I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

FASTER METABOLISM

This is the stuff that I packed to take with me today:

  • Gym clothes and sneakers
  • Shower stuff, including a change of clothes
  • Wallet, camera, iPod, phone, and planner (these items are with me at all times)
  • Lunch + snacks in lunchbag
  • Iced coffee in travel mug

So, why the heck do I need all of this crap stuff? Well, after work, I am planning to hit the gym for a workout, shower-up, and then attend an event about eating local in New England. I will be on-the-go from 7:30 AM until about 9:00 PM.

I have no idea how I used to do this every single day as a student… or even last fall when I worked full-time and part-time (at Healthworks) and blogged, which was totally insane! Going from one thing to the next to the next is exhausting. I don’t miss it at all!

Today’s lunch was leftover penne with Arugula-Pecan Pesto sauce, carrot sticks, a blood orange, and an dark chocolate Adora disk. I mostly covered all of the nutritional bases with the exception of little protein, but I make up for it with my afternoon snacks.

Snack #1 is yogurt and fresh strawberries, which is a pre-workout snack.

Snack #2 is a Pure Bar, which is a post-workout snack to hold me over until I get home for dinner.

I’m off to buy some hot coffee (maybe tea?) from the Cafe Gato Rojo and then I am back to work!

  1. The pasta looks great, I LOVE pesto! I remember the first time I ordered it, I didn’t even know what it was and when my green pasta came to the table I was so embarassed! This was in 12th grade, but still! Haha!

  3. I hope you survive your long day. Being prepared is the only way to make it and you are on top of things! Love your lunch! I made a big pot of veggie soup over the weekend so I could bring it for lunch this week. I can’t wait to eat it:) Have fun day!

  4. I’m on the go from 5 A.M. until I get home at 6:00 pm., but I can’t imagine until 9:00, even though I still have homework and stuff to do every night I get home, I need that time to unwind and not have any obligations to be somewhere else.
