I’m easy to please. Ok, well,Β if you ask my mom, she’d say otherwise, but, in general, it doesn’t take much to make me happy. Of course, there are things that I am βΛparticular’ about, but isn’t everyone? I guess what I am trying to say is the simple things in life make me the happiest.
Tonight, for instance, I cuddled on the couch with M & m with a glass of wine in my hand and Dexter on the television, and I couldn’t have been happier. There was nothing more I wanted at that moment.
WeΒ used the wine glasses from my bridal shower tonight!
AhhhhβΒ¦ I love nights like tonight.
Dinner
This evening’s dinner came straight from Real Simple’s Dinner in 15 Minutes Flat online tool, which is my newest obsession. I played with it for a good 20 minutes the other night.
To use it, you just select the main ingredient and cooking style, and then it spits out a bunch of recipes based on those criteria. I’m a big fan of the 5 Ingredients or Less option!
Tonight, I picked Pasta/Rice/GrainsΒ + Easy and ended up with Pasta with Tuna and Black Olive Vinaigrette. It was aΒ reallyΒ simple recipe andΒ sort of reminded me of pasta tuna salad, but with aΒ more salty, olive flavor. (I also added some crumbled feta to the mix.)
On the side, I had some honey-roasted root vegetables. (There’s still a ton of leftovers!)
After dinner, I enjoyed a Coconut Cream Pie Larabar andΒ a handful of dried apricots. My sweet tooth was en fuego this evening, but the apricots eventually satisfied it.
Off to relax with my boys a little more and then to bed!
Good night! π

lately i’ve been appreciating the little things too. i adore netflix on demand and trader joe’s
simple things – to relax on couch with my fav book and mug of hot tea,.
i’m loving grand design every night this week, i’m obsessed
the little moments in life that are so satisfying…. reading books, walking around trader joes, and doing exactly what you did last night.
Ohmygosh! I must try that tool out! π
PS – Coconut Cream Pie Larabars are my favorite!
Its the simple things in life that make me happy, a cup of tea by the fire with a good book or a good tv programme. x
I absolutly love Dexter and boy is John Lithgow creepy in that season. With two toddlers at home I’m going to say my simple pleasure is their bedtime so I can spend some alone time with James.
That dinner in 15 minutes tool sounds amazing! I need something like that for when I’m on campus all day and don’t have time to make a complicated dinner!
The simple thing that makes me happiest is spending time with the husband, and the bear. It doesn’t really matter what we’re doing. But making dinner is always fun.
I love that I can have the worst day at work or just a bad day in general and come home and see my boyfriend’s smiling face. π
Sitting outside, walking in the woods, camping, kayaking, anything outdoors seems to calm my entire body and mind. It’s like I can really breathe. I love the outdoors!
Dexter makes me happy too! Have you finished watching Season 4? OMG, the end is probably my most favourite season finale ever. Can’t wait to see Season 5!
That DOES sound like a perfect night! I really want to start watching Dexter π Thanks for posting about that site – checking it out now.
That tool looks awesome and SO useful!!
My doggie+dark chocolate makes me happy! π
I didn’t know about that 15-minute dinner tool. Thanks for linking up to it!
Oh my goodness! I had no idea Real Simple had a tool like that! I need to definitely check it out. π
A good book + chocolates + cuddling (while husband watches TV) sounds like heaven to me!
That is the coolest thing ever! And wine + TV pretty much always makes me happy π
That tool is awesome, thanks for sharing!
I’m a big dork and a good book or a puzzle make me really happy! Accompanied by a cup of tea or a glass of wine, of course!
My hubs and I love Dexter too! Just holding hands with my husband or cuddling is the most amazing feeling in the world. Especially because he’s a Marine and we never know when he’ll be deployed again. We cherish those moments together.
A cup of coffee in the morning, a glass of wine on a Friday night, a sunshiney walk in DC :).
That does look like the perfect way to spend an evening! Cupcakes, cheese and wine make me very happy. And when I wake up on the weekends and the clock has past 7AM and the kids are still asleep…now that makes me VERY happy! π
Dude! That is the best tool ever! I will definitely be using that.
Things that make me happy: my dog, a good book and a snuggly blanket, weekends!
I’m really enjoying the new format of your blog. It’s so easy to navigate!
Slice of Life..the name of Dexter’s boat. Nice!
I love Dexter – never thought I would. Season 4’s ending will blow your mind. I am still in shock. We watch on Netflix, too so we have to wait patiently for the newest season to come out!
Your simple things are just like mine..cozying up on the couch with my husband, glass or wine or beer in hand, and watching one of our favorite shows on DVD.
Thanks for sharing the Real Simple Recipe builder – SO COOL! Also, Love me some netflix & Dexter. Another gritty show I have watched via netflix is Breaking Bad – so dark but so good!
Simple things that make me happy? Hugging my husband, cuddling with my cat, a nice glass of wine with sharp cheese, and finding a great bargain on nice new shoes!
Have a good day!!!
So weird, but I just finally watched this seasons Dexter finale last night on Demand! Oh my goodness Dexter and wine is the best way to spend a night.
Dexter is the best!!! I never thought I would get into a show like that, but WOW!! Dexter and wine…great choice!!
Trader Joe’s, my cat snuggling next to me, a little, light snowfall (enough to leave a little coating on the trees) and reading Carrots n Cake!
It’s really good to remember the small things that make me happy but it’s easy to forget about them too when things get hectic.
I love Dexter. I’ve been addicted to it for years! Such a great show.
Check out Breaking Bad!
Dexter is the best!!
I’m going to have to try that website. 15 minute meals..with five ingredients or less sounds perfect!
That has got to be the coolest website ever! One of my favorite things is a Sat or Sun when I don’t have to leave my house. I love wearing comfy clothes and catching up on things I didn’t have time to do during the week.
P.S. You and Mal should invest in a Wii. All (at least I think all) of the Dexter series are on there instantly! Or just invest in an HDMI cable for your laptop.
Music, books, love, having a clear conscience/mind π
I love this Real Simple website…I use it all the time…one of my favorite magazines and this website is fabulous!
