete each week. You are not a sap, just a passionate runner. 😉
i LOVE that documentary…. i never really wanted to run a full until i watched that!!!
I get choked up about running and the marathon too…I love standing on the sidelines and giving the runners encouragement and high fives. So excited to hear about the rest of your marathon journey 🙂
So nice to see someone that can eat as many cookies as me!! I just started training for a marathon…need to watch that movie!
Murphy would love that dog. They are a perfect match.
that is one cute pup!
Hope you enjoy your evening too! And I bet I would be all emotional too. It’s an exciting thing coming up and the anticipation is high.
i am a total sap too – i am fighting back tears in nearly every movie i watch!
I really want to watch that movie! It’s on my list of MUST see movies before my half- marathon next month! 🙂
I think Clark and Murph are destined to be pals. 🙂 We had so much fun with you and Mal. Thanks for coming over, and for bringing those amazing cookies. I can’t believe we’re running 20 miles on Saturday– hope you guys have a great week!
I love their chairs!!
What a fun time. Sounds like you guys are becoming a close-knit group 🙂
What a cute dog!
I cried big fat tears of joy as I crossed the finish line of my first half marathon.
Also, I watched a movie in an exercise nutrition class about a group of people who were completely sedentary, and they trained together to run Boston. It was incredible and so inspiring… I cried in class!
I love that movie and I watch it a few days before every big race. Such a great inspiration!
I love that movie/documentary! I watched it last year, and it is so inspirational.
Clark is so cute with his sweater!!!
I have wanted to see that movie but I keep forgetting to look for it on Netflix. I’ve heard it is wonderful and very moving!
Clarke is adorable…almost as adorable as Murphy. Almost.
I get super emotional about running too for some reason – you’re not the only one out there! 🙂
That bulldog is soo cute! Him and Murphy would be bff.
Aw, a picture of Murphy and Clark together with their faces would be too cute for words. In fact, it just might crash my computer.. 🙂
I worked at a marathon yesterday and even seeing all the people afterward was such an inspiration..I want to sign up for it next year!!
Best of luck!
that french bulldog is the cutest little guy…i love his sweater!
You’re going to love running a marathon! You’re made for it!
Clark!! Elizabeth and I have been bloggie friends for a while now and I am trying to figure out how to clone Clark as I want him all for myself!!
I’ve never ran anything close to a marathon but that movie was so touching. I definitely teared up watching it.
It’s wonderful that you’ve found something you’re so passionate about 🙂 Also, are bulldogs and pugs related? They look similar…
I got emotional at my marathon too. I can’t wait for my next one. 🙂
What a cute dog!!
i think my french bulldog, gucci, needs to meet clark. 🙂
What makes a cute dog even cuter? Teeny tiny sweaters!!!
I know it’s kinda cheesy, but I love dogs in outfits haha
I’m thinking about buying a little Christmas sweater for our new pug 🙂
We missed you and your husband today @ the Honolulu Marathon this morning. Hopefully we will see you next year! It was a great run. Many more to come though 🙂
Clark is quite the well-dressed French bulldog 😉
And those cookies look amazing!
I love French bulldogs!!! Makes me wanna shop at Target 🙂
I’m excited to read about your marathon experience! A friend of mine qualified for Boston and I cried I was so happy for her!!!
Buffalo chicken pizza rocks my world! It’s my favorite!!
That’s a fun idea to watch that documentary to get you pumped up for your 20 miler!
I get emotional whenever I accomplish a running goal too. You’re not alone! 😉
What a fun movie to watch! I can totally see it pumping you up for a run. Mmmm I’m going to keep an eye out for it.
omg i love clark. now i know what i have to get my pug for xmas. A sweater like his!
I watched that documentary after I ran my first marathon, and I definitely choked up too! My friend thought I was crazy. I totally understand. Anything having to do with people fulfilling dreams and accomplishing difficult tasks makes me SO emotional!
I am sending good thoughts your way and am sure your foot is going to heal. How has it been feeling?
I think Clark looks great in his little sweater.
I’m a sap too! When I’m running and U2’s Beautiful Day comes up on my running mix and I’m working on a running goal I get all choked up. I love documentaries so I’ll have to look for that one.
I enjoyed Spirit of the Marathon. I’m a sucker for emotional documentaries and I definitely got emotional watching it!
