One of My Least Favorite Things

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hey, guys!

So, yesterday involved one of my least favorite things: Not eating. I’m off to a colonoscopy later this afternoon, so, in preparation, I wasn’t allowed to eat anything after noon yesterday. Ugh, I’m terrible at not eating, and it will take every ounce of my being to survive 29 hours without food. Ok, I’ll stop being so dramatic. I’m sure I’ll survive just fine. I’m just a baby when it to comes to being hungry. Anyway, here’s a recap from yesterday!

I was allowed to eat in the morning, so I had my usual oats mixed with ground pumpkin seeds, collagen, SFH churro protein powder, and a big scoop of sunflower butter.

I decided not to go to CrossFit – mostly because I was sore from the previous two days’ workouts, but also because I wasn’t able to properly fuel my day. I stayed home and worked while Mal and Quinn went to the gym.

Mid-morning, I snacked on a coconut peanut butter Perfect Bar. I figured a figured a high-fat and high-protein snack would keep me satisfied for awhile.

When lunchtime rolled around, I made a rice bowl with chicken, sweet potatoes, and barbecue sauce. I wanted something both filling, delicious, and GI-friendly as my “last meal.”

After lunch, Quinn went down for his nap. I got back to work while Mal did some projects around the house. When it was time to see the eclipse, we went outside with our homemade pinhole glasses (cereal box) to see it.

We eventually figured it out and saw the eclipse  – very cool!

Around this time, I started to get pretty hungry, but I feel like it was more out of habit than anything, so I grabbed a La Croix sparkling water.

When Quinn woke up from his nap, we took a family walk around the neighborhood.

Our big kid peddled his bike all by himself!

When we returned home, it was just about dinnertime. I was legit hungry then, so I broke out some green Jell-O. Yum.

Yeah, I know… eating Jell-O for dinner was not my favorite thing, but I did feel better after I ate the entire bowl.

The rest of the night involved catching up with Big Brother and the really “fun” part about colonoscopy prep, but I’ll spare you the details.

I went to bed early – just so I didn’t have to think about food. I’m allowed to have black coffee this morning before my procedure, so I’m planning a trip to Starbucks to hopefully distract my stomach and brain.

Only a few more hours to go. Wish me luck!

Question of the Day

What’s one of your least favorite things in life that you have to do?

  1. Good luck! Hope all goes well. I hate not being able to eat for medical procedures. But I’d say a clean out is the worst. I haven’t done one but my kids have. They have them do a 2 day prep with one full day of clears. Let’s just say there are lots of bribing with toys that day. Hope you get good results. Take care!

  2. You have got this! It’s not too much longer, and by the time you run some errands, get ready to go and get to the testing center, the time will pass and you will be waking up. Just keep breathing and think about how great Quinn did on his bike!

  3. Ha! My colonoscopy is this morning too! Good luck! Big question: what will we eat when we are done? Gotta run….

  4. Oh my god, I’d be right there with you. I turn into the craziest, bitchy person you ever did meet when I don’t eat…. Hang in there and good vibes for your procedure today!

  5. Ugh. I feel ya. I hate not eating … I am a big baby, too. Good luck. I hope all goes well. You’re a trooper! 🙂

  6. Going to the dentist. I hate it. HATE. And I really don’t like using that word. I actually just left the dentist’s office this morning, so I feel your pain. I always feel so guilty walking in there with a scowl on my face, but 25 years of dental visits and I’m still not a fan.

  7. I have only had one of those tests so far and I didn’t like that either…but it was nothing compared to my poor mom. In early May she had a medical scare…artery in her intestines had clogged then died…causing massive intestine death and surrounding organs were highly infected. Surgeon was able to save her …. did not give us a lot of hope…but of course has had many issues with her remaining digestive system. One particular rough patch in June ….went a month with nothing by mouth. No food or water…for a month. Occasional ice chips. That first time someone brought her water was so cute…she was THANKFUL like you wouldn’t believe.

  8. Just a hint – I get colonoscopies all the time but I always do low-residue for at least three days prior (mostly just chicken, eggs, soup and yogurt – along with a dose of miralax each night ) – it makes the prep a lot easier since no fiber plus you’re not as hungry because of all the protein. I’m surprised you were eating oats – I swear if I ever ate any kind of oat or seed before my procedure, my doctor would totally yell at me, he’s very strict 🙂
Also, magnesium citrate is so much easier to guzzle down than that giant bottle of gross stuff. I’d look into it. I could never, ever drink that. With mc, you drink 1 1/2 bottles then have two whole hours to drink a bottle of water – easy peasy!

  9. Preparing my food and watching my clothes is the least fav thing I like to do. Don’t call me lazy. I like to eat, and good food only. And I also like to look good and fresh, so clean cloths only. So, how do I manage to eat well and look good? Thats having to do the things that I hate, but I still gotta do it, right? Lol
