Good morning!
Here’s another pregnancy update! We’re moving right along, and it seems like these middle weeks are flying by faster and faster!
CRAVINGS
Apples! Specifically organic Gala apples from Whole Foods. I honestly can’t stop eating them. I pretty much eat one per day, but sometimes I’ll eat two or three! An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
No other specific cravings. I actually feel like my pre-pregnancy self with regard to eating and what I’m craving. I’m even meal planning again, which totally went by the wayside when I wasn’t feeling well. I just couldn’t stomach thinking about a whole week of meals, but now I’m loving (just about) all foods again.
AVERSIONS
Pretty much the same as before, but no new ones. Sriracha, smoky spices, barbeque flavors, cumin, and paprika are still on my no-list.
OTHER SYMPTOMS
Frequent urination: Same as before. I’m still a peeing machine, but I’m getting used to it now.
Morning sickness: I’m still sick at night, but I’m dealing with it better now. Eating seems to make me feel less nauseous (at least for a little while), so I’ve started to eat dinner a little later in the evening and then have a snack right before bed.
Restless sleep: I still wake up every night between 3:00 – 4:00 AM and toss and turn for awhile, but I’m sleeping better overall””possibly thanks to a new Snoogle!
I finally caved in and bought one, and it’s great. (Again, why did I wait so long?!) The Snoogle is frickin’ massive and takes up our entire bed, so I only use it when I’m really having trouble sleeping. Otherwise, our bed is quite cozy with Mal, Murphy, me, and the Snoogle in it. (We’ve nicknamed it “the kielbasa” because of its shape and because we’re weird.)
Weight gain: At my 22-week appointment, I had gained 26 pounds, so I’m guessing I weigh a little more than that now.
WORKOUTS
I’m still trucking along with my regular CrossFit workouts. I’m going 3-4 times a week, often with a spinning class thrown in the mix. (Weekly workout recaps: 21 weeks, 22 weeks, 23 weeks.) I’ve made a few exercise modifications at CrossFit so far, but nothing major yet, and I honestly can’t say I miss Burpees all that much!
Overall, I feel pretty good during my workouts, but I can definitely feel the extra weight on my body slowing me down. Box jumps are especially difficult and pull-ups are getting harder and harder, but I’ve managed to do my 10 reps per week so far. (My goal is to do at least 10 unassisted kipping pull-ups each week until the end of my pregnancy.)
Speaking of workouts, I just wanted to share some of the exercise tops that I’m wearing lately. I’ve had the toughest time finding workout gear that actually fits and doesn’t look totally ridiculous on me. All of these tops are extra long, and the burnout texture is really comfortable””it’s lightweight and moves well. (I used a gift card from Reebok to purchase a couple of these tops, but the rest I bought myself.)

ADDITIONAL UPDATES
Baby Haupert is a crazy lunatic. Seriously. He’s a kicking machine! I feel a few kicks throughout the day and then at night, between 7:00 – 10:00 PM, he just goes nuts. My doctor said an active baby is a healthy baby, so I’m always happy when I feel him go on a kicking/back-flipping/somersaulting spree. Maybe he’s CrossFitting in there?
I‘ve felt really good lately. Besides feeling slow (and heavy) at CrossFit, I’ve pretty much felt like my old self these past few weeks. I even sometimes forget that I’m pregnant! My energy level is back to normal and, (*knock on wood*) I haven’t had any pregnancy-related aches or pains (yet). The second trimester really is the best trimester!
We’ve made some serious progress on our house projects.
Mal and I recently made a list of house projects that we’d like to accomplish before Baby Haupert arrives. We spent last weekend organizing our basement, and we’re slowly but surely making progress in the nursery, which, apparently, includes practicing how to hold a pug baby.
These two are the biggest weirdos ever, and I know they’re going to be awesome with Baby Haupert.

Love the pics of Mal and Murphy! Love your updates as well, they bring me back to my days of being pregnant (only 7 months ago but man, it feels like a lot longer). Have a great evening!
You are so amazing how you are able to keep it up at CF while preggo! Caze amaze! That belly is so adorable”¦.can’t wait to see the pics of it’s contents!
Awww the pug baby! Life is going to be so fun with a little one in the house.
I can’t not see where you are putting your 26 pounds!! You look fabulous!
Fabulous!!!! So.. beautiful!
I agree. I cannot believe you’ve gained 26 pounds. You look great!
These posts are my favorite!! Love the updates. I’ve had gained 25 pounds at 26 weeks so I’m right there with ya 🙂 But you look great! Can’t wait to see finished projects too!
You look absolutely amazing. I can’t wait til I can make these posts where I’m recapping trimesters, but we’re just now getting married! But you look great, and you’re so inspiring for those of us who might be scared that we may not be able to workout when we get pregnant.
Congrats mama! You look wonderful! 🙂
My son wasn’t very active in the womb but is perfectly healthy 6 months later and as active as can be.
This so makes me miss being pregnant! You are looking so cute! I went through a phase around this time where I couldn’t get enough melon! Luckily it was starting to be summery and I could get my hands on some good stuff rather than out of season melon!
You are such a rockstar! 10 kipping pullups up to the last week? I wouldn’t be surprised if you totally accomplish that!
You are such an inspiration, keeping up with your crossfit workouts the way you do. Its amazing!
I’ve been wondering, how is Murphy doing with the “sleeping in his own bed” thing? Are you guys able to control the pug hair situation better?
You look beautiful, certainly glowing. I’m so happy for you and your family!
Try making apple sauce, I LOVE it. All you have to do is take your favorite apple, peel, cut into small pieces, boil down with some water, you can sweeten, add cinnamon or ginger if you like, I like it nude and voila. You can add it to greek yogurt or I just like to eat it just the way it is.
Nicole 🙂
I too felt completely great until third trimester…..8 and a half months hit me HARD had no more energy for working out. I hope you do not have the same experience! I say to everyone, I didn’teven feel pregnant until I hit 8 months
As always you look amazing. Way to rock being preggers!
Too cute!! I am so glad Baby H kicks a lot for you. When I was pregnant Trey was not a mover and I was constantly freaked out that something was wrong. He was so chill in there and he’s a very chill kid now too. The kicks were so few and far between that when he would kick it was the best feeling in the world!
Haha! I literally LOLed when you said that Baby H was crossfitting in your tummy! So cute! Glad to hear you’re feeling better. I have two close friends that are preggers right now (well, not anymore because one just had her baby girl this morning!!!!) and they are miserable! 🙁 One of them keeps working out through it all, unbelievably! You and she have inspired me to get my big butt into shape…if you two can do it while pregnant and nauseous, I have absolutely no excuses! Thanks and I can’t wait for Baby H to get here!!! 🙂
That’s so great that you’re feeling great and able to do (nearly) as much work-out wise as you did before you were pregnant.
I can’t believe the difference between week 17 and 18. Maybe it’s what you’re wearing, but that’s definitely where the belly rounded to a pregnancy shape.
Great work! You look awesome! I’m 23 weeks (On Monday) and I wake up like CLOCK WORK between 3&4am usually to use the bathroom, and then I’m awake for a while. I think it’s because I generally go to sleep at 9:30-10pm and that’s the max my bladder can take!!! I need to get one of those pillows, but I think a certain set of Mr.’s (Man and canine) are going to try to get in on that action…
Murphy loves the Snoogle!! But, seriously, it’s been amazing for sleeping better!
