Hooray for Friday!!! š
Unfortunately, my dog didn’t share the same enthusiasm for the end of the work week. Usually, Murphy bounds out of bed, ready to eat, but he just wasn’t in the mood today. He was actually a little bit cranky.Ā Like usual,Ā Lazy Pants McGee ate his breakfast in 60 seconds flat, but then put on his tired face for the rest of the morning. (He’s snoozing on my lap right now.) I’m telling ya, it’s a tough life for this dog!
I made yummyĀ pumpkin pancakes for breakfast this morning. I used A Really Good Pancake Recipe and added a big scoop of canned pumpkin to the mix.
Mal and I enjoyed breakfast at the kitchen table while listening to yesterday’s Toucher & Richer podcast. Cracking up together was a fun way to start the day! š
Pancakes, get in my belly!!!
As you can see, they didn’t taste terrible! š
Workout
After breakfast, I headed to the gym for a 75-minuteĀ Ashtanga yoga class.Ā This type of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures, which produces “intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs.” This results in improved circulation, a strong body, and a calm mind.
Ashtanga yoga literally means “eight-limbed yoga,” which refers to the eight limbs of yoga laid out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.Ā Each limb relates to an aspect of achieving a healthy and fulfilling life, and each builds upon the one before it. You can read a description of the eight limbs here. It’s quite interesting.
I’ve only attended this Ashtanga yoga class twice now, but I already like it. I’m a huge fan of yoga done in a hot room, so I’m totally on board with that aspect of it. Today’s class focused a lot on balance and strength and less on stretching and flexibility, but the class I did last week was just the opposite. Overall, I think it’s a good form of yoga for me.
Snack
Breakfast was de-lic-ious, but I wasn’t surprised that it didn’t hold me over until lunch. Mid-morning, I topped a leftover pumpkin pancake with Barney Butter.
And poured myself a second iced coffee with vanilla soy milk. It’s Friday after all! š

I am wearing a purple sweater and a light blue skirt — dark purple looks good on me (I think so!) because it brings out the green in my eyes and my hair just somehow looks better too! I really want to be at home in my warm bed instead of at work, so I figured I might as well feel comfortable and good!
Seriously, it’s hilarious reading your posts about Murphy because I have an 8 month old pug and she is the same way. She gives me the evil eye when I roll out of bed at 5am, and she goes back to sleep until it’s time for breakfast, which is gone in literally seconds. When I actually am off for the day, she gets mad that I interrupt her morning sleep-time that she has when I leave for work.
So glad its Friday! This week needs to be over pronto!
Since it’s still summer here in FL, I’m a white tee and bright fuschia (w/ cream, mocha, yellow floral print) skirt. Extreme Florida wear š But I did buy three black pieces today, plus grey cords and black boots.
Glad you are finding a style of yoga that you enjoy. I am not sure about Ashtanga in the gym (no offense of course, gym yoga is just really different than studio yoga) but most Ashtanga studios are very devout in their practice and swear by it. I have never practiced it myself because the closest studio is about 50 mins away but know some people who really love it.
Today, I am wearing my brown flowing pants with my favorite green top.
I’ve never even thought to incorporate pumpkin into pancakes. What a neat idea!
Cafeteria Boston looks like a super cool place. I wish I could attend. š
That breakfast looks delicious! I love that i’m reading your blog in-flight! š
I’m wearing my dark skinny Citizens, an off white lace top I bought at the Piperlime pop-up store, and the olive military blazer Meghann and I both bought together! š
Have a wonderful rest of your day!
at first i thought it was gonna be orange-flavored pancakes, but i love that you made pumpkin pancakes instead! haha it looks like the seahorse on the plate is enthused about the maple syrup about to ooze all over it <3
I’ve been on a pumpkin pancake kick lately!
I’m in black and khaki!!!!
Today I have a green & black summery dress on – gotta rock it before fall comes…well, fall weather comes! It’s off to a BBQ @ hubby’s work, so once I take my cardigan off (office is chilly!), I’ll be all set for some BBQ & sunshine!
I’m heading out to the Big E so I’ve got my country getup on. Plaid shirt, suspenders, and cowgirl boots š But as far as favorite colors to wear: variations of pink and blue
Haha, you do syrup like my kids do! I chuckled when I saw your plate swimming in syrup! I am wearing brown…I guess it is my way of wishing fall weather would get here faster since I don’t normally wear it. Have a great afternoon!
Where are you practicing Ashtanga??! I love this kind of yoga and do it a few times a week in the back bay. It’s awesome, especially before a stressful day.
I’m going to try and make your fundraiser too! Sounds like fun, and it is such a good cause.
Have a great weekend!
@Alicia: In East Milton Square.
I’m wearing black. I almost always wear black, but I also love wearing red. And I’m almost always wearing jeans. I’m so boring!
Have a blast at the fundraiser and good luck!
I just got Maria’s package of lemon drop cookies in the mail from your blog bake sale – holy yum! I’ve been eyeing those peanut butter, banana and honey cookies too, and if the lemon drop cookies say anything, I’ll bet they’re delicious!
I haven’t had pancakes in so long! I’ll have to make some in the upcoming week! š Today I am wearing my school uniform – grey skirt and navy blue shirt. (Boring…LOL!)
I’m wearing a black button up with jeans.
Those pancakes look delicious.

I’m wearing blue- probably my favorite color to wear:)
I did something new and inspired by J’s Everyday Fashion today…All white with a black blazer! I’ve got my white flats, white jeans, white t and a black military jacket. Kinda plain but I like it!
I don’t know what changed, but it really does feel like your old blog! Love reading about your new recipe creations,non-stop adventures, and silly-face pug š
Delicious pancakes! I think I’ll make a batch of pumpkin pancakes for a snack later š
My favorite color to wear is turquoise. It’s my favorite color period!
I usually just wear black. It’s so much easier to stick with a what works when you’re bleary-eyed in the morning. On weekends, I go wild and wear colors.
looks like some great prizes, good luck!!
I am going to try those pancakes
I am wearing ‘latte’ and white today. I love to wear BRIGHT, Spring colors… and am not a fan of red on me.
Thanks for the yummy reminder! Pumpkin pancakes are on the menu for tomorrow morning with honey butter!
I’m always drawn to wearing anything green but lately I’ve embraced purples and fuscias.
I love wearing both pink and black.. I hate olive green though.. Yuck!
Hell yeah its friday!
Those pancakes look absolutely amazing, if i could say so myself. Yum
Fun question! I’m wearing a red and white patterned top with dark wash jeans. I was at work until almost midnight last night and had to be up again at 6:30 so I needed bright colors to wake me up!
Uh-oh.. this post has me craving brinner!! Those look great!
I’m wearing a light tan tank top and jean capris today, but my faaaavorite color to wear probably has to be rich blue’s and green’s. I LOVE wearing bright colors! Some days I think my closet looks a little bit like a rainbow threw up on it..
Hi Tina,
Sometimes your posts appear in my Google Reader before they’re published on your site. I just wanted to let you know in case you weren’t aware of it. It’s mostly just the pictures from the post. Once I click on it, it is no longer ‘new’ so sometimes I forget to check back and read the final post.
Happy Friday! Have a great weekend š
Love Ashtanga!
I am so excited for your fundraiser! I will definitely be there and bringing a friend, proud members of the Boston chapter CNC fan club. Also, I haven’t been to Cafeteria before so it will be fun to finally check that out! Can’t wait!
Hello! I have been a long-time reader of your blog, and as a fellow Bostonian, shall be at your fundraiser at the end of the month! Hope to finally meet in person then.
I want some pumpkin pancakes – I wish there wasn’t a shortage!! I think I’m going to try subbing pureed butternut squash, though…it tastes really similar, in my opinion! š
I wore a coral color tank top and jean shorts. I really like to wear yellow, army green, coral/reddish pink and purple. I hate wearing weird blue colors, like turquoise, that don’t look good w/ jeans!
Mmmm I’m so made about pumpkin right now! These look great
Im wearing pink today but normally I enjoy wearing brown…not sure why
I am wearing jeans with a hot pink shirt and a grey cardigan. I am normally a blue/green/black sort of person, but for some reason, today I was feeling the hot pink š
Murphy is so cute. I love the simple idea of adding pumpkin puree to a pancake mix. I’m going to try that.
I’ll be there on Thursday! Look forward to meeting you and helping raise money for TNT. š
Oh gosh, I’m in old icky clothes because I’m moving back to my place after house-sitting and can’t be bothered getting dressed up š
Pumpkin pancakes sound like a great way to start the day for sure!
I love love wearing the color white or purple! I love that top you wore last night! My least favorite would have to be orange, I don’t think I have anything orange.
blue and grey. It sounds depressing, but it’s not! I actually wear a lot of blues, blacks, and random pops of color elsewhere.
Nice! I’ll randomly be in Boston tomorrow through the weekend so maybe I can convince my friends to do this tomorrow night. I’m a TNT alum and would love to support them (and you!)!
