Rain rain go away

Come again another day

Little Murphy wants to play.

Poor pug. All he wants to do is run around the backyard (like a freak) and chew sticks. Maybe tomorrow?

Workout

After breakfast, I planned to run outside, but it started raining. It wasn’t coming down too hard, so I should have just run then, but I thought I should wait it out. Well, a few hours passed and the rain never stopped (it actually started to rain harder), so I hit the treadmill for a 45-minute workout. I missed my chance, darn it!

I just make up these treadmill workouts as I go along, but I really liked this one because it pushed me to increase my overall pace with all sorts of intervals and intensities. I can always pick it up if I know a recovery interval is coming next.

During the last interval of my treadmill workout, I ended up sprinting at 8.5 to reach 5 miles. I was so close; I just had to do it!

Lunch

For lunch, I reheated a piece of leftover Spinach Artichoke Pizza, which, surprisingly, tasted just as good as last night. I worried that the crust would get soggy, but it didn’t at all.

Lunch also included a huge-ass smoothie (basically, two smoothies) made with fresh blueberries, plain yogurt, melted coconut butter, almond milk, ground flaxseed meal, and chia seeds. I’m not sure of the exact measurements of the ingredients, but it made a lot!!

This is sort of random, but I thought some of you might think it’s cool.

So, Mal showed meĀ a new iPhone app the other day, and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. It’s also available for the iPad. (Wow, I am such a dork.)

The app is called PulseĀ (News Mini), and it takes your favorite websites and transforms them into ā€œa colorful and interactive mosaic.ā€Ā It’s actually very pretty. The layout makes viewing articles quick and easy, and you can share them via Twitter, Facebook, or email. And, the best part, it’s FREE!

  1. I agree with Stacy – apps like that are exactly why I WISH I had an iPhone or an iPad šŸ™ damn my student budget! My phone barely has colour :p

  2. I’m not very technologically savvy, so that looks a bit alien to me. I have rain too, but its not any real bother to me ( I am an “inside” person (whether I like it or not) šŸ™‚

  3. Whenever I used the elliptical, I had to have the mileage and time end on a nice round number. Some days I would stay on that damn thing longer than planned just so I could hit the #’s!

  4. I actually just downloaded Pulse the other day on my Android phone. I really like it but it won’t let me add more than 25 feeds and I can’t find a paid version that would let me add more. Hopefully it will come out soon.

  5. i’ve never been able to get into treadmill workouts. i always find myself getting bored…

that spinach artichoke pizza sounds delish, by the way : )

  6. I think I need to get on the iPhone bandwagon, I’ve been putting it off for some time now. I get weird about phone purchases it takes me forever to make a decision.

  7. awww! I don’t know why but I just find it sooooooo adorable whenever murphy is looking out the window like that! haha. I don’t know if I mentioned this, but I started running again! jUst thought I’d make you proud šŸ˜› I know you have lots of comments kkkkkk

  8. I love doing intervals on the treadmill. Lately, I’ve been alteranating between running (at about 6.0) and skipping (at 4.8 or so). I run for a few min and then skip a few min and the skipping is actually harder than running so I use the running as my “recovery.” It’s hard but fun and makes the workout more interesting. I think I scare the other people working out. Yikes!

  9. Have you noticed Chia seeds and Flax helping your skin? I noticed my skin is much better since drinking green smoothies with chia and flax.
