I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

Good morning! Happy Thursday!

I need to speed through this post because I have a photographer coming to my house for a 3-hour photo shoot for Where Woman Cook. I haven’t showered, taken Murphy out, or cleaned my house yet, so I have lots to do this morning!


For breakfast, I ate two TF’s waffles with almond butter spread on top and an nectarine on the side. I also drank an iced coffee with soy milk. I definitely need the caffeine this morning! Go-go-go!

Three Questions Thursday

I was wondering if you could address the issue of eating healthy when eating out. I, as I’m sure many people do, have a lot of trouble balancing my healthy eating habits with my social life. I really don’t want to eat food that’s not good for my body but I also really don’t want to miss out on hanging out with people. Do you have any suggestions for this?

Have you recently lost a lot of weight Tina? Is this due to running so much?

Yes and no. Since January when I ran the marathon, I’ve lost 8 or 9 pounds (I gained close to 10 during training), so I’m pretty much back to my Feel Great Weight. (I’m not trying to lose anymore.) Recently, however, I haven’t lost any weight, and I’ve actually been running less in the last few months. Check out my fun DailyMile chart below!


How do you run with a camera?

I don’t run with a camera. I run with my iPhone to listen to music, so I also use the camera app to snap photos.

  1. My favorite moment of the day is probably when I get in bed and read. I try to do this for a half hour every night, and it’s the one time of the day I feel quiet, focused, and truly relaxed!

    My favourite moment of the day is when I complete a tough workout at the gym. Even though I feel tired, I also feel strong, healthy, and full of energy to power through the day at the same time. 🙂

    The part of the day when my husband and child are sleeping, the house is quiet, they are fed, warm, the house is clean, and I have 3 seconds in peace to just breathe and be.

    My favorite part of the day – is when I kiss my boyfriend goodbye in themorning.. and he.. still sleeping.. mumbles random nonsense. it puts a smile on my face.

    My second favotite part.. is when I finish my workout.. and feel accomplished.. running on endorphines!

  7. my favorite part of the day is in the early evening when I get gorgeous sunbeams into my bedroom, the house is pretty quiet or I’m just enjoying the warm weather with some friends on my porch and dreaming up dinner ideas.

  8. My favorite time of the day would have to be when I get home from work/the gym/any errands I have, and immediately yank off my shorts (or pants) and get ready to relax in comfy undies and a tank, only to see my beau doing the same thing in his comfy clothes!

  10. My favorite moment of the day is twofold: One, when I get up and have coffee/make breakfast, and the other one is after dinner when I get into bed with tea and read or watch a movie. So good!

  13. My favourite part of the day is sitting down on the couch at night with a snack and something good on tv…everything is done for the day and I can relax.

  15. My favorite moment of the day is when I’m done with my workout and I’m cooking a healthy meal for my hubby and I. Also, sitting my butt in front of the TV and watching Housewives / Mob Wives. 🙂

  16. It’s a tie: Either the moment while I’m eating rbeakfast that I hear the coffeemaker come on (followed closely by wrapping my hands around my warm cup) or my sunset run or walk, where I get to listen to music and think and pray. Both are pretty stellar blessings!

  17. My favorite part of the day is just before the sun goes down. Whether I’m out or at home, that time of day seems to be the most enjoyable for me. I’ve finished another work day, I’m settled in at home or out with friends, and life is good!

  18. My favorite moment of the day is…my daily shower! I find a nice, hot (or cool if it’s roasting out) shower so relaxing!

  19. My favorite moment of the day is when I pick up my son from his crib and get the first hug and kiss of the day, along with an “I love you soooooo much, Mom.”

  21. My favorite moment of the day is when I first wake up (I know, shocker!), have my cup of coffee in my comfy chair tucked away in my “nook,” and get to start off my day reading the Bible. Such a peaceful way to start the day!
