This morning, Murphy and I had a date to go to the dog park together. A few days ago, I checked out the weather forecast, which said today was going to be the nicest day of the week (sunny, high of 56 degrees), so I scheduled some pug playtime into my Thursday.
Murphy was psyched about a ride in the car to the park. Doesn’t his face just say it all? (Actually, I have no idea whatĀ his bugged out face is all about. I swear, he was excited!)
It was a gorgeous day for a trip to the park, especially for late-December. I don’t think I can remember this time of year ever being so warm. Gotta take advantage of it while we can!
Our trip to the dog park ended up beingĀ quite successful. Murphy met some doggie friends, ran around like a freak, found some mud to play in, made a mess of my car with his dirty paws, and then passed out in the backseat on the drive home. Clearly, he had blast at the park.
Lunch
For lunch, I made the exact same meal as I ate last night for dinner: spaghetti squash with sautĆĀ©ed mushrooms, meatless meatball, marinara sauce, and shredded Romano cheese sprinkled on top.
After lunch, I baked a half dozen chocolate chip cookies. I ate three of them and save the rest for Mal.
Now, I’m in need of an afternoon snack. CrossFit is on the agenda for tonight, and I know it’s going to kick my butt. Check out the workout:
For time:
1000 Meter Row
50 #45 Thrusters
30 Pull-ups
I’m almost positive the Thrusters might kill me. Obviously, I’m looking for to it. Bring it on, Thrusters!

I love spaghetti squash because I try not to eat too much pasta
Looks like fun at the dog park. It’s really nice in Chicago for December too – no snow yet! Your cookies look great. It’s so hard to have cookies in the house because I want to eat all of them!
It’s unusually warm here too, and I took advantage with a little walk outside earlier. Good luck at Cross Fit!
That park is so much nicer than the dog parks I’ve been to. My dog would have a blast. As I type, I’m eating far too many cookies that the office ordered for us. I’m going to give myself diabetes for Christmas…
@Lena @ Fit on the Rocks: you cant give yourself diabetes fyi
How cutee! Have fun at CrossFit š
I sort of love thrusters!
I’m excited about tonight’s WOD, too…we’re doing “The 12 Days of Christmas,” which is 12 different exercises!
Fun!! Enjoy!
Have fun with “Jackie”…she is one of my favorite workouts! You will kill it!
My dog used to get my car a mess too- but they have pet blankets that fit nicely over the seat and now I use that. It’s great Murphy is so well behaved in the car. My dog usually thinks the world is ending when he sees the car. “Nooo not the vet” and he puts his back legs out like little stoppers. lol
I just love the looks Murphy gives. His eyes are precious.
I was going to ask ‘is that a Boston hat’ but then I decided to re-read your “About me” section. You’re from Boston, of course that’s a Red Sox hat! (I’m a fan, but don’t tell anyone- I’m from Ohio)
Go Sox!!
Have fun at CF! I totally love spaghetti squash—mmm š
š This weather is freaky warm!!
How warm is it there?
@Tina: A bit cooler than you, but I am so used to having to be bundled up this time of year! I think I wore a jacket once so far!
I haven’t even broke out my winter coat yet! Crazy!
Wow, that does look like a killer workout! Are you paying for the Crossfit or are they letting you try it out?
Paying for it! Only my first session was free.
What a blue sky it is! Makes me feel like winter isn’t that bad if you can get crystal blue skies like that…ok, til it snows š
But glad you enjoyed a nice day!
That picture of him in the back of the car is toooooo cute!!!
Your lunch looks really, really good! I’ve been obsessed with spaghetti squash lately!
Boston seems so beautiful! I would love to go there someday š
That picture needs to be trending. #pugpictures
It’s been surprisingly “warm” (I use that term loosely) here in Ohio, too! I love it! I am completely fine with a snow-less Christmas!
I did a 2500m row last weekend and it was tough! I suck at rowing unfortunately. Tonight my WOD is:
21, 15, 9
Thrusters & pull ups
It’s going to hurt! Hope your workout goes well!
I’m so glad to see a fellow crosfitter! I also did 12 day os Xfit last night… almost wanted to throw up. š Thrusters get me every time. Thrusters and wall balls are the worst. Have fun being killed at CF!! š
What a fun day. Park time, crossfit and cookies! Cant wait to hear about your workout!
Girl…I miss a few months of your blog and now you’re all into Crossfit. Awesome! Isn’t it an amazing workout?
Have you done hero WOD Murph yet? š
Happy Holidays~
Barbara
We haven’t done Murph yet, but I’m looking forward to it! For its name, of course! š
Happy holidays!
Sounds like a fun workout – kill it, girl!
This warm weather is crazy, eh? I love small batch cookies – they’re great when there’s only 2 in the house. I could use that portion control right now – Christmas cookies are STALKING ME!!!!!!!!
I need a Murphy in my life — what a cutie š
Murphy is so cute … I can never take good pics of Dante! š He too had a trip to the dog park … we were in Hilton Head for the week … and now my poor puppy can’t move … I guess too much swimming, running, and playing … he actually is just kind of lazy … and to think before he arrived I was dreaming of him and I just running into the sunset š … I don’t think so … as I always say … he is lucky we adore him!
Happy Holidays!
Wow gorgeous day! I can’t believe that’s Boston…3 days before Christmas!!
I had spaghetti squash “pasta” yesterday too! I can’t get enough of it lately.
I love hearing about your dog park adventures!
I visited Boston earlier this week hoping to see snow for the first time (native Floridian here) and was sadly disappointed! guess the unusually warm weather explains it. I LOVED BOSTON though!! I want to live there for a few years after grad school’s over š
