Ahhhhh! I’m running a MARATHON tomorrow morning!! 😯 Even though I probably won’t sleep very much tonight, my bed is calling my name, so I’m going to whiz right through this post.

Tonight, Mal and I attended Team In Training’s Inspiration Dinner, which was exactly what we needed to get inspired to run 26.2 miles tomorrow. I’m nervous as hell, but pumped!

Dinner included your typical pre-race fare: pasta, salad, dinner rolls, and grilled chicken.

There are only six TNT participants from Massachusetts, so Mal and I joined the National Team, which is made up of misfit runners from all over the country. The Minnesota team took us under their wing and adopted us for the weekend, so our team for tomorrow includes runners from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Idaho, Iowa, Arkansas, and Massachusetts.

I filled my plate with a mix of veggies and pasta with Parmesan sprinkled on top. (I kept things simple to avoid any stomach issues tomorrow.)

During dinner, we heard from a number of speakers, who offered last-minute advice, made us laugh, and shared stories that tugged at our heartstrings. I also learned that 450 people are running for Team In Training tomorrow and the group raised $1.6 million to fund patient services and research for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Even though I simply set out to run a marathon, I now know that I am part of something much bigger and more important. (There’s a good chance I’ll run another race with TNT. Get read for another Blog Bake Sale! πŸ˜‰ )

See ya at the finish line!

“I’ve learned that finishing a marathon isn’t just an athletic achievement. It’s a state of mind; a state of mind that says anything is possible.”

  1. I got a little teary reading this post. The pre-race dinner is always a wonderful opportunity to get excited and inspired. I hope (and am certain) that you are going to do great today! Can’t wait to read your recap!

  2. You’re currently running as I type this!!! I’m so excited and proud of you for going for your goals and making this happen. Not to mention the part you and Mal played in helping to raise money for such a great cause. I recently got a flyer in the mail for TNT in my area, I won’t be able to participate anytime soon (giving birth in March and all) but I will look into it when things are settled.

    Good luck!!!

  3. GOOD LUCK TODAY TINA! you ARE stronger than you think! I know I have made a similar comment before but I have suffered similar running injuries as you but you have inspired me to take on marathon training! I’ve signed up for my first this year πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Tina and Mal! Hope you are enjoying yourself running the marathon! I really admire what you are doing, and it has inspired me to run the 10K (which is a lot for me!) in Montreal this september. So thank you for sharing all of your experience with us, and I hope running the marathon is everything you expected it to be and more πŸ™‚

  5. I just want to congratulate you for running a marathon! I have followed you since you began training, and after following your training I became inspired to run a road race myself! I am training for a 10-miler this spring and I am so nervous/excited. Today was our first long run, which was 5 miles (I have never run that far before– I know that 5 miles is a piece of cake for you, but I’m taking baby steps!).
Who knows, maybe in a couple of years I will be running a marathon as well πŸ™‚ Thanks for letting us follow your healthy lifestyle, I’ve found tons of inspiration along the way!

  6. Ahhhh y’all are probably running your marathon right now! I am so excited for you!

I just wanted to let you know I started reading your blog a couple of months ago and I am so hooked. You are by far my favorite blogger and you have become part of my morning ritual.

Can’t wait to hear all about your first marathon experience!
