Ready to Cruise

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I guess I should start with Day 1 of our vacation, right? Are you ready? Here goes!

Our cruise departed from Miami on Sunday morning, so we flew down the night before and spent the night so we didn’t need to worry about any travel issues and potentially missing our cruise.

Miami was”¦ an interesting place. It was definitely something “special,” including the hotel where we spent the night. Places not to stay in Miami: Haddon Hall.

The statue in front of the hotel pretty much says it all:

LOL! Thankfully, we only stayed at Haddon Hall for one night!

Mal and I and two of our friends traveled together and arrived in Miami around lunchtime, so we spent the afternoon exploring the city.

Jersey Shore fans: do you recognize this place? I stopped in my tracks when I saw it!

It’s the gelato café where the cast worked when they lived in Miami! So cool!

Ok, I’m a big dork, but I was excited about it.

We also grabbed a late lunch at a really delicious Mexican restaurant right off Washington Avenue.

I had a spicy jalapeno margarita.

And some tasty tortillas topped with tuna, avocado, shredded fried zucchini, and sesame seeds with a rich sundried tomato aioli sauce. Holy yum!

The rest of our friends arrived in the evening, so we grabbed pizza and beer with them for dinner. On our walk back to the hotel, we stumbled upon the Miami location of DASH, the clothing boutique owned by the Kardashian family. (Ok, we may have looked it up on our phones and dragged the guys to find it with us.)

IMG_3106 (750x563)

Sadly, DASH was closed, but we (the ladies) were still pretty excited about it.

The next morning, we woke up bright and early to head to the port. It was time to cruise! We boarded the Carnival Glory for a “7 Day Exotic Western Caribbean” cruise, which visited Cozumel, Mexico, Belize City, Belize, Roatan, Honduras, and Grand Cayman.

Rumor has it that our cruise had nearly 3,000 people on it, but boarding the ship was pretty painless. There were lots of lines (i.e. baggage, security, tickets), but everything moved fairly fast. Our group of eight, however, got split up during the boarding process, so our first celebratory drink on the ship only included four of us. Hey, we needed something to do while we waited for our friends!

IMG_3112 (563x750)

Once everyone from our group was on board, we checked out our rooms and unpacked. I loved our room. I already miss it.

IMG_3114 (750x563)

Once we unpacked, it was time to hit the main deck for some sun and fun!

IMG_3116 (750x563)

Ready to cruise!

IMG_3119 (563x750)

And work on my tan.

IMG_3120 (750x563)

And drink a million beers.

Vacation is truly the best.

More to come!

  1. So fun!! We went on a cruise out of Miami last year and I’m just dying to do one again. Sadly, we didn’t have any time to explore Miami…next time we’ll have to pencil in a few extra hours. I’m totally jealous that you go to go see Dash!! 🙂

  2. I am so excited you’re back! I missed your posts and am really looking forward to these cruise posts! I love traveling!

  3. And yet another reason why I need to take a cruise. I’ve never been on one, and my boyfriend and I are planning to go next summer when we both finish grad school! Looks like a blast.

  4. This makes me want to go on vacation sooo badly.

I’d also be REALLY excited about the gelato place… i love jersey shore 🙂

  5. Was this your first cruise? I’ve been on 2, and I LOVE them!! SO much fun! (especially the “drink of the day”) 🙂 Also, I would have been equally as excited to see the Cafe in Miami. I got to visit DASH in NYC last year- it acutally looks very similar. Too bad the cheapest thing in there was a $16 bottle of water with a DASH sticker on it, haha!

  6. 29 days til my cruise out of Miami! Can’t wait! And ummm yeah, what’s with that statue? Is it puking? Please tell me your honest thoughts on that jalapeno margarita – and where I can get one when we get down there!?

    1. @Janine @ThePurpleGiraffe: The jalapeno margarita was awesome– spicy with a serious kick! Sadly, I don’t remember the name of the place, but the restaurant itself is on the left side of the photo in this post. Maybe you can make out the name? It’s right off Washington Street in Miami Beach.

  7. I love this, it’s making me so excited for my own Caribbean vacation… in November. You do look incredible, all your hard work shows in your abs! -D

  8. Ahhh that looks like SO much fun! Completely jealous here 🙂 and I would’ve totally geeked out over seeing the gelato shop that the jersey shore cast worked at too!

  9. Welcome Back! I’ve never been on a cruise, but your pics are fab already, and def make me want to go on one! Gurl, seriously, those abs!!!! Make me want to go on a cruise and then work out the whole time 🙂

  10. Ahhh Tina! That sounds amazing 🙂

Makes me want to hop on my scooter and drive down to Florida hehe :]

    Looking forward to hear more

  11. I’ve never been on a cruise before but it looks like so much fun! I can’t wait to see more pics it looks like the vacation was a blast!

  12. Yay, vacation! I’ve never been on a cruise but hope to maybe this year? I don’t know! You make a compelling argument for one. Looks fun already and this is only day one. 🙂

  13. WOW! I have heard nothing but horror stories about how small cruise ship rooms are… was yours an average room? You didn’t “upgrade” or anything? So far it’s looking like a good start!

  14. ah holy man your abs are awesome! You may have officially made me a crossfit believer. I started working with a bad ass trainer (actually, remember Kirk, from the rose giving TV show ;)? Yea, him. Literally he kicks my ass. If you have any readers in the Mpls area, they should look him up!) but I am hoping to really ramp up my eating to get the results I want. Do you have a previous post or some things you consider “yay” and “nay” for getting the most out of your abs workout in the kitchen?

  15. I love vacation recaps! Makes me want to book a cruise asap! I’ve only been on one cruise and it looks like your first day was very similar to ours. I think drinks are the #1 priority once you get on board!

  16. Your cruise looks like it’s off to a great re-cap start! The last cruise I was on I ended up having to be rushed off the ship in Puerto Rico with appendicitis and had my appendix out there. A wild honeymoon!
