Run DC

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I’m here! I arrived in DC, safe and sound, and now I’m relaxing with Katie before the big race tomorrow morning. Our plan is to hit the hay by 9:00 tonight to get a good night’s sleep, so this post is going to be short and sweet. I need my race sleep!

I ended up catching an early train into the city, so I had about 1.5 hours to kill at the airport.

To pass the time, I grabbed a cinnamon-flavored iced coffee from Starbucks, snacked on a banana, and enjoyed some good reading material.

When I arrived in DC, I got a little lost on the Metro system. Usually, I’m a whiz with public transportation, but my brain wasn’t all there today.

Eventually, I made it to the expo to pick up my race number.

I haven’t been to many race expos, but this one seemed pretty small.

Even still, I was happy to see Back on My Feet there!

I also bumped into a bunch of blogger buddies!

I never really ate a ”˜real’ lunch this afternoon. I ate a few samples at the expo and later dug into my goodie bag for snacks.

After the expo, I met Katie, who had to work today. At her house, I snacked on an apple and a ton of water. I was so dehydrated after traveling today.

For dinner, we whipped bowtie pasta with marinara sauce, homemade garlic bread, and salad. It was the perfect pre-race meal.

I miss my little pug, but look who is sleeping with me tonight!

I can’t believe that I am running a half marathon tomorrow! I feel so unprepared! Wish me luck!

  1. You’ll do great tomorrow Tina! I hope you get some good rest tonight.

I’ve been to DC twice and I got lost on their trains too — kind of funny that I had an easier time taking trains around Berlin!

  2. I ate the pineapple bites from the swag bag in my car on my way home from the Metro station. I was starving and they were really tasty.
I think the race expo was kind of small. That’s okay…less temptation to buy things I probably don’t need.

I hope you have a great race tomorrow. It’s going to be a chilly one!

  3. Best of luck tomorrow! You will do great! I am so excited that you are in my hometown DC, but so bummed because I am flying out of town tomorrow morning for my BFF’s bridal shower. So sad to be missing the #bloggersinvadeDC weekend 🙂

    Have the best time!

  4. Good luck tomorrow you will have to share your experience with our residents on Wednesday. Happy to see BOMF at the expo!

  5. I got some of those Dole fruit bites at my Rock N Roll Philly half expo & post-half marathon. They’re not bad. What is your experience with BoMF? I’m looking into running part of their race weekend in Philly this July — There’s an 8.4 mile “Midnight Madness” run which I really want to do!

Good luck tomorrow! – it will be cool, but at least there won’t be any snow! I’ll take temps in the 40s over it being too warm any day. I’ve got a half next weekend, I’m glad it won’t be too warm yet.

  6. I love the stuffed pug, I understand since I have been away from mine for a week now! I can’t wait to see him (oh and my husband) tomorrow.

Good luck at your race, I am running a half on Sunday =)
