Shopping and Cheesecake

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

After 3 hours of dress shopping for the Mother of the Bride, it was time to EAT! We were starving after all of our hard work finding my mom a dress (mission accomplished!), so we opted for a restaurant nearby in the mall. And since it was my sister’s birthday, we let her pick the place. She chose the Cheesecake Factory.

I’ve only been to the Cheesecake Factory once or twice at other locations, but this particular restaurant was basically the Cheesecake Factory mothership. It was HUGE! It actually reminded me of something you’d see in Las Vegas– the decor was totally over the top! And I was surprised that we had to wait 20 minutes for a table… at 8:00 pm… on a Wednesday night… in a recession!

When a basket of warm bread arrived at our table, I dug right in! I ended up eating 3 pieces, and it was divine.

For my entree, I ordered the French Country Salad: Mixed Greens, Grilled Asparagus, Fresh Beets, Goat Cheese, Candied Pecans, and Vinaigrette. (I ordered it without vinaigrette.)

The salad was pretty good. I loved the beets, asparagus, and goat cheese, but there wasn’t enough for my liking. I like hearty salads with lots of ingredients, but this one was mostly mixed greens. It wasn’t as satisfying as I had hoped. 😕 I guess I should have ordered a regular size salad instead of an appetizer salad.

For dessert, my mom, sister, and I split a piece of Adam’s Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple: Creamy Cheesecake Swirled with Caramel, Peanut Butter, Butterfingers, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Holy yum!

Good thing the three of us split the piece because it was so rich, we could barely eat more than a few bites each. I actually surprised myself!

I’m ex-haus-ted! I’m heading straight to bed. G’night!

  1. Is it weird I’ve never actually had the cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory!?
I’ve also never been there when there wasn’t a major wait…

    Adventures in Tri-ing

  2. Cheesecake Factory used to be my favorite restaurant. I’ve waited three hours for a table there before. The one near my old house gets crazy because it’s in the biggest mall on the east coast. I just got tired of it after a while. Their blueberry white chocolate cheesecake was amazing though!

  3. Hey Tina- just curious- that seemed to be such a tiny meal (even with the cheesecake)- how come you didn’t have some chicken on the salad? I would simply DIEEEEE without some protein at each meal. And there seem to be so many fit, runner/bloggers that go many meals without protein and seem to be totally fine with that. Am I an anomaly? 🙂

  4. I go to cheesecake factory just for that bread. So yummy. Lucky for me Hunni likes the white and I like the brown…we’re such a good pair!

Congrats on finding a dress. I’m sure it was a nice time out as a family but you were happy to sit back and relax with some cheesecake 🙂

  5. I love cheesecake! Isn’t the bread amazing!! We always ask them to only bring the brown because it’s so much better than the sourdough they bring out. CF nutritional stats are pretty scary though–you’re salad looks pretty innocent, but their more “loaded up” salads pack like 1,000 cals because they are huge!

I’;ve had that cheesecake! It’s so good!

  6. I’ve never been a fan of cheesecake or the Cheesecake Factory. I really don’t like chain restaurants. Glad you had a fun night shopping! Girls nights are always fun! When are you getting to SF? We leave tomorrow! YAHOO!

  7. Funny, all of their items are usually huge! Your salad looked so tiny. I’m actually amazed that there wasn’t more to it. My favorite salad has been discontinued from their menu. It was called the market salad and since they’ve canceled it, I haven’t been back. But after seeing that piece of cheesecake, I might just need to go back!

  8. i prefer salads that have loads of different tasty bites in them otherwise i probably won’t be able to get it down. my secret to eating salad 😉

mmmmm cheesecake! that spot looks familiar. holy whipped cream. i could only eat a few bites of my last piece of cheesecake before i had to stop (sadly).

  9. I love the Cheesecake Factory! I went to college in Providence and when it first opened there we would all beg our parents to visit and take us there 🙂

  10. I love the cheesecake factory. There food is so good and your salad is usually what i order but let me tell you they really skimped you on the veggies. Usually those salads are HUGE and loaded with everything. I’m sorry about your experience but the cheesecake def. looked superb

  11. The cheesecake factory is a great restaraunt but don’t let those deceiving “weight management” salads fool you. The menu is huge and has sooooo many great things. Those salads may sound good, but they are pretty lame in comparison to the other great items. You can really customize your dinner too. I love the roasted veggie pizza and order is w/o cheese or the eggplant sandwich is awesome. Just order w/o cheese and mayo.
My hubby LOVEs the buffalo chicken blasts but those are like a heartattack on a plate! 🙂

Glad you had a great night and got to end it with a sensational peice of cheesecake. That is the best part! 😉

    Take care Tina.

  12. Wow, that CF looks huge!!! I’ve only been once, and was sat next to a “cougher” (totally not the restaurant’s fault, but it just left an impression on me because it was so crowded).

  13. *sniffle* Seeing the pretty pictures and reading the raving comments makes me sad–cheesecake was my favorite childhood dessert but my lactose intolerance is too severe to have it anymore. Substitutes just aren’t the same.

  14. Hmm…I wonder if it was just that salad because I got an appetizer salad there last weekend and it was HUGE and definitely filled me up. I had three pieces of bread too, hehe. I don’t do cheesecake, but it sure is pretty 🙂

  15. I agree with Lindsey – that photo looks like the Kansas City CF. I love their white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. I went once and ordered ONLY the cheesecake and still couldn’t finish it.

  16. I love the cheesecake factory. Have you ever tried the weight management spicy chicken salad? To die for! and only 600 calories!! I never dare to order cheescake and I havent been there since I stopped obsessing about my weight…maybe i’ll go there this weekend and order a cheesecake…it would feel good to do it and not feel guilty!! 🙂

  17. I have been frequenting there a lot lately. (Once, every week.) I always get the avocado egg rolls which are amazing and since, they recently made my favourite cheesecake a regular (forever I hope!!) I get the wild blueberry white chocolate cheesecake and eat it all by myself! I have a bigger sweet tooth than you’ll ever have haha!
