I had lunch with the cutest baby ever yesterday afternoon!
Matthew is getting so big! And he’s standing up!
And crawling”¦ sort of. He can go from sitting onto his stomach and then he squirms on the ground and reaches for his toys. I still can’t get over how much he can do. It’s crazy how fast they grow!
Before I visited my sister and Matthew, I did a little shopping and made some returns. I popped into Sephora to buy some hairspray because I can’t seem to get my hair to hold a curl no matter what I do. I’ve tried cheap-y hairspray, but my hair gets all hard and crunchy, which is not attractive, so I’m hoping a more quality product will do the trick.
I also stopped by Anthropologie to do a little window shopping just for fun. I’ve tried to restrain my clothing purchases because I know my size and shape are temporary, but I came so close to buying this top, which I could wear both during pregnancy and after. I love how the pop of color shows through at the bottom. I tried it on and everything, but I didn’t end up buying it, and now I’m regretting it. Maybe I should go back and get it?
I also ended up returning the Belly Band that I bought from Target after reading all of your comments on my previous post. Thank you, btw! I’m definitely all about comfort when it comes to my clothes, so I could see that thing driving me crazy, especially since it already felt like my pants were falling down with the elastic band trick. Straight onto maternity clothes!
When I finally arrived at my sister’s house, I was absolutely starving, so she offered me some cold pizza, and I was SO HAPPY that she did. Cold pizza when you’re hungry and pregnant is the best thing ever. I’ve also been drooling over pizza commercials on TV lately (I always tell Mal we should order pizza for dinner, but we never do), so my sister’s leftover pizza TOTALLY hit the spot.
Since we planned to have lunch together, I told my sister I would bring something to contribute to the meal. I whipped up an easy veggie dish with Laughing Cow cheese, and it turned out so well””creamy, cheesy, and a little spicy. Mmm! I also loved the satisfying bites of edamame throughout the dish.
For those of you who are watching your calorie intake, each serving of these veggies is just 150 calories and includes nearly 13 grams of protein. Not too shabby! Plus, you’ll get all sorts of great nutrients in your diet AND you can make this dish, start to finish, in about 6 minutes! Booyah.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups frozen broccoli florets
- 1 cup frozen chopped spinach
- 1 cup frozen shelled edamame
- 4 wedges of Light Queso Fresco & Chipotle from The Laughing Cow
- salt + pepper to taste
Directions:
- Combine broccoli, spinach, and edamame in a microwavable-safe dish with a lid and microwave for 5 minutes.
- Remove dish from microwave and immediately mix with cheese wedges until fully blended.
- Serve immediately!
Makes 3 servings, approximately 1 cup each

Questions of the Day
Is there anything better than cold pizza?
What’s your favorite store to just wander around and window shop?
Should I go back to Anthropologie and buy that shirt?

Leftover cold fried chicken ranks up there for me but I think pizza is the winner! The price on that shirt is steep but it’s super cute and you’ll get a ton of use out of it, so I say go ahead and treat yourself while you still can! Pier 1 is my favorite “wander around in” store 🙂
I love to window shop at Old Navy because they are inexpensive enough that if I do end up buying something I dont feel too guilty. I am loving that shirt, and i think the Navy would look great on you, think jeans, shorts, leggings..you need it 🙂
Yay for creamy bowls of GREEN veggies!
Go get that top, girlie 🙂
Your nephew is growing up! That’s awesome he will have a cousin close in age 🙂 Veggie recipe looks yummy. I love the added edamame for protein.
Yum. This sounds delish!!!
Definitely go buy that top..especially if it’s in the wine or navy color. It’s super cute and versatile if you can fit it over your bump but don’t think it would be too big post-baby. I may have to check it out myself! Anthro is so dangerous.
Honestly I’m not crazy about that shirt for the price. Also its hand wash!
I’ve been obsessed with pizza lately, too! Those vegetables look delicious- I never get edamame at the store but maybe I should try it some time to mix up our usual veggies!
Definitely buy the shirt! You are still thinking about it after you left the store so it is worth it!
I love the Kate Spade store. It is so whimsical and fun. Looking at everything makes me feel happy.
Wait until the shirt goes on sale online. That’s my advice ALWAYS with anthropologie. Their clothes are so expensive and as long as you know it fits and looks good on you, its worth it to just wait the extra couple of weeks. If you sign up for hukkster it will tell you when it goes on sale.
I love window shopping a Old Navy and the Loft Outlet especially since they are totally affordable. For fun I also like Francesca’s and LouLou’s. I love pizza and just about any kind, cold or hot – doesn’t matter. I could eat pizza every day!
I’m 20 weeks pregnant so maybe I will want to eat some veggies if I put Laughing Cow Cheese on them? Noting else seems to make them appealing!
That shirt is super cute but I hate hand washing things. Especially if it might be someday covered in spit up 🙂
Basically I figure, if I leave a store and can’t stop thinking about something, that means I should have bought it!
Have you found it’s hard at times for the laughing cow to melt? I absolutely LOVE the Queso flavor by the way! It’s my favorite!
I haven’t noticed that. They always melt right into dishes for me! Maybe try the back of spoon to mush them up a little while mixing?
Yumm I love cheesy veggies! These look great!
I guess I’m a weird one and don’t really love cold pizza. But I do LOVE warm pizza! 😉
As for the top, I’m not sure I would buy it if it were me, but I’m also kind of cheap. It’s cute, but isn’t worth $48 to me. However, if it’s in the budget and you can’t stop thinking about it, I’d go for it!
I think the best cold leftovers are mac n’ cheese – not the healthy kind, but the old school Kraft! I know it is gross, but I used to love how all the noodles stuck together. I used to dig those leftovers as a kid 🙂 and YES!!! go treat yourself to that adorable shirt!
My recommendation for hairspray is Loreal Elnett Satin hairspray. It works better than any high end brand I’ve tried and you can get it at Target! Its amazing.
Best product ever for curling: http://www.bumbleandbumble.com/product/73/193/Products/Styling/Sprays/does-it-all-styling-spray/index.tmpl
My straight, fine hair stays in loose curls and it doesn’t even feel like I have hairspray in it!
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll try that next if the one I bought doesn’t work!
I vote aye for the top. You wear a lot of your maternity stuff for months after babe is born…as I am finding out!
Yes on the top! And hands down the best hairspray in Kenra 25. I wasted so much money on cheaper brands and will never buy anything else now.
How do you get the cheese wedges to melt so creamy? I have a hard time with this! LOL
No. Cold pizza is the best. Also Anthro is the best! I’d go for it!!!!
A woman who I CrossFit with started this company- check out the maternity capris

Anthropologie is for sure my #1 store to window shop at! I never buy their clothes, but they sure are pretty to gaze at.
PS – there is nothing better than cold pizza, it always tastes better the next day. Just like Chinese food!
Your nephew is adorable! So cool that he’ll have a little buddy in just a few months 🙂 Cold pizza is delicious and so under rated.
I say yes to the top. You will love yourself for having loose fitting tops right after having that little guy! I’m almost 5 months out and still love having loose fitting clothing over my stomach that isn’t quite the same!
Sometimes, especially in the situation that you were in, there is nothing better than cold pizza! Sounds like it hit the spot.
Yes, I totally support you going back and getting that top. You’ll be able to wear it for months to come (maybe not in the end), in the “fourth” trimester, and perhaps even after if you’re not swimming in it. Adorable.
Yes, go back and get the top! 🙂 And cold pizza will always be my favorite meal 🙂
Get this curl activating spray. It works great and is inexpensive!! http://www.tresemme.com/product/detail/353273/thermal-creations-curl-activator-spray
Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂
I’ve been craving pizza for awhile now (and I’m not pregnant)!
omg LOVE cold pizza.
I always wander for way too long in stores like TJ Maxx and home goods! So much at such great prices.
Go get that shirt!! 🙂
Awe, Matthew is so adorable!! Does it make you curious as to what your little man will look like?
Yes. If you’re still thinking about it tomorrow, then get it. I passed on a super cute raincoat a few years ago that was on clearance, and when I did finally go back it was gone. I was so mad and sometimes I still wish I had to match my work clothes.
I love to wander around in the Williams-Sonoma store. Sometimes I’ll go there only intending to buy one thing, but inevitably I end up looking at every. single. item. It’s all so wonderfully displayed that I totally can’t help it. That plus the occasional food sample or demonstration and goodbye afternoon!
I love cooking with Laughing Cow wedges! I do have some trouble with them melting on their own, but after a stir or two they mix up without any issues.
I can’t see the top..the link redirects me to the European site homepage but you should definitely treat yourself. Nothing worse than being pregnant and feeling like you have nothing nice to wear!
a) those cheesy veggies look great and I will definitely be picking up some cheese this weekend
b) I love that top! If you can wear it post pregnancy too I’ll be a bad influence and say that great solid tops are an investment.
Target! Even if I don’t need anything but just feel the need to walk around, I just go to target or TJ Maxx. Unfortunately I always end up buying things…
Ditto! Love Target for browsing (and buying! 😄
Thanks for picking my side dish for tonight! Yum!!
urban outfitters is totally one of my favorite window shopping stores. i also like to go to pier 1 and decorate the perfect house in my head
So on the hairs…do you ever use dry shampoo? i use it to make my hair less oily if i want to go a day or so without washing it…but it also works to amp up body and to texturize. Sometimes even if my hair is freshly washed/dried, i’ll spritz some in and it helps my hair curl/hold a ton better. I use a brand called Not Your Mother’s “Clean Freak”. you can get it at CVS. Now I KNOW I’m speaking your language. 🙂
Yes to the top! Very cute. 🙂
Great recipe too. I have been using laughing cow lately stirred into the end of cooking to make dishes of veggies creamy but low cal. What a difference! My favorite this past week was caramelized minced onions, roasted garlic, and lacinato kale then I mixed in one of the light Swiss (green package) wedges, fresh grated parm, and cracked pepper. So delish!
Love the top! Go back and get it!
Athleta…I love that store.
I can never decide if I want my leftover pizza reheated or not. I love them both. I usually get two pieces, and do one hot and one cold. Smothered in hot sauce of course….:-D
Cold pizza is amazing, obviously go buy that shirt. you’ll fit into it again! And, I love Laughing Cow. Just started using it for sandwiches ..so good.
You should totally get the top! I just had my baby 2 months ago and made it through my pregnancy with two pairs of maternity bottoms (jeans and black trousers). Otherwise, I just went up a size in tops and looked for things with a looser cut. Dresses loose enough that I could belt them or that had an empire waist were my staples. Exercise and sensible eating throughout meant I gained mostly baby weight. You’ll probably do the same so I wouldn’t bother investing in too many maternity clothes you’ll only wear for a few months of your life. Glad to hear you’ve mostly kicked the morning sickness!
I could never stand cold pizza”¦.and then I got pregnant. Hah. That changed everything. I ate pizza cold or hot–I do prefer it hot though.
I’d say go get the top!! Esp if you’re still thinking about it 🙂
I love to just browse at Williams Sonoma, Barnes & Noble (usually looking for the next book to get on my Nook) and Target (although it’s hard).
That pizza looks sooooo good right now! I could eat cold pizza any time of the day 😉
OMG- pizza and pregnancy! My husband used to say that pregnancy turned me into a frat boy because all I wanted was pizza (& beer, but I waited until after my daughter was born). Before I got pregnant I was all fancy – foodie but during pregnancy and the 1st year or so all I wanted was pizza and beer. Hmm- I wonder why it took so long to lose the baby weight?
I love target! I know I am not alone. I could wonder around all day finding deals on cute stuff!
