This morning’s breakfast was de-lic-ious. I actually made a version of it last night for dessert, so when I woke up this morning, it was pretty much the first thing I thought about. It’s sliced banana with a mixture of Greek yogurt, coconut cream, shredded coconut, honey, and vanilla extract on top, but, holy goodness, it’s amazing””sweet, thick, and creamy with lots of satisfying protein and fat. Love. It.

Sweet Coconut Cream Yogurt with Sliced Banana

  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp coconut cream

Question of the Day

Do you like chili? If so, what’s your favorite recipe?

Do you know what a “zerbert” is? If not, here’s an explanation.

I gave Murphy a zerbert last night and he totally spazzed out! Haha!

P.S. Just a reminder, since it’s the last day of the month: There’s free shipping on BIC Bands with code CNCFeb.

  1. Love that article you posted! I was actually researching online last night if a steady state elliptical workout was doing anything for me or if I should be switching it up.

  2. I found a great veg chili recipe for the crockpot and I love it because it comes out nice and thick.

Thanks for posting the elliptical workout. I used it almost everyday at the end of my pregnancy and it can get quite dull and boring unless you switch it up!

  3. Oddly enough, I don’t have a chili recipe I’m married to. I feel like everyone has a chili recipe they LOVE and think it is plain ole the best.
I’m intrigued by the Real Simple recipe!

  4. I love chili! So good, cheap, easy and filling! The past couple of times I’ve made pumpkin chili and it’s really good! Especially with pumpkin corn bread muffins. We recently had a “chili cook-off” at work as well so I got to try a ton of different chilis. I had fritos with it for the first time. YUM.

  5. I love chili! I was thinking about making some next week since we’re getting another cold snap. I love any kind of thick chili, thin chili (ie- Skyline or Wendys) grosses me out.

Zerberts are the best but yeah, I’m sure Murphy isn’t a fan. I did that to our dog once and she looked so appalled that if she didn’t rely on me for food I think she would’ve run away.

  6. I really love chili, and I make a delicious black bean and sweet potato chili! It’s like my favorite recipe 😀 I have also found that I tend to make my chili by throwing whatever I have into a pot and hoping for the best; so far, all of my attempts have been pretty good.

  7. Thanks for the elliptical workout! What should you do if your elliptical doesn’t allow you to adjust the incline?

  8. My mother makes the BEST chili and when I moved to Green Bay, I noticed most people serve their chili over noodles. I’d never seen that before – we always ate it with spoons, kind of like a stew. I love chili topped with cheese and sour cream.

I’ve seen a few other people who make banana coconut yogurt like that – expect some of them blend it all in a mixer and then top with the coconut. Either way, it looks delicious!

  9. Have you been watching The Cosby Show lately? When I saw your question about zerbert, I totally remembered Rudy saying in one of the episodes “I zerbert you” to her dad I think. I can only imagine Murphy’s reaction to that haha. By the way, have you ever had Skyline Chili? It’s from Cincinnati, Ohio and it’s the best chili I’ve had! It was recently mentioned in the Boston Globe: http://bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/food-dining/2013/02/19/any-way-you-order-cincinnati-chili-tops/8dUAsgTRZMikwucc9cI0vL/story.html
The link to Skyline is here: http://www.skylinechili.com/

  10. Haven’t met a chili I didn’t like, but these days I’m loving “Well Fed”‘s chocolate chili. If you haven’t tried it, DO IT. It’s delicious! I used to make my own, but I’m trying to experiment with healthier versions.

I think if I gave my dog a zerbert, she would yawn. She’s such a diva…haha!

  11. Oooh, your black bean sweet potato chili sounds awesome! If I had a favorite, that would probably be it.
Also, any chili becomes my favorite when I have cornbread on the side.

  12. Hi! I tried to use the code ” carrotsncake15″ to purchase some stuff from Albion but it kept saying invalid code! Am I doing something wrong? Or has anyone else posted this too? Thank you!!

  13. I’m definitely going to have to try your coconut cream. I just bought some Greek yogurt and have been looking for ways to jazz it up! This just might do the trick. That said, I’ve been growing addicted to breakfasts with peanut so we’ll see if I can take a break!

  14. Damn, I defrosted chili I had in the freezer and ate it yesterday. If I had only known! Is it weird that I miss your pancake and oatmeal (even the oatmeal minus the oats) breakfasts? I just can’t get into greek yogurt for breakfast. It’s too tart and cold.

  15. I LOVE chili! I didn’t know it was Nat’l Chili Day…but I actually had leftover Chili for breakfast! (I’m a third shifter – I eat pretty much any type of food at any time of the day 😉 )

Here are 2 of my favorite chili recipes:

http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/turkey_chili/ (I use ground turkey, tomato sauce instead of tomato paste + broth and half the recipe)

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/simple-turkey-chili/ (I add a canon pinto beans, double the cumin & paprika, and use smoked paprika)

  16. I can’t imagine anyone ever not liking chili. There’s so many ways to customize and tailor it to taste, it’s always a crowd-pleaser. Yay, chili!

  17. I’m pretty luke-warm about chili. I do generally like it (I even crave it on the rare occasion), but it isn’t my go-to comfort food or anything. As for my favorite kind, the more vegetables and beans, the better!

I like the look of your 30 minute elliptical workout. It certainly is easy to get into a rut on any cardio machine, so routine change-up suggestions are always welcome 🙂 I’ll admit, though, today I stuck with a hum-drum elliptical workout alternating between only 2 resistance levels…
