Possibly Maybe

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots β€˜N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

This whole apartment hunt thing is exhausting! πŸ˜• But, Mal and I saw a place this afternoon that had some serious potential. It’s good to know that they’re out there!

Before visiting the apartment, Mal and I met at Dunkin’ Donuts for a little afternoon pick-me-up.

I ordered a small decaf iced coffee with milk and sugar.

And a single chocolate glazed munchkin. Totally worth 70 calories! πŸ˜‰

Apartment #2

I liked Apartment #2 right away. πŸ˜€

The apartment is a 2-bedroom on the second floor of a single-family, owner-occupied house. And, the owner has the most adorable 10-week-old golden retriever puppy. Murphy would love her! πŸ˜‰Β The location is walking-distance to shops, parks, and pubic transportation. The apartment itself has just about everything we want– parking, laundry, a big backyard, plenty of storage–Β except a dishwasher. Boo! πŸ‘Ώ

So, now Mal and I are on the fence about whether we can live without a dishwasher or not. Growing up, I never had one, so I know the woes of washing dishes by hand. I’ve also come to appreciate the convenience of having a dishwasher, so it might be tough, especially since I enjoy cooking and baking so much more now.

I think we’re going to keep this apartment in mind, but continue to look for a more ideal option.

Mal worked late tonight, so I threw together a quick dinner for myself. I made a big salad with gorgonzola, sliced turkey, and balsamic vinegar on top

For dessert, I enjoyed a new gluten-free cereal mix from MixMyGranola that they sent me to try out. My “Carrost ‘N’ Cake” mix sort of tasted like eggnog. Very yummy! πŸ˜€

I ended up turning the cereal mix into a 3-Minute Cookie. πŸ˜€

And then later eating 2 bowls of it with vanilla soy milk.

I cannot be trusted around cereal. 😳

We’re showing our apartment to another couple and then relaxing and catching up with American Idol.

Good night!!!

P.S. I love celebrity gossip, so I have to ask: what the heck is going on with Heidi Montag?!? She looks TERRIBLE!!! Blah!

  1. Ugh. I am so upset about Heidi. She was so adorable and pretty before she did all of this to herself :/ Her first few procedures…I could live with that. But now she looks like a plastic surgery project. A robot. It’s so hard to tell if she’s doing it for attention or if she has a serious problem….

Good luck with the apartment search! I know what you mean – living without a dishwasher can be difficult. At first you think “oh well, it’s just a dishwasher, no big deal,” but that would probably equate an hour a day of doing dishes by hand! I have a feeling your dream apartment is just around the corner =)

  2. My bf and I are completely dependent on a dishwasher….but my number one priorty is still a washer/dryer. I can’t imagineee apartment hunting in a city like Boston!! So many options to explore and so little time!

  3. I have to say…no dishwasher, no dice. I can’t live without one. We wash plenty of dishes by hand, but doing them ALL by hand would take too long!

  4. I’m the same way with cereal.. I’ll start just eating handfuls from the box when I want a snack haha. and I’m jealous of the Dunks.. there aren’t any close to where I go to school, so I’m having serious withdrawals.

  5. Oh, I want to try the three minute cookie! I picked up a People magazine at the airport this weekend and was totally shocked Heidi Montag. She’s too young!

  6. i know! heidi did some serious tweaks to herself! i wonder how her poor mother is dealing?? and spencer?, how can he look at her the same way? i’m also addicted to celeb gossip mags πŸ˜‰

  7. We bought a portable dishwasher for our house and love it! If the kitchen is big enough it’s definitely something to look into. We found ours on craigslist.

I can’t image how Heidi’s parents feel about her new look (totally an understatement)…

  8. I tried the cookie this morning, it was AWESOME! Also I saw you twittering about having aniexty, wondering if you have ever used rescue remedy?? It’s a natural product, and works amazing!! Email me if you want more info!

    Take care,

  9. I live in the upstairs of an old (adorable) house and don’t have a dishwasher. At first, I thought it was going to be terrible but I have to say I honestly don’t mind now. The dishes have become a really awesome “zen” time for me to clear my mind for 10-15 minutes a day and sing along to some great music. I love my apartment so much, I’m glad I didn’t let the lack of a dishwasher stop me from getting it!

    Good luck on your search!

  10. For my family of 5 at home, a dishwasher is a necessity. But for myself and a room-mate, we totally don’t need one!
P.S.: Got a 99 cent bottle of bbq sauce! Can’t wait to try it!

And Heidi Montag is a mess. Her album only sold ~700 copies this week, so at least not many people are falling for it.

  11. I have been without dishwasher for a while. I can not wait until the day I have one again… they are SO Nice!!
Heidi is nuts, I feel so badly for her!! I think she was so pretty before and she has undergone so much work and is only 23 I think. That is crazy! She actually looks quite a bit older now. She needs some serious help!

  12. I just read that Heidi article while I was at the Dr’s yesterday. She makes me sick! The amount of plastic surgery she’s had is unbelievable. I couldn’t believe some of the things she said! She used to be so cute and normal looking.
Good luck with your apartment search!

  13. I am without a dishwasher for actually the first time in my life (spoiled, I know) and let me say it truly sucks. The worst is our apt is pretty small so the dish dryer takes up valuable counter space! (keep that in mind) That being said, if all the other requirements are filled, that wouldn’t deter me. I love my location and would give up anything (dishwasher included) for it.

  14. after living without a dishwasher for years in various apartments… my partner and i finally got a portable one (we got this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12547917 ), there are bigger ones on amazon and at sears and stuff. i love it! i dont know how i lived without it. you just need the space obviously, and you attach it to the faucet whenever you want to run it. super easy, well worth it.

  15. heidi looked SO much better before all those surgeries. so sad!! IN OTHER NEWS made real simple’s chili tonight…wow. so good. so cheap. so quick. sooo many leftovers πŸ™‚ thanks!

  16. Good luck on your apartment hunting. I will agree that, after getting used to the comforts of home, even for just a short time over winter break, it’s been hard adjusting to not having certain conveniences in my apartment at school. Definitely something to keep in mind, but I have faith y’all will figure things out! πŸ™‚

Ugh, Heidi is downright SCARY now!

  17. Heidi looks like a Barbie doll, it’s ridiculous!
A couple of years ago my friend found a great deal on craigslist for an external dishwasher. She had to plug it in, and it took up a good deal of room, but it was totally worth it!

  18. No dishwasher – ugh! Hey, but it’s better than no laundry! Maybe you can talk Mal into being the “dishwasher” πŸ˜‰

Good luck, Tina! I know it’s hard to spend the time to find the right place to call home.

    Heidi = crazy πŸ˜€

  19. heidi is so dumb. her and spencer will go ANY LENGTH to just get their 15 minutes of fame.. and apparently she has a album that just came out this week..coincidence? haha. i loooooooove dunkin coffee! i just have to have cream though :-O

  20. I’d hold out for a dishwasher. I don’t have one for the first time, and while it’s not terrible, I just feel like there are always dishes to do! My boyfriend is great about doing them, but still…we look forward to getting takeout occasionally just because we allow ourselves to use paper plates!

  21. I agree with the poster above who mentioned that you can get a portable dishwasher. We almost did that in my old apartment but then we moved to a house so we have a dishwasher. Really it wasn’t THAT terrible doing them ourselves but, definitely better with a dishwasher!

  22. Apparently the face of Heidi that I knew wasn’t her original face. I wish she hadn’t succumbed to peer pressure and gotten so many surgeries.

  23. I can’t get over the whole Heidi thing – she looks old! How sad after TEN surgeries (not that I think that’s a good idea, but I’d at least want to look BETTER afterward). Yikes.

  24. 1. Poor Heidi!
    2. I can’t believe munchkins have 70 calories. I am so sad. For some reason I always thought they had like 30.. I am so naive! My favorite are the honey dipped ones. I had a few after the Philly Half Marathon! So yummy.
    3. You are making me crave iced coffee even though it is the middle of winter!
    4. Dishwasher choices. That is a tough one. I don’t even know what I would do!

  25. Hey! I just wanted to say thank you for gift of the 3 minute cookie. I had it this morning and am adding it to my normal breakfast rotation. Thanks!

  26. That’s a common problem in New Orleans- lot’s of old places don’t have dishwashers. If there’s room though, you can always buy a portable dishwasher! They’re a few hundred bucks, but SO worth it! πŸ™‚

  27. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to stop following celeb gossip (good-bye, People.com!) So far, so good.

Although I have to say–I got my Shape in the mail the other day, and Katherine McPhee looks completely awful with her blonde bob! Why do these celebs change themselves so much?

  28. I moved to a house without a dishwasher after never having had to live without one, and I will admit, the first few weeks were an adjustement. BUT, I lived there for two years, and I eventually learned to love it! Now that we live in a new house with a dishwasher, I still wash dishes by hand about 50% of the time!

  29. Cereal is addictive, for sure!

Growing up, my house always had a dishwasher but my apartments in London and Korea were dishwasher-less. It was more annoying because in Korea, I only had one set of dishes so they had to be washed for EVERY SINGLE MEAL. πŸ˜›

  30. My last apartment didn’t have a dishwasher and after having one again, going back to handwashing would be so hard!

    I agree – dishwasher and washer/dryer are a must!

    Good luck in the search.
