Ohmigod, Shorts that Fit

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I’m back at it! I spoke to my running coach yesterday and he set me up with another week’s worth of workouts. Now that I’m feeling better, he wants me to get right back into training, so he has me running five day this week! Yowsahs!

  • Tuesday: 4 miles
  • Wednesday: 2 miles
  • Thursday: 5 miles
  • Friday: 4 miles
  • Saturday: 7 miles

I was kind of bored with my running music this morning, so I grabbed Mal’s iPod and took it with me on my run. His selection has a lot more rock and classic rock than mine, so it was a nice change of pace, which made those two miles fly by. Although, I still like my running mix better!

After my run, I stretched and foamed rolled and then sat around in my sweaty workout clothes for a couple of hours before taking a shower. (I’m gross like that.) Then, I made a delicious pizza lunch.

I spread Laughing Cow Cheese on a Glutino pizza crust and topped it with TJ’s bruschetta and a broken up Dr. Praeger’s Sweet Potato Pancake. Mmm! I loved all of the different flavors and textures. I also drank a Half & Half with lunch.

After lunch, I went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s, but then I got distracted by Old Navy. Until this afternoon, I only owned one pair of shorts, so my recent mission was to find shorts that actually fit and don’t look totally stupid on me. For some reason, it just hasn’t been easy to find any (#whitegirlproblems).

The other day, my friend, Erin, told me that she had luck with the shorts at Old Navy, so I popped in to see what I could find.

After seeing this photo of me, I decided that Bermuda shorts are just not flattering on me, so I looked for shorter options, but not too short. Super short shorts make me nuts.

It didn’t take me long to find a pair that I liked. The Perfect 5” Shorts are where it’s at!!!

Ohmigod, shorts that fit!! I still can’t believe it!

The Perfect 5” Shorts sit low on the hips, but they’re long enough that I don’t have to worry about them riding up. They’re fitted through the hip and thigh and have a little bit of stretch to them. They’re comfy and pretty flattering. I’m a big fan!

I ended up buying two pairs in Truffle Brown and Alpine Tundra.

And, of course, I never shop without coupons, so I ended up getting these babies for free by using a coupon and a gift card from Christmas. Sweet.

What do you think of shorts? Love ’em? Hate ’em? What style do you like best?

When I returned home, I snacked on a couple of pieces of toasted gluten-free bread with almond butter and banana slices. It was a perfectly delicious and satisfying snack. Yep, it was.

Getting together with friends for Trivia tonight! See ya!

P.S. My Teddie Peanut Butter deal with OpenSky kicks off tomorrow! I am SO excited! Make sure you are following me so you get the deal! It’s a GREAT one, and I know you want some Teddie in your life!

  1. I like the shorts. I am short so I find I can’t wear knee length shorts, they make me look worse, the type you have on are what suit me best. Judging from your pics, you are short too?

  2. just a friendly suggestion.. you should do a deal for all your fave nut butters… hint hint get some barney butter on open sky!

  3. I really like those shorts, they’re very flattering on you. I don’t have a single decent pair! However they aren’t really a necessity in rainy Ireland 🙁

It’s brilliant that you are getting back into running – great job!

  4. I hate shorts. Like you, I can never find a pair that is flattering. I think I’ll check Old Navy! I really like the ones that you bought! 🙂

  5. I love shorts, and I like them short! I have very long, thin legs, so medium length shorts or longer look really odd on me. (my uncle used to call me GIraffe when I was young). I’ve had great luck at Abercrombie, which is surprising since I really haven’t worn anything from that store since college.

  6. I didn’t wear a single pair of shorts last summer….but that’s all changing this summer. I practically live in my Victoria’s Secret Pink denim shorts and American Eagle’s distressed boyfit midi shorts!!

  7. I’m gonna be honest and go ahead and say that I rock the super short shorts, lol. Hey, I’m 16–rock it while you got it, right?!

  8. Cute shorts! I’m always looking for ideas on good gluten-free pizza crust or even flatbreads – what kind are you using? That pizza looks amazing!

  9. It drives me absolutely nuts looking for capris. Everything is always the ripped look, the bleached look, the weird crease look. Or who doesn’t want capris with a belt you can’t remove or sequins all over the blessed thing. Where have all the simple capris that are just plain denim gone? I am glad you were able to find shorts that were the right fit, color and length.

  10. Hey! I happen to have those exact same shorts! (In Truffle Brown). Much like you, I only had one pair of shorts to my name, until I bought those last summer. And this summer I went totally crazy and bought jean shorts! While I still don’t love myself in shorts, it’s worth it to feel a little more comfortable in the summer.
