I’m halfway there!Ā I can’t believe I just finished my 20th week of pregnancy. It’s crazy how quickly time is flying by!

CRAVINGS

Egg sandwiches (ALL THE TIME – seriously, it’s ridiculous), smoothies, green juice, fresh fruit (I’ve been into apples lately), yogurt with granola, ketchup on everything.

AVERSIONS

Same as before, but no new ones!

OTHER SYMPTOMS

Frequent urination: Not exaggerating, I’m probably peeing 20 times per day/night. I’m drinking a lot of water, but my bladder is so sensitive now. Everything makes me need to pee!

Morning sickness: I still feel sick at night, starting around 7:30/8:00 PM and getting worse until I go to bed. I’m starting to think I’m stuck with this symptom for my entire pregnancy, but I feel mostly fine during the day, so it definitely could be worse! Anyone else sick for their entire pregnancy?

Restless sleep: I pretty much wake up every couple of hours all night long. I usually just fall right back to asleep, but it’s still kind of annoying. A lot of the time, I need to pee, but other times I just wake up. I’m not really uncomfortable or anything like thatā€Ā¦ I just wake up a lot. Maybe my body is getting ready for frequent feedings when Baby Haupert is here?

Weight gain: 24 pounds! I’m still ahead of the normal weight gain, but things have slowed down quite a bit. Speaking of weight gain, I finally caved in and bought some maternity clothes, which was the BEST decision ever! Seriously, why did I wait so long?!

Old Navy for the win!

WORKOUTS

I am still trucking along with mostly unmodified CrossFit workouts, but I might stop doing Burpees this week since they’re starting to feel a little weird (and they totally smoke my arms now that I do them so slowly).Ā I think Squat Thrusts might be more my style now!

And the most exciting news of the past two weeks:Ā Feeling Baby Haupert kick!

baby feet

Well, it’s not full on kicking, but more of a ā€œflutteringā€Ā feeling that a lot of moms talk about. It feels like you have a little bit of gas or some butterflies in your stomach or even a brief muscle spasm inside your belly. I actually felt it a few times in week 19, but I wasn’t really sure if it was the baby moving or not. But, last week, it was happening a lot more often, so I’m pretty sure that’s what I’m feeling. He moves a little bit during the day and a whole lot at night right before bed. Mal even got to feel one of his kicks last week. Mal was equally excited/happy and weirded out at the same time. It’s sooo sci-fi!Ā Haha!

That’s all for now.Ā We have another ultrasound and doctor’s appointment at the beginning of next week, so I will have another blog update soon!

  1. Nausea does not make me excited to have kids one day- but those maternity clothes do!
I do not think you look like you’ve gained anywhere near 20+ lbs. I think the most important thing is that you’re eating right (check), still working out/being active (check) and taking care of yourself overall (check). The fact that you are in shape will help with your labor and delivery, and also your recovery. I think most people are afraid of working our during pregnancy but as long as you modify and don’t do anything crazy, it’s all good. Best of luck to you!

  2. So exciting you are half way!! With this pregnancy I felt sick in the evenings probably until 24 weeks or so and then just random nights. I hope it gets better for you soon! I also have craved fried egg sandwiches in both of my pregnancies – so tasty and good for the baby!! šŸ™‚

  3. Love hearing the updates – you’re doing great! Speaking of sci-fi, wait til you can actually see a foot or elbow gliding across your belly!

  4. Oh boy just wait until you can see the kicks lol I would just watch my belly move like waves it’s kinda cool/ kinda creepy lol I also had sickness my WHOLE 2nd pregnancy. I never actually threw up but sure enough 10am and 630pm I would get waves of dizzy/nausea/lightheaded for a good hour or so. Hang in there your halfway done and once you see you little mans face it will all be worth it Ć°ÅøĖœā€ž

  5. You look great! Before you announced you were pregnant I thought you had gotten too skinny. All the crossfit! You look so healthy and happy. Don’t go back to your skinny minny weight after baby Haupert is born!

  6. Mmm, egg sandwiches are the best!
My coworker is due in a few weeks and she had me feel her baby kick last week. Totally felt so weird! Haha it really is sci-fi-ish, but pretty cool too. šŸ™‚

  7. Oh I remember the first kick like it was yesterday. It felt like a kernel of popcorn just popped. It happened only once that day and I wondered if it was THE kick. It was. As the days went on, I felt it more often. Enjoy every moment because although it feels like time is flying, it will get to where it feels like eternity and all you want is that baby out and into the world. Then you want to experience pregnancy again. I miss it with all my heart. I think it’s been harder lately because my daughter started crawling recently. (Feeling nostalgic)

  8. You probably already know about it, but there’s a great blog, crossfitmom.com, for crossfitting expectant mothers!

  9. Oh yay!! Feeling the baby kick is the best!! I keep imagining that I’m feeling it again, but I’m only 13 weeks so I know it’s still in my head at this point. You look so great! Where in the world are those 20 pounds? šŸ™‚

  10. Half way there …..LOL gosh it’s such a long time ago since i was preggers. My baby is now 19yrs! You think 20 weeks has flown……but i envy you. I would love to go back and do it all again ( well ok maybe for a short time those night feeds are a killer) but growing a baby inside you is awesome.
