Murphy is rockin’ the one-legged sit lately.

Look at this dog! He’s so weird.

Ok, the pug is annoyed.

I guess I snapped too many pictures of the One-Legged Wonder.

Breakfast

This morning’s breakfast was a toasted blueberry Bagel Thin with sunflower butter spread on top. I haven’t seen the blueberry flavor in stores yet, so I was psyched that the Thomas folks sent me some to sample. They’re delicious and a nice change from the whole wheat flavor. Plus, I typically enjoyĀ sweet foods for breakfast.

With breakfast, I also drank a smoothie made with iced coffee, frozen banana, vanilla protein powder, and soy milk.

Workout

After breakfast, I got dressed to exercise. I had planned to do a speed workout, but I just wasn’t feeling it, so I headed to the gym instead. There, I did a combo elliptical + treadmill workout:

  • 10 minutes: elliptical
  • 10 minutes: power walk on treadmill
  • 5 minutes: easy run on treadmill
  • 10 minutes: running intervals on treadmill (1 min. sprint; 1 min. jog)
  • 10 minutes: elliptical

Total: 45 minutes

I haven’t done a workout with two different cardio machines in a long time, but it’s a great way to mix things up. It’s also aĀ lot easier to do in the summertime when the gym isn’t as crowded.

Snack

After the gym, I was hungry for lunch, but it was only 11:00, so I made myself another iced coffee mixed with protein powder and soy milk. I <3 iced coffee.

Lunch

A little while later, it was time for lunch. The One-Legged Wonder kept me company in the kitchen while I chopped veggies.

He was rewarded for his efforts.

I made myself a big salad with tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, zucchini, celery, crumbled feta (from my friend Bridget), and Goddess Dressing drizzled on top. It was a great salad.

Now, Mal, Murphy, and I are off to the dog park. The pug has a lot of pent-up energy and needs to run it off. I think Mal does too. The two of them have been running around the house yelling (Mal) and barking (Murphy & Mal) all morning long! It’s never a dull day in our house.

  1. Those pictures are adorable!
I did a similar work out at the gym yesterday, I haven’t had any desire to try running outside this week, it’s way too hot! I love mixing it up and switching off between the treadmill and elliptical.

  2. I have a boston terrier and that is the only way he sits! He’s been doing it since he was a puppy. So funny

  3. My black Pug, Missy, sits like that all the time and she begs terribly for carrots. Enjoy the “DP” (code name for dog park in our house).

  4. Hi Tina,

Just a quick question. When you make your iced coffee, protein powder and soymilk drinks, do u blend it all together or just mix it in together?
    Thanks!

  5. I’ve never tried Thomas Bagel Thins because I’m pretty sure we can’t get them in Canada, but I’m DYING to go grocery shopping in the US.. I swear, the cashiers would probably think I’d never been grocery shopping in my life LOL! And I hear ya on those mixed-up cardio workouts – they’re definitely easier to do in a quiet gym. I have a bunch on the workouts page of my blog and they do help to beat cardio ADD! Have fun at the dog park!

  6. I am so jazzed to see your workout today! I brought all my stuff to work so I could go to the gym right after, but I’m all over the place today and knew I’d get bored with a straight run or elliptical workout. This is exactly what I needed!
Wahoo! Now I just want to race through the end of the day…

  7. That last picture of Murphy is priceless! lol. Your salads always look so tasty. I definitely have to start incorporating more of them into my diet.

  8. Just an FYI, my vet said it’s bad on dogs hips to sit like that…..maybe it’s only an issue with larger dogs, but just an FYI! I always thought it was cute when Lola sat like that, but now I have to correct her, which she REALLY loves šŸ˜‰

  9. Murphy is sooooo stinking cute. Our yellow lab sat like that for about a week and then we noticed a limp in her back leg, took her to the vet and she ended up needing surgery. I am not saying Murphy is like our dog but something to just be aware of if it continues and you notice a limp. Love your blog…you inspire me everyday! Thank you so much for having a positive impact on my life. šŸ™‚

  10. I love the Murphy pics! My fam used to have a pug, Isabelle. We used to call her our little garbage disposal because she would sit under the table while we ate just waiting to scarf up anything that happened to drop!

  11. Oscar sits like that too. He sits on the bed and lets the leg dangle over the side. Adam and I call it “sexy paw”. We are weird…

  12. I love that you call it one-legged sit. We call it “fake leg sit” in our house because it looks like that leg is useless. šŸ™‚ Too funny!
