Scenes from the Weekend

Hi, guys! Happy MONDAY!

How was your weekend!?! I hope it was wonderful! Mine was quite lovely””lots of family, friends, and good food, all the makings of an awesome weekend. That said, here are some scenes from it!

Friday was a rough day for Quinn and me. He woke up 3 times during the night (he usually wakes up just once) and then he was fussy all morning long””no meltdowns, just on and off crying. Q is usually super happy in the morning, so maybe he was going through some sort of growth spurt or developmental milestone? I dunno, but that’s what I keep telling myself when I can’t figure out why he’s upset. Anyway, I did my best to calm him down and entertain him””we went outside and talked about nature (one of his favorite things to do) and played with some new toys, including a set of Harley Davidson power tools, which are super cute and he seems to enjoy. And Murphy loves them too! The poor dog is so confused between his toys and Quinn’s toys.

By the time Mal got home from work on Friday afternoon, Q was in a much better mood.

He hung out with us on the sun porch while we had some drinks (heyyyy, pumpkin beer!) and pizza for dinner.

On Saturday morning, Mal, Q, and I drove out to my in-laws house to go apple picking with them. On the drive to the orchard, we stopped by Gourmet Donuts for iced coffees, and it definitely gave Marylou’s a run for its money. It had 65 flavors of coffee! 65!!! I was in heaven, obviously. I ended up getting a decaf Oreo iced coffee, and it was incredible!

Apple picking with my in-laws was a lot of fun (post coming soon)!

Quinn enjoyed himself too!

That face! I swear, he had a nice day!

On Saturday night, we had some friends over for drinks, apps, and football.

It was also a “medium dog” party.

On Sunday, Mal and I shared baby duty. I watched Q in the morning while he did yard work and bought a (massive) snow blower. We’ve talked about buying one for years and after the winters we’ve had recently, we finally decided it was time to bite the bullet and do it. Watch it barely snow this winter! Haha!

In the afternoon, Mal went to a friend’s house to watch the Patriots game and took Quinn with him, so I could have some uninterrupted work time. I did 3 hours of work (I totally cracked out and got a ton done) and then I went for a 5-mile run””my longest since Q arrived””and it was quite a nice way to finish out the weekend.

Questions of the Day

What’d you eat for dinner on Friday night?

Which iced coffee would you pick from the flavors at Gourmet Donuts?

Snow blowers: Got one? Love it? Please tell me we spent our money wisely.

  1. On Friday night I ate…a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! I teach till 7:30pm at a dance studio, so I always pack my pb&j;)
I would order….the maple french toast! It just sounds so delish right now!
Snow Blower…sorry, I live in Hawaii. No snow here, just perhaps a sand blower?
I love the photo of Quinn’s grump face and the 3 adorable medium dogs!

  2. The Cinnamon Stick Bun sounds amazing right about now.

Friday night I had was at a rehearsal dinner and was spoiled with a seafood buffet =)

Snow blowers = great life choices. We have one and it has saved us (and our neighbors) so many times!

  3. On Friday, I had “luxurious tomato-basil pasta” from the Oh She Glows Cookbook. Delish! I also made my first vegan pumpkin pie… It’s the first weekend that truly felt like fall in NYC.

When I woke up this morning, I was excited to prepare a smoothie. Now, I’m totally craving a Pumpkin Pie Iced Coffee from Gourmet Donuts! 😉

  4. Snowblower= totally worth the $. I think it gets us an extra half hour of sleep on snowy days, which is priceless with a little one. Ugh- now I’m thinking about snow!

  5. We went to an amazing restaurant for dinner on Friday night that reminded us of our trip to Italy. It was delicious.

I would try the oreo cookie iced coffee as well. I was drooling when I saw this on your Instagram.

And seriously, lets hope we don’t need snow blowers this winter…didn’t we have enough already!?!

  6. Poor Q! It might be the 4 month skeep regression- I hope not! But 4 months is a challenging time for babies. Their sleep cyckes torally change and sleep more like adults. We had a terrible 4 month regression, and had to sleep train latet on. Hopefully you guys avoid it!

  7. After 3 kids I still couldn’t tell you what brought on the mysterious fussy periods, people would say teething, tummy problems, growth, development, etc and honestly I just think babies are unpredictably fussy sometimes without reason. Funny thing is now that they’re older their big kid personalities totally match up with their baby ones. It’s pretty amazing to look back and see that.

Looks like a great weekend with a nice mix of being productive and having fun 🙂

  8. If it doesn’t snow much in eastern MA this year because you guys bought that snow blower I will be eternally grateful!! haha

  9. Dinner on Friday was breakfast for dinner: fried eggs with sweet potato hash browns.

I have no idea on the iced coffee flavors. I would go there a LITTLE too much trying them all. Oreo sounds amazing and I’m also intrigued by the pumpkin pie a la mode.

I don’t own a snowblower because I fortunately still live in a condo that does this for us, but it seems to be a good investment if you get a ton of snow very often (hello, Boston).

  10. Friday night I had a peanut butter and jelly wrap…It’s my new thing in my 8th month of pregnancy.

We bought a snow blower last summer and it was a life saver, you will not regret it! I was convinced we wouldn’t get any snow after we bought it but last winter in Mass.was crazy!

I told my husband we need to make a trip to gourmet donuts! I’ve looked at the menu probably 5 times now and still have no clue what I would get, too many good choices!

  11. Sounds like an awesome weekend! I cannot get over that list of coffee flavors….ahhh! I live in Seacoast NH and I told my husband we need to drive down to MA to find a Gourmet Donuts 🙂 I would definitely go with the Milky Way Galaxy! Mmm. We just bought a new house and are getting a snow blower too – it BETTER snow this winter!!! You’ll definitely get your money’s worth living in New England. Happy Monday! 🙂

  12. Ok, Q’s face in that pic….priceless!!! He is such a mini Mal, haha! I’m not an iced coffee drinker, but you certainly make me want to be one with all your iced coffee posts! Friday night we had venison sausage for supper, yumm!

And on the snow blower? Um yes, it’s a necessity, I live in Mn!!

  13. A Snow blower in Mass is the best investment. We’ve had ours for 10 years and it’s still going strong. Also if it broke down, tomorrow we would replace it immediately.

  14. Friday night- mexican food! We’ll shovel our tiny driveway this year. I think if I needed a snow blower, I’d just hire a plow instead. I’m trying not to fantasize about coffee because I’m decreasing how much I’m having but all the flavors look delicious 🙂

  15. Maple French toast coffee…omg. I need it.
I had a golden french toast coffee out of my Keurig this morning after my run 🙂

I’ve heard that this winter is going to be even worst than last year. If that’s true, your snow blower is going to get plenty of use…

  16. You definitely spent your money wisely. My dad has one and loves it…he pretty much does the entire block in the time it took him to shovel just our driveway! Make sure you salt well after…I feel like it can get icy.

  17. We celebrated my brother’s birthday Friday night, so there was lots of pulled pork, pea salad, fried rice, and cake involved… so delicious!

And pumpkin A la mode coffee sounds ridiculously good – I wish I had a coffee shop near by with such cool flavors!

  18. Honestly that face could be a meme. Also I used runkeeper for the first time last night and LOVED IT so thanks for the recommendation from instagram!

  19. When my babies were fussy they were mastering a new skill, like rolling over, discovering their hands. Developing skills is hard work!!!!

  20. Did you make that pizza? It looks so good! We had grilled cheese sandwiches. Could your baby be teething already? That leads to a lot of waking up at night.

  21. Congrats on hitting 5 miles! And on a Sunday afternoon, no less. It’s near impossible for me to muster the motivation to run in the afternoon.
All of those iced coffee flavors sound delicious. I would want to try the Hawaiian macadamia nut!

  22. On Friday, I ate ravioli skillet lasagna for dinner–yum! (In fact, I think I got my first ravioli lasagna recipe from you…)

I don’t have a snowblower yet, but with the crazy amount of snow we got last year and the Farmer’s Almanac telling us we’ll have a repeat, my husband really wants to get one. They’re so expensive, though!

  23. Hang in there momma! I have an almost 7 month old and was constantly baffled when his behaviors suddenly changed! Then, I did some reading about the “Wonder Weeks” (they make a good app for easy reference) and it all became clear/predictable. You should check it out to see if it aligns with what Q is going through!

  24. Medium Dog Party – LOL!!! I would definitely try the Hershey Almond Iced Coffee – YUM. I need to find a place near me like that!
