I guess I should start with Day 1 of our vacation, right? Are you ready? Here goes!
Our cruise departed from Miami on Sunday morning, so we flew down the night before and spent the night so we didn’t need to worry about any travel issues and potentially missing our cruise.
Miami was”¦ an interesting place. It was definitely something “special,” including the hotel where we spent the night. Places not to stay in Miami: Haddon Hall.
The statue in front of the hotel pretty much says it all:
LOL! Thankfully, we only stayed at Haddon Hall for one night!
Mal and I and two of our friends traveled together and arrived in Miami around lunchtime, so we spent the afternoon exploring the city.
Jersey Shore fans: do you recognize this place? I stopped in my tracks when I saw it!
It’s the gelato café where the cast worked when they lived in Miami! So cool!
Ok, I’m a big dork, but I was excited about it.
We also grabbed a late lunch at a really delicious Mexican restaurant right off Washington Avenue.
I had a spicy jalapeno margarita.
And some tasty tortillas topped with tuna, avocado, shredded fried zucchini, and sesame seeds with a rich sundried tomato aioli sauce. Holy yum!
The rest of our friends arrived in the evening, so we grabbed pizza and beer with them for dinner. On our walk back to the hotel, we stumbled upon the Miami location of DASH, the clothing boutique owned by the Kardashian family. (Ok, we may have looked it up on our phones and dragged the guys to find it with us.)
Sadly, DASH was closed, but we (the ladies) were still pretty excited about it.
The next morning, we woke up bright and early to head to the port. It was time to cruise! We boarded the Carnival Glory for a “7 Day Exotic Western Caribbean” cruise, which visited Cozumel, Mexico, Belize City, Belize, Roatan, Honduras, and Grand Cayman.
Rumor has it that our cruise had nearly 3,000 people on it, but boarding the ship was pretty painless. There were lots of lines (i.e. baggage, security, tickets), but everything moved fairly fast. Our group of eight, however, got split up during the boarding process, so our first celebratory drink on the ship only included four of us. Hey, we needed something to do while we waited for our friends!
Once everyone from our group was on board, we checked out our rooms and unpacked. I loved our room. I already miss it.
Once we unpacked, it was time to hit the main deck for some sun and fun!
Ready to cruise!
And work on my tan.
And drink a million beers.
Vacation is truly the best.
More to come!
