Hi, guys! š I have a funny, little story for you this morning.
As you know, I wake up about 1.5 hours before Mal and Murphy do. Usually, I wait until they are awake to make breakfast, but this morning, my stomach was grumbling. So, I made myself some oatmeal with peanut butter.
Little did I know, my dog has super-sonic hearing when it comes to peanut butter, specifically the Teddie variety. If you’ve had Teddie, you know that the jar comes with a tin lid that makes a very distinct sound when you open it. In fact, the sound is so distinguishable, it woke Murphy out of a dead sleep. Apparently, he jumped out of bed, went running to the bedroom door, and starting whining. He has a worse peanut butter addiction that I do! It’s almost like his doggie drug. I may need to start looking into drug rehab centers for him!
Man, he’s cute! š
Breakfast
I understand why Murphy loves peanut butter so much. It’s frickin’ delicious! And, this morning, it was easily the highlight of breakfast.
I made Oats in a Jar with raisins, cinnamon, ground flaxseed meal, and an extra scoop of peanut butter from a new jar.
It was SUCH a yummy breakfast!
Later in the morning, I made myself an iced soy latte with a squirt of agave nectar.
Creamy, cold, and refreshing.

I really know how you feel, Tina! My father passed away two months ago so working out has NOT been on my priority list. I have noticed losing strength here and there just trying to do normal things, like carrying a ton of heavy groceries, or moving my couch.
I think that’s a great reminder that exercise is of course good for out physical appearance, but its also what will enable us to be strong, active and independent faaaaar into our lives! Very TMI: but I’d like to take myself to the bathroom for as long as i can, and ya cant do it without SQUATS š
Alone time! I love having a night a week where it’s just me, home alone. My husband has a standing Thursday night guys night, so it works out perfectly. I love to get in my comfy pants, pour a glass of Sauv Blanc, make whatever I want for dinner, catch up on blogs, take a bath… heavenly!
My lab was the same way with PB! I guess it’s just a dog thing š Mmm oats in a jar…so delish!
Murphy is a smart dog:)

Sounds like Murphy and I need to find a support group…
I have started attempting to ration out my peanut butter usage so I don’t go through an entire jar by myself in a week… last night was an epic fail when I discovered the amazingness of peanut butter and white chocolate together. hmmm….
I’m the kind of gal who love to be me. I’m strange and different and that’s just me.
My friend and I were just talking about the tendency of people on reality shows to say “I am the kidn of person who…” and it’s almost always the OPPOSITE!! Like, “I’m teh kind of person who hates drama” (but then they cause all the drama) or, “I’m just a really classy person” (and then they flip a table)
i enjoy your blog, but the pictures of the half-eaten jars of peanut butter have got to stop. that is usually the first thing i see in the morning when i check my google reader, and i have to tell you, it pretty much looks like vomit. thank you for your consideration.
I’m the kind of gal who might not be the funniest or most sarcastic, but can always be depended on for support.
@Mishy: Sorry to hear that’s how you feel. I love Oats in a Jar and there will probably be lots more on my blog! š
I am the type of girl who likes having a to-do list! I make one everyday and I love to scratch off the completed tasks! Wow…actually writing that out makes me sound like a bundle of fun! haha!
LOL at Murphy! That is too cute! I can’t find Teddie PB in my area. Makes me sad!
I’m the kind of girl who likes to see pictures of oats in a jar. š And I’m the kind of girl who really, really needs to own a pug one day!
Keep on doing what you are doing! š
…who loves peanut butter too! š
My toy poodle was the same way….as soon as I opened the jar in the morning, he would bound from the bedroom into the kitchen! I couldn’t believe it! LOL
My golden retriever has learned that when I reach to a certain spot in the fridge, it means peanut butter is going to come out, I swear! And when he hears the lid opening, he sure knows what that means. It is so cute … I almost always have to give him a little bit — he is my running partner, after all! We’re training for a marathon together!

My late cat was the same way about bananas and ice cream! My current kitties really like cheese nips.
My parents pugs were eating so much peanut butter (plus many other treats) that they started getting porky. The porky pugs now get baby carrots as treats and they LOVE them!
likes…reading recipe books in bed.
Teddies is totally the best! Haha I love your doggy! Could he get any cuter!?
I like….curling up with my hunny and watching a good movie.
Hey, Tina – I’m a frequent reader but rarely comment (I’m such a lurker!), but I saw this print when I was browsing Etsy and it made me think of you. (I hope that’s not creepy. You’ll understand when you see it.)

I’m the kind of gal who likes BOOKS! I teach middle school language arts and I read all the time. I like to show my students that I love to read, set an example, and share my reading with them.

My bird LOVES oatmeal and KNOWS when I’m making it. She starts going crazy. I think she really just likes the nut butter I put on it but she eats it all.
I’m the kind of girl that loves to get up in the morning š
I just had an apple with peanut butter on it as breakfast/snack (since I didn’t wake up til 11!).
Guess that makes my next statement obvious: I’m the kind of girl that loves to sleep in. (Working until midnight helps!)
I tried the frozen PB in the Kong trick with our new puppy, but our bigger dog, Rusty, stole it. š Can’t blame him!
I just have to thank you for presenting the idea of oats and PB to me! I had never heard of that before, but now I love it and eat it several times a week! It’s a yummy breakfast indeed! š
And I’m the kind of girl who likes dessert!
My dog Joe is the same way but with cheese! All we have to do is open up the fridge drawer it’s kept in and he’s right there. So cute š
You manage to eat oats out of jar with startling regularity. You must go through a ton of peanutbutter! I guess you do have some very cute help.
I’m the kind of gal who likes to enjoy life!!!!!
And oats in a jar, i am convinced, is the best breakfast on the face of the planet. And it transcends breakfast…. it’s also a great dinner or lunch!
My dog is the same damn way. Even with my sneakiest attempts to unscrew the PB cap, she comes running and continues to drool all over the floor. Only with peanut butter.
I’m the kind of gal that believes a glass of red wine can cure (almost) anything. That picture of Murphy is too cute!
My dog is the same way! And if I eat it away from her and then come back into the room, she’s knows I’ve had it!!
I’m the kind of gal who believes staying positive can help you overcome any challenge in life.
