Rain rain go away
Come again another day
Little Murphy wants to play.
Poor pug. All he wants to do is run around the backyard (like a freak) and chew sticks. Maybe tomorrow?
Workout
After breakfast, I planned to run outside, but it started raining. It wasn’t coming down too hard, so I should have just run then, but I thought I should wait it out. Well, a few hours passed and the rain never stopped (it actually started to rain harder), so I hit the treadmill for a 45-minute workout. I missed my chance, darn it!
I just make up these treadmill workouts as I go along, but I really liked this one because it pushed me to increase my overall pace with all sorts of intervals and intensities. I can always pick it up if I know a recovery interval is coming next.
During the last interval of my treadmill workout, I ended up sprinting at 8.5 to reach 5 miles. I was so close; I just had to do it!
Lunch
For lunch, I reheated a piece of leftover Spinach Artichoke Pizza, which, surprisingly, tasted just as good as last night. I worried that the crust would get soggy, but it didn’t at all.
Lunch also included a huge-ass smoothie (basically, two smoothies) made with fresh blueberries, plain yogurt, melted coconut butter, almond milk, ground flaxseed meal, and chia seeds. I’m not sure of the exact measurements of the ingredients, but it made a lot!!
This is sort of random, but I thought some of you might think it’s cool.
So, Mal showed meĀ a new iPhone app the other day, and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. It’s also available for the iPad. (Wow, I am such a dork.)
The app is called PulseĀ (News Mini), and it takes your favorite websites and transforms them into āa colorful and interactive mosaic.āĀ It’s actually very pretty. The layout makes viewing articles quick and easy, and you can share them via Twitter, Facebook, or email. And, the best part, it’s FREE!
Major nerd alert.
I hope your Hump Day is flying by!
P.S. Read this post for a good laugh!Ā The dog lovers will especially like it!

Ugh I want an iPad/iPhone so bad for awesome apps like that! I work with kids with Autism and there are some AWESOME apps out there. That one looks so pretty!
I agree with Stacy – apps like that are exactly why I WISH I had an iPhone or an iPad š damn my student budget! My phone barely has colour :p
I’m not very technologically savvy, so that looks a bit alien to me. I have rain too, but its not any real bother to me ( I am an “inside” person (whether I like it or not) š
This whole week is flying by!!!
And I would have done the same with the treadmill. If I can hit a nice round number, I’ll do what I can to make it happen.
whenever i’m THISSSS close to reaching a new mile i always sprint it out. makes me efel better haha
I like the looks of that app, and I could totally use it! It’ll be downloaded as soon as I get home tonight!
I love pulse! I have it on my iphone and am obsessed:)
I always sprint to the even mile marker on treadmills!!! I love that app for ipad!!!
Yes this week is flying by and I love it!
Yesterday on the treadmill I tried to mix it up too — and it made the time go by quickly which was great! I love sprinting at the end too — makes me feel so good!
Whenever I used the elliptical, I had to have the mileage and time end on a nice round number. Some days I would stay on that damn thing longer than planned just so I could hit the #’s!
I love your treadmill workouts! I always sprint at the end as well because I just want to get to my end time/distance faster!
I hate the rain! It makes the day so dreary. But I AM happy it’s not snow! It was snowing a little bit this morning and I was so mad!
What a great workout! I need to get my butt to the gym.
That app looks so cool! Hmm, I think I’ll download it right now š
I actually just downloaded Pulse the other day on my Android phone. I really like it but it won’t let me add more than 25 feeds and I can’t find a paid version that would let me add more. Hopefully it will come out soon.
Ah if only my lunch was as good as yours sounds!
Yuck, hopefully tomorrow will be a sunny day! The sun is finally out in Missouri, but I’m holding out for tomorrow’s predicted 78 degrees ; )
That is such sad picture of Murphy..the poor guy just wants to go outside.
Did you guys get the new iPad?
No, we have iPhones.
I really like Flip Board for my iPad. It sounds similar to Pulse, but you can add your Google Reader feeds and Twitter posts – they compile them like a magazine.
My dog likes to run around the backyard like a freak too – it’s quite hilarious.
murphy’s little ears are so cute! Hope the sunshine heads your way!
That pizza really does look amazing. I have used that kind of crust before, and I really like it.
Running off to download those apps to my iphone and ipad (<– major nerd here)
Aww poor Murphy! He looks so cute staring out the window!
Yay for rain instead of snow!
True that.
Pulse..cool app recommendation!
Hope the rain clears up for you and Murphy. My small dogs used to HATE the rain with a passion!
Good job with the treadmill workout- that takes a ton of motivation to go for that long and not be outside!
i’ve never been able to get into treadmill workouts. i always find myself getting bored…
that spinach artichoke pizza sounds delish, by the way : )
I think I need to get on the iPhone bandwagon, I’ve been putting it off for some time now. I get weird about phone purchases it takes me forever to make a decision.
I ALWAYS sprint at the end of my runs because I am soooo close.
that smoothie looks and sounds awesome!!
Ahh, poor Murph. It’s raining here in California also….and is supposed to all week long. I’m so ready for some warm sunny weather already! Have a great day:)
That treadmill workout looks tough! I kinda laughed when you mentioned “recovery intervals” because I don’t see any on there. š
Thanks for the info on that app…I will have to check it out!
Aw little Murph…this Boston weather is NOT helping him, huh? That work out looks like a toughie!
awww! I don’t know why but I just find it sooooooo adorable whenever murphy is looking out the window like that! haha. I don’t know if I mentioned this, but I started running again! jUst thought I’d make you proud š I know you have lots of comments kkkkkk
That’s great!!! š
Thanks for linking back to Clark’s… explosive story. š I am excited to check out that app. Nerds unite!
I always have to run full miles on a treadmill- I wouldn’t have stopped until I reached 5 either š
We had that rainy day yesterday. Today is beautiful, but chilly. I am hoping it warms back up soon!
If you like pulse try also the super cool and free FLIPBOARD š
that IS a pretty cool app! not that i know much about iphones, my husband has one but i barely get to touch it. good job on the workout!
Great work on the treadmill run! I am impressed!!!
Apps are so much fun. What did we used to do before them?
I love doing intervals on the treadmill. Lately, I’ve been alteranating between running (at about 6.0) and skipping (at 4.8 or so). I run for a few min and then skip a few min and the skipping is actually harder than running so I use the running as my “recovery.” It’s hard but fun and makes the workout more interesting. I think I scare the other people working out. Yikes!
The rain was pretty insane today! And the bus was late, so standing outside in it wasn’t too fun. Yeah for 60s on Friday! š
treadmill workouts can be really great, especially when you are like me and don’t have a garmin!
I’d just want to cuddle my pug in the rain, if I had one š
Have you noticed Chia seeds and Flax helping your skin? I noticed my skin is much better since drinking green smoothies with chia and flax.
Yes, I think so!
Aw, poor Murphy! My dog has been feeling the same with all our rain. Very cool on Pulse, I’ll have to check it out.
I always sprint when I’m close to reaching a mile marker too! š
wow-that app looks awesome!! š
