Breakfast

Thanks to Anne, I enjoyed a very delicious breakfast this morning!

Last night, I planned to make her 5-Minute No Bake Peanut Butter Granola Bars, but, unfortunately, I didn’t have all of the ingredients that the recipe called for, so I made my own version using mostly rolled oats and cereal.

Here are the approximate measurements:

  • 1.75 cups rolled oats
  • 1.5 cup crisp puffed brown rice cereal
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup flaxseeds
  • 1/2 cup brown rice syrup
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Mmm! Fannetastic bars! Thanks for the inspiration, Anne!

Breakfast also included a smoothie made with frozen banana, almond milk, vanilla protein powder, ground flaxseed meal, honey, and cinnamon.

Before breakfast, I woke up bright and early to meet my Back on My Feet team for an early morning workout. We had a small group today, but it was nice to see everyone and get our blood flowing. I also got to hear all about the 5K that some of the members ran on Saturday.

BOMF

This past Saturday, five residents from Father Bill’s Place participated in the Feed the Need 5K to benefit the awareness of local hunger in the community.

The entry fee for the race was a donation of canned or boxed goods (roughly 25 items) for each participant, which BOMF gladly provided for the residents. One resident actually donated his own goods before he even knew BOMF was going to help. It was nice to hear that he wanted to help people in the similar situation as him.

Question of the Day

Do you volunteer? How has it changed you?

P.S. I’m hosting a giveaway on Trading Up Downtown to win a 6″ Cereamic Chef Knife!
