Murphy was psyched about going to the dog park yesterday afternoon. As soon as I mentioned it to him, his eyes bugged out (more than usual) and he started to anxiously follow me around the house. He couldn’t wait!
Pug at the park!
It was a warm day, so we took Murphy down to the water to cool off.
He got right in this time!
What a nut. I love how he likes to sit in the water! He must have a hot butt!
After the park, we headed home. Mal did a quick speed workout, Murphy relaxed, and I ate a ham and Swiss sandwich.
When Mal returned from his run, he suggested dinner and beers at Hingham Beer Works. Obviously, I was game.
When I worked on Canal Street in Boston, I used to go to the Beer Works there all of the time. I actually partly blame it for the 20 pounds I gained post-college! They’re nachos are insanely delicious! Anyway, I remembered that they offered a beer sampler– even though I didn’t see it on the menu. I love samplers! They’re a lot of fun.
For my beer sampler, I picked:
- WATERMELON ALE: Summer ale that’s watermelon flavored and served with a slice.
- HINGHAM PALE ALE: Medium copper-colored ale, hopped with Cascades for
an assertive hop flavor and aroma. - BUNKER HILL BLUEBEERY ALE: A golden ale made & garnished with fresh Maine blueberries.
- BACK RIVER RED: Deep ruby ale that’s a balanced blend of malt and hops.
The Bunker Hill Blueberry Ale was my favorite of the bunch. It’s light and flavorful with fresh blueberries in it. The Watermelon Ale, however, was absolutely terrible. It tasted like Bud Light with a slice of watermelon in it. Ick. Avoid that one.
Since I already ate at home, I didn’t order an entrée, but I helped Mal eat his cheese fries.
Mal and I were having such a good time at Beer Works, we decided to order another round of drinks. I was in the mood for something sweet, so I ordered a Chocolate Martini.
Mmm”¦ so delicious!
A Chocolate Martini was the perfect way to end the day!
P.S. Check out this Paula Dean pug!
