Apparently, I really like this blog title because I already used once back in February 2009. I also used “Shades of Green” in March 2010. I guess I really need to work on my post titles. Clearly, they are lame.
Workout
I am so ready for this marathon. Tapering and I just don’t get along. I understand why I need to do it, but I am so antsy to get back to my usual workouts. I miss Body Pump! (Shhh”¦ I went last Friday!)
At the gym this morning, I did this 20-minute treadmill workout, but kept the speed at 6.2 instead of slowing the pace on the inclines. To remember the workout, I wrote it on a Post-It note and then stuck it to the treadmill. The key is to wait until you get to the gym to unstick it, so it stays put.
I ran about 2 miles in 20 minutes and then hopped on the elliptical for 15 minutes.
Lunch
Today’s lunch included lots of shades of brown, which are never aesthetically pleasing for a food photo, but the meal tasted delicious and that’s all that matters, right?
I whipped up a batch of parsnip fries using the same method for my sweet potato fries and added some BBQ sauce for dipping.
I also had a piece of the monster calzone from last night.
Brown and tasty!
Now, I’m off to bake some cupcakes for Family Dinner with Dave and Marie tonight. I’m pretty sure I’ll end up sampling one. You know, just to make sure they taste okay! 😉

Oooh, parsnip fries! My mum puts parsnips in her roast vegies, so I know your version must be wonderful!
Haha I do that with post-its too. Or, I double-tape some sellotape onto the back of notepad paper and make my own! lol 🙂
Oh the cupcakes sound like they are going to be yummy.
I’ve never tried parsnip fries….sounds good, especially with bbq sauce! Post titles are definitely a struggle sometimes and with the what? thousands you’ve had to come up with how can you not repeat?!!
Your meal may be brown, but at least it coordinates perfectly with your placemat!
Sometimes brown meals are the most delicious – even a green lover like me can admit that one!!
I can only imagine how hard it is to create blog title variety when one has been writing for as long as you have. 😉
I love calzones…and strombolis…and pizza. I guess I like anything with melted cheese and carby goodness. 😉
yummy! I love those cake mix boxes– dessert and optimism, sounds great in my book!
I need to try making a calzone…that thing looks so good to me!
I’ve totally done the post-it on the treadmill deal to remember my workouts! Works like a charm!
I don’t know about you, but I love reheated pizza or calzone dishes. They always seem to be better that way. 😛
tapering seems like a pain but SO worth it!! i learned the hard way! trust your taper!
thinking of ordering some naturally nora mixes…you really like them?
The frosting is AWESOME! The cake was a bit dry, but maybe adding more oil or even canned pumpkin or applesauce would make it more moist. The brownies are excellent too!
I think this would be something we call a yellow meal. Like a boxed dinner from KFC…everything is some shade of brown, yellow, or off-white.
