Spirit of the Marathon

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots β€˜N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I’m such a sap when it comes to marathon stuff. I get teary-eyed at the Boston Marathon every single year, I almost cried (tears of happiness) when I finished 18 miles last weekend, and I can barely read my favorite running quotes without getting a little choked-up thinking about my own upcoming marathon.

So, I guess I really wasn’t surprised when I fought back tears watching the Spirit of the Marathon with my TNT team this evening. I felt like such a dork, but this marathon stuff is really emotional for me. I just want it so badly!

The Spirit of the Marathon is a documentary film that chronicles the journey of six marathon runners while they train and compete in the 2005 Chicago Marathon. Our team watched it together to psyched ourselves up for next weekend’s 20-miler.

After watching the film, I definitely feel good about running 20 miles. Let’s just hope my foot heals ASAP! 😯

Before the film started, we snacked on appetizers and pizza.

I went with two pieces the Buffalo Chicken variety.

My favorite!

As a sweet treat, I brought a big batch of Salted Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. I’ve eaten at least a dozen of them all by myself today!

I also had the pleasure of meeting an adorable (and stylish) French bulldog this evening.

Our hosts, Elizabeth and Nick, brought Clark to hang out during the movie. Of course, I was obsessed with him. Don’t you think Murph and Clark would be best buds!?

Enjoy the evening, guys!

  1. I’m thinking about running my first marathon in Chicago (and by thinking I mean I totally am but you can’t sign up yet). Its my hometown and so I watched Spirit of the Marathon last week and I totally cried. It really pumped me up to run!

  2. I should watch that movie – perhaps it will motivate me to train for another half again!

I’m thinking about adding the salted oatmeal cookies to my Christmas cookie list – they look amazing!

  3. AHHHHH that dog is so cute! I <3 French bulldogs so much. Tina:Pugs as Paige:Frenchies.

Glad you're getting psyched up for your marathon with your team!

  4. I have heard so much about that movie, I would love to watch it. What a cute dog, I’m a sucker for cute little dogs even though we’ve had labs my entire life.

  5. I am the same way! After I finished my first 1/2 marathon, I cried like a baby and every long training run, I would burst into tears after each mile farther I would complete each week. You are not a sap, just a passionate runner. πŸ˜‰

  6. I get choked up about running and the marathon too…I love standing on the sidelines and giving the runners encouragement and high fives. So excited to hear about the rest of your marathon journey πŸ™‚

  7. I think Clark and Murph are destined to be pals. πŸ™‚ We had so much fun with you and Mal. Thanks for coming over, and for bringing those amazing cookies. I can’t believe we’re running 20 miles on Saturday– hope you guys have a great week!

  8. What a cute dog!

I cried big fat tears of joy as I crossed the finish line of my first half marathon.

Also, I watched a movie in an exercise nutrition class about a group of people who were completely sedentary, and they trained together to run Boston. It was incredible and so inspiring… I cried in class!

  9. Clark!! Elizabeth and I have been bloggie friends for a while now and I am trying to figure out how to clone Clark as I want him all for myself!!

  10. What makes a cute dog even cuter? Teeny tiny sweaters!!!
I know it’s kinda cheesy, but I love dogs in outfits haha
I’m thinking about buying a little Christmas sweater for our new pug πŸ™‚

  11. We missed you and your husband today @ the Honolulu Marathon this morning. Hopefully we will see you next year! It was a great run. Many more to come though πŸ™‚

  12. I’m excited to read about your marathon experience! A friend of mine qualified for Boston and I cried I was so happy for her!!!

Buffalo chicken pizza rocks my world! It’s my favorite!!

  13. I watched that documentary after I ran my first marathon, and I definitely choked up too! My friend thought I was crazy. I totally understand. Anything having to do with people fulfilling dreams and accomplishing difficult tasks makes me SO emotional!

  14. I am sending good thoughts your way and am sure your foot is going to heal. How has it been feeling?

I think Clark looks great in his little sweater.

  15. I’m a sap too! When I’m running and U2’s Beautiful Day comes up on my running mix and I’m working on a running goal I get all choked up. I love documentaries so I’ll have to look for that one.
