Peanut Butter (Wonderful) Iced Coffee

It’s Monday morning and, boy, do I have a treat for you guys!

Over the weekend, I figured out how to make peanut butter-flavored iced coffee at home. Oooh, yes, I did. Are you ready for this? Your life might never be the same again.

Using a 50/50 blend of a nutty coffee flavor (Toasted Almond) + a sweet/dessert-y coffee flavor (White Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Cupcake), brew a strong pot of coffee for iced coffee and then chill it in the refrigerator overnight. Meanwhile, make a big batch of hot cocoa and then chill that in the refrigerator overnight.

I made the hot cocoa by boiling water (for 4 packets) on the stovetop, mixing in the cocoa, and then pouring it into a pitcher to put in the refrigerator. I later transferred the hot cocoa into a shaker since it settled while sitting in the fridge.


Once you have both the coffee and cocoa cold, then the fun really happens. Add ice to a glass and then fill it about 2/3 full with iced coffee. Next, pour in a good size splash of cocoa and then add your favorite type of milk. (Recently, I’ve been loving the Almond Breeze Almondmilk Coconutmilk.)


Voilà! Peanut butter iced coffee!

  1. Quick question…on the hot chocolate – did you make that as package directions or less water for a more potent drink? I had ordered that coffee last week when you mentioned (in the comments section) the combo of flavored coffees create your favorite iced beverage. Can’t wait to receive it! At Fresh Market they have packages of flavored coffee – recently I got “wake me up before you cocoa” that was unbelievably delicious. I think they have changed the flavor now though – seasonal. The had coffee brewed in the store using different types of coffee – so that you can sample them.

    2. @Ellen Renee: Also, I don’t know if they have it at your location, but the Fresh Market where I live has a flavored coffee called Build Me Up Peanut Buttercup- I haven’t tried it personally, but I’ve heard that it’s delish! Just wanted to pass this on to everyone!

  2. I have that same coffee maker! Soo just a quick question: how many spoonfuls of coffee and cups of water do you use to make a strong pot of coffee for your iced coffee?? Just wondering! This looks absolutely delicious, I must make it soon!! 🙂

  3. Oh how funny! I called them because i wanted to order the chocolate/chocolate caramel special online but I wanted to order the Peanut Butter Wonderful. The lady told me how they make it and that they don’t sell it as just a coffee blend. I’m excited to get it! I may have just ordered the chocolate cupcake…

  4. So excited to try PB Wonderful iced coffee! Sounds awesome. Isn’t it crazy when you can get a flavor from something without an expected ingredient? The “chocolate cake” shot from my college days comes to mind (Frangelico Liqueur, vodka, and a lemon wedge-how on earth??). Also, wondering if you have ever tried the Chemex coffee maker? We use it to cold brew pitchers of iced coffee and it works really well. Sounds like you guys have your method down to a science though, so you may not be looking to switch it up…thanks again for the recipe! 🙂

  5. Wait… Is there actually any peanut butter in it? I put “white chocolate wonderful” peanut butter (from peanut butter & company,aka my favorite store bought pb) in my iced coffe this weekend. It was fab.

    The only sad thing is that we don’t have a coffee maker at our house (and none of those amazing sounding coffees). Maybe I can figure out a way to make it with tea (or find a nearby coffee joint to make one for me)!

  10. I am so excited for this recipe! I will be trying it tonight… using the cold brewing method since I’m a bit lazy, but mostly because we have no coffee machine. I was going to order some from MaryLou’s, but I couldn’t stomach the shipping cost to the west coast. Lucky for me Dunkin’ Donuts has a seasonal flavor at grocery stores now… Toasted Almond! How perfect!

    I’m obsessed with Mary Lou’s and travel outside of Boston just for the peanut butter wonderful, its heavenly. I’ve tried to recreate it and have found that a healthy splash of the Dark Chocolate Zico Coconut Water adds a mocha flavor, its a slam dunk either way because I’m loving the cocoa idea!
